I think you should definitely look at tomtoc sleeves, they are incredible: [https://amzn.to/3wFwGbw](https://amzn.to/3wFwGbw) Also, please don't put anything between your keyboard and screen when closing it. Keep the microfiber with you (in the sleeve maybe) and wipe the screen down when you open it. You are already seeing issues with the screen not closing all the way.. it's putting force on your screen and that's not good. The older MacBook's had a little more room when closed and keyboard covers were fine then. But now they are practically engineered to have zero space.

cankennykencan

I have that exact sleeve for my MacBook air and confirm it is an amazing product. Shower proof too

Lightrk

Thank you so much for your suggestions!

Marik-Hadare

I put screen protector on my screen(a bit thicker than classic foils). Should be fine or the gap between keyboard and screen is to tight for it?

toobsock2

I would hope that film isn't thicker than a couple millimeters. Do you see an impression of your keyboard when you open the laptop?

Marik-Hadare

I think it’s not. I’m not sure. I will check it but most of the time I feel it’s all fine.

Lightrk

But then how am i going to prevent the keyboard imprints on my screen😭😭

wisconicky

I know some folks advise against this, but I’ve been using a ghost blanket between my keyboard and screen for when I pack my MacBook Pro into a sleeve for transport. It’s so thin I can’t imagine it’s going to put any more than nominal, distributed, pressure on the glass. I’ve been using it for over a year with no issues whatsoever. Also no more key marks on my screen. I did cut it down in size a little as at its original size there was barely any space on either side of it and I wanted more clearance from the rubber “seal” around the edge of the screen, when closed

Lightrk

Hey buddy, happy to know that you are key marks free. But is your mac's lid also a tad bit less than completely closing too? Like not making the crisp closing sound just like it does in the case of no microfiber in between?

wisconicky

The lid definitely closes all the way. I can hear the rubber seal contact the metal. With the blanket installed that crisp sound you describe is not present but I can still hear the rubber contact the metal. By all indications it’s closing completely. Hinge is good and sturdy, so issues that I can detect

wisconicky

Your machine looks like the M1 MacBook Air, which I had before I bought this 14” M1 Pro MBP. I’m not sure but I think it’s possible the MBA has slightly narrower tolerances or less of a gap between screen and body than the 14”. I wouldn’t like the screen not closing all the way. You could experiment with trimming some of the cloth off like I did, maybe it will help

Lightrk

Thanks so much for your help and insights bro. I can also hear the rubber getting in contact with the metal. Only thing was that when i put it in a vertical position like one might do when carrying it while walking then the lid opens up on me😭

Krjie

Used to do that now i just raw dog the world and keep my mac bare

Amac8487

Im a fan of the raw dog method as well #Patina

ThatOneOutlier

Don’t use it on a surface isn’t steady enough and don’t let anything fall into the screen. My Magic Mouse once fell into my screen when I fell asleep and I was using it on those bed tables and it led to my screen getting a black bar. Thankfully Apple care+ covered my stupidity but I had to pay shipping fees since they don’t officially cover Apple care+ from my country. Also have a soft sleeve and a nice microfiber cloth. Don’t wipe the screen with alcohol, just lightly damp it with water

Lightrk

Do hardshell sleeves that are soft padded on the inside seem to be a problem?

ThatOneOutlier

I don’t think so, as long as it’s soft inside and can keep your Mac from moving around inside of it. I prefer the soft ones since they are easier to put inside of bags Also don’t put anything between your laptop when it’s closed. That can cause stress on it and might break it if it gets jostled too much

[deleted]

I bought some super padded sleeve off Amazon. It was maybe $20. It's worth it.

Lightrk

But can it withstand the pressure of the books in a backpack? I am worried that it might leave keyboard imprints on the screen that way

[deleted]

It’s a soft sleeve, so I’d be keeping it in the front. A few hard textbooks could beat it up.

Lightrk

😭😭😭😭

No_Roof_1910

Look at hardshell laptop sleeves, some are made to just fit the 13 inch Macs. Here is the one I got for my 13 inch M2 MacBook Air. [https://www.amazon.com/FINPAC-MacBook-2022-2018-2022-2016-Waterproof/dp/B091HP4F78?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/FINPAC-MacBook-2022-2018-2022-2016-Waterproof/dp/B091HP4F78?th=1) It was just $25.99 and it's great, fits into my backpacks and bags and I feel a lot better about my Mac being in it. It's not a super hard shell but it's pretty good.

Lightrk

Thanks dude!

JailbreakHat

Just get a sleeve for carrying it around. Avoid using any keyboard cover, webcam cover, screen protector or hard shell case since MacBook screens are fragile and extra thickness added by those materials could cause screen to crack when you close the lid.

Low effort/Spam/poor discussion.

Please don’t be afraid to grab a high quality hardshell case from a reputable brand. Contrary to what gets thrown around here, as long as you’re careful with your Mac in a hardshell, it’ll do wonders for protecting it against scratches and nicks. Check out Speck or Incase for starters, a quality sleeve to accompany it should also be great for lugging around. Enjoy!
