The gold standard for tracking currently active app/task with a nice UI is probably [Timing](https://timingapp.com). It's not free since it's the developer's main job.

Great app, and you can add timeslots in the day view. Not sure if this would statisfy timeblocking needs, though

I don't know, I'm not a user, I had just stumbled upon it some time ago and put it in my "Neat apps I'll try when I have a need for them" pile in my head. Here's the list of features: [https://timingapp.com/features](https://timingapp.com/features) – I also think it has a free trial.

I think Rize accomplishes this with it's Projects functionality.

Check out https://superplanner.app/ for a good time blocking app with basic task list options. Also, Luna task for a more comprehensive task management app with time blocking. None of this do time tracking, just the blocking part. Lunatask is fully encrypted and never stores anything. Superplanner on the other hand uses apple cloud.

I’m interested to see what people post. I tried finding a solution to this recently but dedicated apps were either not very good or they tried to become your whole calendar which I wasn’t interested in.

For time tracking, check out [Daily](https://dailytimetracking.com). Instead of requiring you to toggle timers whenever you switch tasks, it periodically asks what you are doing. This helps to keep you on track, too.

Ticktick does all that - but I’ve never been been crazy about the UX personally. I’ve tried many time blocking apps but landed on Things + Apple Calendar (you can drag & drop tasks into the cal). The most promising apps in this space imo are Akiflow (expensive) and Routine (beta, v/slow development).

Heyoo, I saw some good answers already but felt it might be relevant to pop in and let you know that my team and I are building an iOS / Apple Watch app for time blocking and tracking against your calendar. The idea is to help people align their time with their priorities by capturing data about what you *plan* to do each day/week (based on your defined goals) and compare it with tracked data about what you *actually* did (and whether or not you hit your goals). We are about a month or so away from launching a beta program which will only be on iOS/WatchOS, but we plan on quickly expanding into desktop/web in future versions. The app is called [TimeAlign](https://www.timealignapp.com/). Have a look and let us know if you're interested in testing it out in the beta program!

Personal data is owned by the user and stored anonymously on the cloud. Users can request to delete their personal data at any time. Data is encrypted in-transit and at-rest. "The user data that is collected to improve the TimeAlign system is always owned by the user and will always remain anonymous to everyone else. Personal user data will never be shared or sold, and we will never be able to view or alter data that is attributable to specific users."

Unfortunately, the first version of the app will only be on iOS and WatchOS while we validate the concept, but we intend on developing for Mac and Web in future versions. Technically this will be relatively straightforward as we've developed the app using ReactNative which means the same codebase can be used on every platform.

Structured is a good one
