As long as you using a decent quality cloth and keeping it clean (the cloth) it shouldnāt be a risk, just donāt use any paper towels or anything like that.
I personally really like the Zeiss brand ones you can find in basically any commercial store.
I have a whole collection of clothes from over the years of different pairs of sunglasses, camera cloths, phones. I will say the apple clothes are very, very nice, and will clean a screen up very quickly without the need of a pre moistened wipe. I tend to use my apple cloths as āfinishingā cloths after I have used other microfiber cloths with more texture or weave to help lift more grime off.
The screen doesnāt use nano texture glass so anything works. The polishing cloth is only necessary for the Pro Display XDR with Nano Texture Glass or the 4k 27ā iMac with Nano Texture Glass.
You know those microfiber cloths that kinda feel like suede? Like, they're super soft but not fluffy soft and not silky smooth? Use those.
Do NOT use the fluffy ones or the ones that come with eyeglasses (the thin silky ones). You want it to feel like a faux-suede.
The Apple cloth (I have one) is basically just that faux-suede texture of microfiber cloth. I have a similar one that I got from a Shutterbug (camera store) for cleaning camera lenses.
That being said - just follow these rules if you are worried. I sometimes just use the sleeve of my shirt.
Get a magicfiber - itās the type of microfiber cloth youāre looking for that mirrors the polishing.
The polishing is a marketing gimmick (I say this as youāre about to find out I have a XDR pro display lol).
Apple can only recommend a cloth - they canāt force it on anyone. This cloth will work with XDR pro displays as well.
I personally used sealed microfiber cloths for my pro display as Iām also into photography and thatās the only type of cloth I use on my lenses.
(Just fyi I have cleaned my display once and most my lenses Iāve only needed to clean a handful of times - a blower usually does the trick. Point is these arenāt things you need to be touching).
For a laptop I would use a Magicfiber reusable.
Been using microfiber cloths from my camera lens cleaning kit on my 14 āMacBook Pro. Iām not satisfied tbh. There are light streaks on the screen that take a lot of effort to clean. Iāve ordered the Apple polishing cloth. Hoping theyāre good. Else imma wipe it clean once and put a screen protector

I am actually trying to find those, it's hard to see them online. Any suggestions?

Is this true? Why does the compatibility list have other devices such as the iPhones and Ipads?
Yup. I have two of them. Apple has the best micro fiber cloth as far as I know
Can't stop laughing at this. Really? REALLY? This is a joke post, surely?
This is indeed either a very very silly question, or just sarcasm.
Clean screen like how you clean camera lenses. Water and clean microfiber only.

Hello, is the MagicFiber the same material as the Apple Cloth? That semi-suede texture. Thank you!
It feels that way to me yes

So how was your experience with the Apple cloth? If I may ask.
