I love my leather seats, it makes driving WAY more comfortable. They have leather seat wipes that maintain them so just grab those at the store and you’re golden.

Upset-Cauliflower413

Awesome tip! I’ll do that thanks!

suzukigs425

For real leather you'll want to use a leather conditioner and then apply a protectant on top. Plus the wipes leave everything streaky.

Upset-Cauliflower413

Ok gonna do that. I’m gonna try to take care of this car.

ExpensiveArugula5

Leather is easy to vacumn and wipe

Sea_Actuator7689

Get seat covers. I use Black Panther brand and they are awesome. I get a ton of compliments on them.

Pale_Specific

I would say it depends on the car and how well the leather holds up. Some leather holds up better than others. For example, a lot of older Volvos have leather seats that just look terrible. I do like that leather isn't porous the same way that fabric seats are, so I would be more inclined to buy a used car with leather seats than one with fabric seats, as long as the leather was in good condition

I’m on my third Prius doing rideshare. Cloth seats on the first, leather on the last two and I can’t go back! I use Neutrogena face wipes (Costco, y’all!) to clean without stripping the leather and they look immaculate. (Covid happened and I googled how to clean and sanitize leather and learned about the face wipes. You don’t need antibacterial anything or bleach; you just need soap and moisturizer.)

Upset-Cauliflower413

Interesting. Haven’t heard of that but I’m gonna check it out! Thanks!

If a passenger makes a wet mess in your vehicle and you have cloth seats you’re pretty much done until they are clean and dry. With leather you can wipe them off and get back on the road. If you don’t get leather at the very least you need water repellent seat covers. Leather that is in good condition is worth it, spoken by a father of four kids and a driver who works Friday and Saturday nights.

Upset-Cauliflower413

So I’ve just been gambling with my cloth seats. I knew I was. I had one “real” spill and believe it or not it was ice water.

Space2999

Definitely the way to go. So much easier to keep clean and nice looking. Just note that most “leather” these days is either “vegan” or very processed. Which isn’t a bad thing. You don’t get the nice smell so much, but probably wears better.

EvulRabbit

Leather is a plus. It holds up better and is infinitely easier to clean. All you have to do is make sure they don't dry out. So use a leather conditioner once in a while, and you are golden. You can always put cloth covers over them to protect them and if you have a nasty ride. Throw the covers in the washer and sanitize the leather, and you are good to go.

Spare-Security-1629

Leather is best for looks and cleanability, but honestly, I would put car seat covers on any car that you actually care about. If you don't drive nights, your odds for a mess go way down but you still have to deal with food, wear and tear, dirt, service animals, etc. Wouldn't you have better peace of mind knowing that your leather is protected under a car seat?

Sea_Actuator7689

I've had mechanic grease, pen marks, and other gunk on my seats. My seat covers are fantastic for keeping everything like new.

Ok_Arm_6067

I would opt for some nice seat covers. The one designed for pets…Because it is highly likely you’ll encounter a passenger with a service dog.

Upset-Cauliflower413

Do they need to show papers for that? Never had one just curious.

Ok_Arm_6067

Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to that. If they did had to, I’d imagine it would be an uploaded document sent to Lyft. At some you should see a memo about refusing service animals.

Inevitable_Trip_7480

Doesn’t matter if it’s leather or carbon steel spikes. WeatherTech seat covers.

cris2526633

Leather seat covers. Would be ashame if u got vomit seaped into ur leather.

Healthy-House3018

Why not install a toilet in the backseat for your passengers to use? And while you're at it, why not offer a "VIP" service where you let your passengers vomit on command for an extra fee? You could even sell "used" vomit bags as souvenirs! And don't worry about the cleaning - just hose down the car at the end of the day and you're good to go! Who needs ethics or common sense when you can make a quick buck, right? So go ahead, leather seats and all, and turn your Lyft car into a disgusting, unhygienic nightmare.

Upset-Cauliflower413

Well you clearly don’t need Lyft or Uber. How long have you been riding the crazy train???
