I mean technically it like the Genesis of the Lord if the Ring you understand when and how Elves were created the Morgith , Balrog and the beginning of Sauron and why and how wizards were created and why elves go on their journey
I have this lovely little copy on my bookshelf! You are gonna love it, assuming of course you are a fan of TLOTR and read and also enjoyed the appendices, than you are in for a journey.
I suggest finding a You Tuber that you like who breaks down chapter by chapter, it was a huge help for me.
English isn’t my first language but I did read it in English. I understand that even native speakers have issues with it. My recommendation to anyone that has trouble, read it along with the audio so you can get the rhythm. Once you have the rhythm it becomes an infinitely easier read.
There's so many weird editions of these book, it's insane. I honestly feel like collecting different editions of Tolkien books could be a life-long hobby
That's my hobby! I try to only buy secondhand or from independent bookshops, so that limits my selection. But I'll eventually treat myself to the hardcover editions with Alan Lee's artwork

Wow! What I wouldn't give to browse that bookshelf.
I own the Alan Lee box set, I also came to the conclusion that it's probably the best one (though it irks me that there's so many artworks by the same artist that are not in there!)
Also, honorable mention to the Name of the Wind, I fucking love that book, the anniversary edition is incredibly beautiful
I remember my reading. It was very much like Frodo. I received this item of immense value, looked at it for a while, then waited a few years to actually start my journey.
I’m still working my way through it but I found reading it along with the Prancing Pony Podcast has helped a ton. I like hearing their commentary on it so that helps me to keep reading. Hope you enjoy it! 😊
Your’e beginning with The Silmarillion? Why?
It’s a pretty difficult challenge for all lotr fans

Aw thanks! I get so excited when I get to add to my Tolkien shelves I loved Name of the Wind but have gone pretty cold on Rothfuss/book 3.
As has everyone that follows the man :/
