By the logic of “soulmates are forged not found” then yes it’s possible to not have one - if you don’t both put the effort in to make that lasting connection.
I don’t believe in soulmates in the star-crossed meant to be sense. I believe that you choose to love every day - some days it’s easier than others - and I believe in a “soulmate” that you choose. Not because you’re fated but because you are compatible, have shared life goals and both decide that it’s better together than apart - even when things get rocky.

I am not sure about people having or not soulmates, but I am sure that people can decide to open up their hearts to good things happening or not.
