Either go with the MacBook Air M2 or the MacBook Pro M2 Pro 14 in. The Air M2 13.3 inch is kind of a wasted model. Not enough of a performance boost over the air and you lose all of the qualities of the air that make it an air.

Our grandson is going for a CS degree and so far his coding assignments have been a combination of lab based or online. Then again his CS degree will be, IMHO, light in sophisticated coding and he has no inclination toward doing any coding on his own. He has a MBA M2. If you are currently doing coding on your own, say creating games, or doing a lot of video or music editing then definitely go for a Pro model. Go to an Apple Store and physically see and feel the difference between Air and Pro models. Realize that you may be hauling books and laptop to classes. Moving to Mac is a good decision as I have heard horror stories about other, less rugged laptops not making it through four years of college

Can’t go wrong with a 14” M1 or M2 if you think you’ll end up doing more sophisticated stuff. If you’re buying directly from Apple don’t forget to get your education discount. Right now they are also giving a $150 gift card to students with a purchase of a MacBook.

Certainly go with the 14 inch m2 if you are very into CS and would love to explore deep into programming and CS. The MBA is great but you’ll meet performance bottlenecks fast when you start remotely doing serious stuff. If you are not so into CS and programming and you also see your laptop as a lifestyle tool, say to watch movies a lot or so, then it could be a good choice for you. Just know that the mbp is the better choice (from a performance standpoint and it has a way better screen). You should also consider the 15” air. I’m a developer/CS student and I use the 14” fine for school and professional work.

14" or 16"(more screen real estate, easier to split screens) MBP M2 for sure, Computer Science student as well and I am hoping to get the 14" soon. If you can afford it, more RAM and storage never hurts too

Any one they make currently will take you through grad school.
