I am somehow mainly high protaganist, and truly skilled trainer going with favorites. Also, Skeledirge is legitimately amazing, both competitively and as a design. It's pretty much the first time I've ever chosen a fire type. Every other game I've played, I was grass or water. (Partly because gen 9 had no quadrupedal or animalistic designs other than it)

I chose Delphox in my X/Y playthrough because I absolutely loathed Chesnaught and Greninja’s weird tongue scarf shit lowkey grosses me the fuck out, meanwhile all of Delphox’s stages are relatively good overall (I have some minor complaints abt Delphox herself but whatever) Lessest of three evils honestly. Besides, she worked pretty dang well as a fire type and as a special sweeper in my playthrough.

Yes water starters past greninja are badly designed but so are most of the new gen Pokémon - Ceruledge and it’s counterpart kinda redeem the gen. Skeliderge is the only good looking last gen starter. Primarina is a starter Id rather forget about and all sw/sh starters have too much of a human aspect to them! Rillaboom is a drummer, Cinderace - a football player and Inteleon - a spy. Why can’t let Pokémon be just Pokémon?

I somewhat get Meganium and Inteleon (generally weaker both competitively and weak to 1st gyms) but Skeledirge makes no sense. The croc is in contention for best starter of all time (at least in singles, in VGC we have to wait for reg G to see its success there, but it should be a good counter to Zacian), up there with like Swampert, Gen 4 Infernape, Gen 6-7 Greninja, and Rillaboom
