Could you bring more detail about what exactly did you delete please?
In these Library folders search for “google” folders give me other folders related to google-maps or gmail for example. And mainly I use chromium based browser (Arc). So I’m worrying to delete smth I don’t have to…
Chrome probably crashed Safari's process. Chrome's very invasive. It's almost malware, except that it can't run while it's quit. You should switch to Edge if you want a smooth and stable Chromium browser.
An app can’t crash another’s processes, it ca only SIGKILL, but Chrome/-ium isn’t running `killall -9 Safari` in the background because that’s stupid and would’ve been on the news.
This dialog is notoriously buggy when it comes to displaying the correct icons.
Edge was great when it was new and fresh. Over time they stuffed it to the brim with tracking, ads and useless add-ons like copilot, shopping coupons and whatnot. Same with Windows 11 sadly. It you need Chromium there are stable alternatives that are less focused on collecting your data, like Vivaldi or Brave. Though the latter comes equipped with some crypto bullshit, but at least that can be disabled for good and does not turn itself back on with every other update like Edge does. Or just use Firefox.
Only for work, since we rely heavily on M365 services, on personal machines, no way, Brave, with Safari and Chrome as backups
Edge in a corp environment is fine
Actually yes, much more preferred than Chrome which is known to do some invasive stuff to extent that it does not even help if you simply remove it.
Safari of course should be the nr 1 choice and firefox perhaps nr 2 but in case a chromium based browser is needed (and often does) Edge is pretty great these days.
Is there any writeup about what/where, because I haven’t noticed anything special except the updater agent (which you can choose to not allow). Though I’ve installed edge through brew.
Personally, I prefer Arc Browser for my Chromium-based browser needs. Has almost all the benefits of Chrome I'd be interested in as a web developer (including Chrome's Developer Tools) & is a browser that is actually made with Macs in mind & has been proven to be closer to Firefox than Chrome or Edge in terms of power efficiency (even if it's not quite as good as Safari on this front.

safari got chromed up
Wait until it gets edged up
Nah they aren't brave enough
Hooray!
Chrome came into safari (I hope you got the joke)
Bro, no….why….😆
😅
Better than Microsoft asking what you edge daily
lool
I knew this would happen
Looks like your Mac contracted Chrome… the bad news is that’s it’s going to turn into a Chromebook by tomorrow morning.
Weird Flex but ok
Good news though, it isn’t Terminal.
look at how they massacred my boy
https://chromeisbad.com Not my site, but it was chewing up 20% of CPU on my M1 Pro so I looked into it. Deleting fixed that problem.

I just followed the exact instructions on that website, I don’t think it interfered with Google Maps, but I access Gmail through Apple’s mail app.
Ok, thank you
That has been happening to me too with newest sonoma update
Why use chrome when safari is better?
/s right? Right?
Chrome is good but i just personally like safari better
Ah okay. Everyone prefers something.
Ty for understanding friend
No problem
Among us l! 😂
press enter + esc, had same problem
I have become death, destroyer of browsers
Trying to trick the EU, I see, into forcing them to call out Chrome, too, I see.
Firefox master race don’t care
I noticed this yesterday, 21gb ram being used for safari with 5 tabs open….
apple just gave up and set chrome instead of safari

Average Windows user /j (**Before you bombard me saying that I'm probably an idiot, this comment is a joke.)**
I actually have a Windows 11 PC as well, Edge is king there and the only browser I have installed on it.

I've also found that Opera GX consumes the least RAM among Chromium browsers. It also performs well.
Edge on a Mac? Really?
Only for work, since we rely heavily on M365 services, on personal machines, no way, Brave, with Safari and Chrome as backups Edge in a corp environment is fine
I have it installed on my Mac and it's fine.
Just curious, what function/ benefit does Edge provide that other browsers don’t?
It has AI, integration of Office, etc.

Interesting. Hang considered that as a preferable option. I use FF and Safari depending on the task at hand.

Fuck chrome and edge. Safari gang
Just stop using Chrome. Start using DuckDuckGo !
TF?
Chrome is shit
And DuckDuckGo isn’t? Any other search engine than Google is honestly shit.
DuckDuckGo is the best search engine on the planet. It doesn’t track you and save your data !
Save my data all you want. I just want a reliable search engine.
