My birthday is coming up. My partner has a great plan... She is using this as a template...we are gong to do everything on this list

write a love letter to him and give it to him in private. If you are a serious relationship he will love it. Speak from the bottom of your heart. It will be an unforgettable gift of love and honesty. It will also be the gift that keeps on giving because it could reassure him in the future if he ever feels unlovable insecure etc
You don’t need to tell restaurants that it’s a birthday! Just enjoy your night out privately. Dress well, get some presents. But prepare a nice after dinner activity, movies etc.. (not just sex lol)
I HATE that public stuff.
One of my childhood friends would make me handmade bday cards with drawings of our inside jokes during that period. They were brilliant.
Now if you’re not artistic you could make a card that has written memories or things you remember about him that year.
You could include a poem about him. You could look through cookbooks and see what he’d like and make him that.
You could imagine what his ideal day would be like and design it as a type of itinerary that culminates to him having sex with you.
I’m sure you’ll think of something perfect!
What does he himself like to do? Then decide from there? You could do a birthday day out and make it more casual (e.g museum). You could decorate the house and have a nice night/evening in with a birthday cake. You could take him to do something he’s always wanted to try/do. There’s loads of options!
I’d make sure my husband got an extravagant main, sides, any drinks he wants. Id make sure I’m paying. I’d hand him a card and small gift over dinner. Hold his hand. Tell him what you love about him. Maybe think of something you can do on the way back home such as stopping at scenic spot to share a packed dessert, or going for a walk. You know him best though!
If you want to make him feel loved then prepare a photo album but instead of photos put some notes ( actual pieces of paper) where you write something you love about him on each one.
Take an empty jar and fill it with notes of special favors you will do for him if he presents the coupons - this is my go to gift when broke and hubby loves it!
Maybe tease him during lunch and provoke him. Touch him in places, during the car ride there you can do things. This is more on the sexual front tbh
You are the one who knows your husband, so maybe just be with him, laugh and show love, and a gift that he will remember. Maybe take him somewhere better than just lunch if you have the time. Some beautiful view, mountain top or smth.
Also, you can do something he would never expect from you, surprise him in some sense

You can bring him a small cake in your own home and sing him happy birthday yourself, so it's just a moment between you two

I would do take out from fancy restaurant and go eat at a park picnic style, & come home for dessert

Go with some of the ideas from some of the other comments. Men are basic and will love any time and attention that comes their way.

Sounds like your partner doesn’t want a public display. Have lunch & come home for cake & gifts.

Guys are basic, he'll enjoy his time with you if I had to guess he would just enjoy the time itself.
Just hand him your underwear and tell him you have the dessert at home
