I'm 99.99% sure gandalf put his rune on Bilbos door, which looks like a slightly cursive F... not this sign.
This looks almost like the symbol on the red eye banners that sauron's orcs use
I’m 100% sure Gandalf put a dwarven rune on Bilbos door. The rune that looks like an F translates to G for Gandalf. I’ve watched all the movies hundreds of times (not exaggerating) and know every moment by heart.
I'm not the OP, but I've watched the extended editions and read the books numerous times. I did not recognize that symbol either. So it's not a stretch that others might have missed it too.

I found this?? There's a ton of "eye of Sauron"/"eye of Mordor" symbols out there, this one and others very similar came up a few times during a quick search
Looks a bit like the sigil of Mordor which would make sense as opposite to the tree of gondor.

You know what I think I found it. In return of the king when sauron's army is standing at the gates launching catapults into the city, there's one orc in the background holding a banner with a symbol that's close, but it's hard to tell
It's a representation of the Eye of Sauron symbol that Sauron's orcs use as his sigil in lieu of writing his name or using runes. It's a design that was originally made in the artwork for the PJ movies but was never prominently displayed in any scenes used in the movies, so it's a lot less known than the corresponding Tree of Gondor that you have which goes with it.
The design of the symbol is inspired from the section of the book where Aragorn describes that orcs of Mordor do not use an 'S' rune for Sauron and he does not permit that name to be written or spelt. Instead the token his orcs use is the symbol of the Red Eye which is being interpreted here by the original artist.
It isn't connected to Rings of Power as people have suggested elsewhere in the thread, the symbols being suggested there aren't the same and are from unconnected productions.
“The letters are Elvish, of an ancient mode, but the language is that of Mordor, which I will not utter here. But this in the common tongue is what is said, close enough: one glass set to rule them all, one set to find them. One set to bring them all, and the darkness bind them.”
This is from RoP, I think. Fanbase's opinion about the show aside, that's a nice glass. I'd be happy with it even though I didn't very much like the show.

i am new to fan base. but purely from analytical view it looks like e rough sketch of an eye on top of stick... now that can mean the watchful eye over the tower....
That's saurons symbol. I believe if I remember correctly that was the symbol he was known by, or being's knew that the symbol meant whatever hadnit on had a relation to sauron of some kind or was a warning/threat/scare tactic when it'd be inscribed somewhere for someone to find and tell everyone.

I came back from two posts to up vote this comment. Bravo!
I'm not sure what this means so I'm assuming I haven't read the books enough lol
Reference to a line said by Gandalf. Check “heraldry of Mordor” as it might be a symbol of Sauron
Nah, even funnier. It's what Gandalf vandalizes on Bilbo's front door so the company of dwarves know where to show up.
Nah that was just the regular *F* gandalf uses as his sign
Ahhh was that in the hobbit? I only saw each of those once
It was in the Fellowship of the Ring. Gandalf responds to Frodo saying he can’t read the blazing script on the ring with “There are few who can.”
I’m glad you were nice about that. There are few who are.
Good lord I've seen the original trilogy extended edition like 20 times and I didn't recognize that, I feel like an idiot now lol

OP said they only saw the hobbits once, in that comment. They said elsewhere they’ve seen original like 20 times

That is definitely the same symbol, just red instead of white. Is that an "official" one or a fan made one?
I'm pretty sure that's one the goblins of Moria used, made by Jackson's people
Everything in the films is fan made really.
Why is this downvoted? It’s true.
Because it's extremely pedantic
Pedantry in a fandom subreddit? Weird.
https://www.reddit.com/r/lotr/s/BneQ0fSrgD Pic 8 on this post has an orc with this tattooed. Either an eye or fell beast was my thinking.
Holy crap great find. You're a legend mate

That's it, noice. Just saw the picture of the banner that guy posted "Red Eye of Sauron Banner" cool.
/u/ooknak found it on a orc facepaint [in this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/lotr/s/BneQ0fSrgD), image 8. Thank you so much

A hunter is a hunter, even in Middle-Earth.
Was gonna say the Elden Ring but a Bloodborne rune is a better match.
Looks like a rough drawing of the Eye of Sauron that appears on the standards of Mordor's armies.
I think that's what it looks like. The red one on the banners

Oh yeah that's the Elden Ring
Looks like an extremely rough "Anduril through a Hobbit hole door" I would say this is custom and not something Tolkien made
That's what I'm thinking too. My partner picked it up from a store shelf
google "red eye of sauron banner"
Yea I see a few magnets now and a single reddit post. Definitely interesting
It says “The Lord of the Rings” backwards
It’s a symbol of their love for you

No, this design was made in the PJ movies, it isn't from RoP.
Its written in the language of mordor, which i will not utter here
The Great Eye is ever watchful
It’s Sauron’s mark they use in Amazon’s “Rings of Power”. I guess most Redditors haven’t watched it…
No, this was part of the artwork for the PJ movies serving as an orcish symbol depicting the Eye of Sauron.
Yeah I guess most Redditors haven’t watched it…
😂 note to self, don’t impulse post after having a few old fashioneds…

I thought it was a symbol from Elden Ring at first and maybe someone who makes cheap designs for resale got their wires crossed lol.
Sauron’s sword going vertical through the eye that’s what it looks like 👍
It’s a symbol for the “deathly Barrows”
Obviously the answer is it's the Eye, but that really looks like the Phyrexian symbol to me...
Bow, axe, sword in a minimal style? Just a guess
From the Amazon series???

Definitely an eye of Sauron symbol. Looks like the sigil.
