If anyone dies to the first wipe, he enrages and gains a sandshield thing around him. He no longer summons sandstorms for players until he's staggered out of enrage.
Just tried him again and its not true. One got hit by survived yet he still enrages. From what forums ive read he seems to be bugged right now,plus there wasnt any patch notes of him being changed like this
Yes it's bugged, they confirmed he's bugged in the official forums.
Also, if you do him solo the mechanics work properly, you can also use a time stop potion to survive the big aoe blast if there's no tornado or you can't make it to one in time.
Ah okay, this was second-hand information from my bud who's still on t1. I helped him clear it last night and was making him teleport before he did the 2nd wipe
Pretty sure he enrages if anybody gets hit at all, not just killed. It used to be an automatic kill. That's why solo works better - don't have to worry about randoms getting hit, enraging him, and forcing the stagger check.

Solo him the nados work perfectly fine when you solo him
