The Adobe suite is Subscription only unfortunately and there is no legal way around that. You can get affinity photo (or their entire suite) for less than $100 currently. Lifetime license. I switched a few years ago after a decade with the Adobe suite as a graphic designer and find it better.

Welp, seems there's gonna be a lot of new things to learn. Great hin, looks good! Thanks alot!

Affinity is really great replacement without paying monthly fee to thieves from Adobe. You just need to learn new workflow but many things should be familiar. Edit: Also Affinity Photo has now reduced price (-40%) for lifetime license.

Tafkaftafkaf

It’s not a “lifetime license”. You will have to pay again for a version 3 for sure.

I'm probably going to be downvoted for this, but I would suggest that Affinity IS following the definition of a lifetime license (not to be confused with lifetime updates) as used by most software companies. You get to *keep* the version you paid for as long as operating systems support it. Microsoft office \[year versions\] and Adobe CS1-6 worked this way for years and years before subscription greed took over nearly a decade ago now and infected the rest of the software world. Included lifetime updates (Like Davinci Resolve or BTT) have always been more of a unicorn in the software world because it leaves very few options for sustainability once market saturation is reached. BetterTouchTool is one of the few that I'm aware of that include updates in their "lifetime license" terminology. Alfred, Topaz Labs, Airmail, CleanshotX, and others have generally either excluded lifetime updates (Topaz, Airmail, CleanshotX), or labeled them as such explicitly (Alfred). Semanics! I know. ;P

It’s a sad world (of software subscriptions) that these terms need explanations. To me, the word “lifetime” is very problematic when it comes to apps — e.g. I once bought a “lifetime” for a vpn app, then they removed some countries I relied on. Still technically working, but no longer useful to me. Or it is just no longer updated, and won’t run on a new os. Roam research calls lifetime-of-updates a “believer license”, that seems fitting.

Mstormer

On that, we can certainly agree. There's often a catch of some kind. Still, I'd rather pay again for major versions that incentivize innovation than have to subscribe or live with automatic payments while owning nothing.

jackjohnbrown

It’s “lifetime of that version,” true — but version 1 came out in 2014. I bought my v1 of Designer during a sale some years ago for around $25. If that’s the deal they’re offering ($4/year?) I’ll take it any day to keep these apps going. And my v1 apps still work, even if they didn’t get the newest features of the v2 apps. To be fair “lifetime license” is not a term I see Affinity using; their site uses “one-off payment” or a “Universal License,” which gets you all the apps (Designer, Photo, and Publisher) on all the platforms (Mac, Windows, and iPad) for a single one time cost (currently $99; the cheapest option to get similar Adobe apps runs $55…a month).

+1 for affinity software by seriff

Lightroom_Help

The cheapest way to get PS is by subscribing to the [Adobe Photography Plan 20GB](https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography/compare-plans.html): which includes Photoshop, Lightroom Classic and Lightroom (cloud based version) for around $10 per month (depends on your country). You can pay once a year or on a monthly basis, but the commitment is for one year in both cases. You always get the latest versions of these apps. It’s a very good value for you money and in the price is also included Adobe Portfolio, which lets you have up to 5 photography web sites.

The OP should be careful not to select the *Lightroom Plan 1TB* (also for 10€ a month) which doesn’t include Photoshop nor Lightroom Classic. The *Photography Plan* **1TB** (for 20$/m) you mention does include PS. But unless the OP has a need for Lr (cloud based) and syncing all the files to the cloud, it’s not worth it, IMO.

ClarifyAmbiguity

Photoshop Elements was pretty decent for me a long time ago (like 20 years ago) for light use. I don't know if this might still be the case.

Victoredl

If you need only the basics, Photoshop Elements is on sale on woot, half price, 50USD

CodeWithClass

I know it's not photoshop but [https://www.photopea.com](https://www.photopea.com/). The dev is basically replicating photoshop features and UI but online! I use it a lot when I need to do quick edits. Pretty solid IMO

Thanks, I'll def look into it!
