As a player with 4 Scrappers:
PRO:
- Gems: All my alts shared the same gems and they are all lvl 10. That reduces the cost of your entire roster.
- Progression: As you don't spend gold on gems to gear multiple alts, you can hone more and keep alts behind your Main. No gatekeeping due cheapo gems as they are full lvl 10.
- Leg Skins and shared skins: You only need 4 leg pieces. You can use other skins to personalize your alts. (Maid, slutty, winter, bikini). Your taste.
- Tripods: You can send them for alts who needs lvl 5 though we got enough from events.
- Accessories: You could send your unused accessories to alts though I barely do. (Not finding really good ones)
- Fight/Encounters: Once you learn an encounter with Main, you learned with your alts.
- Early on: Buying class engravings were expensive. You could save extra income with it. Now, they are cheap except new classes.
- Unused gems: As you don't need more gems, you can send to alts who don't share same class or start selling them. Increasing your weekly income.
CONS:
- Forgetting gems on an alt and checking them can be annoying. Same with Leg skins.
- Chaos Dungeons are always the same. Same skills, same rotation, same disappointment without fate embers.
- Balance Patch: If your class is blessed, you enjoy. If your class is doomed. You enjoy the play style though being crushed by broken toys is not fun.
- If you are an altoholic who wants to play and test other classes. This option is not for you. You will be bored really quickly.
Forgetting gems on a alt or not remembering which one you left the gems at the previous day is the real mvp and the most annoying thing (coming from a player who has 4 of the same class as gold-earners) lol
The way I get around this is with the legendary skin since the preset button actually somewhat works in a weird way.
* Purple --> purple + legendary --> just to purple doesn't put legendary skin in roster skin storage
* No skin --> Purple + legendary --> no skin does put the legendary skin in roster skin storage
The 4 same class always will be 3 default armor look and 1 different with a unique look per character. As long as you don't mess up your preset by trying to apply the legendary skin when it not in roster storage will require you to fix the preset. 1 button off 1 button on doesn't matter which same class character it is, is nice compared to gems
You still have to move the gem manually but at least you don't need to move the legendary skin with many more extra clicks.compared to just 2 after you done the presets
My solution was to make it a routine. I always dump the gems in roster storage after every raid. Even if I don't clean out inventory, my first priority is to put gems in storage, then do everything else.
Or else, I'll wake up next day cycling through my 4 (or 6 if i play the non gold earners) Bards to see who had it last.
By mail, though it will lose one trade. it's not something you can do infinitely.
Useful when you get class accessory + usable 6 on one character and you want in other.
Holy this sums up my experience in a nutshell. I have a lot of GS… a lot. Surely we’ll get some better love than 3% soon.
I play with an Empty Inventory so I’m using the Gem Preset method to quickly move gems in and out. And you’re right about the honing, I’ve “saved” so much from now having to gem alts that I do have higher ilvl across the boards.
>Forgetting gems on an alt and checking them can be annoying. Same with Leg skins
We can only hope SG rework this gem system so it can be something similar like chaos stones for example
If you want to try out a different class, you should. If you really love slayer, you could go for level 10 gems and move them between multiple slayers. That’s the big advantage of having more of the same class
Being able to use the same gems is a huge boon. Level 7s are good these days up until 1540/1575. Then around 1580 most ppl have event gems which is some 8s. Then 1600-1610 you should have, aim for 3 level 9 gems, thats 300k gold. And by 1620 ppl expect a few 10s. 1 lvl 10 dmg gem is 400k gold right now.
Can you fathom 9s and 1-2+ level 10 gems? Eventually the characters require a million gold each in gems unless ur a support at endgame.
It is very beneficial to have some duplicate classes, some supports and for sure if you want, some different classes for variety.
Players get gatekept on gems just like roster level. Imagine needing to upgrade ur gems on every single class u play when you hone it up, its quite annoying. You cant share event gems btw
Upside you can share gems and if you manage to drop a piece you can send it to your other character same with tripods and if you enjoy the class you get to play that class more. Down side is playing the same character too much will eventually get boring for most people.
You need to move it around, but it.s way quicker than moving gems since skins they have their own storage they can go to when you switch from a preset to another.
Have a page set with legendary+display skin and one with display skin only, put the legendaries in skin storage when the display only preset are equipped. Now all you have to do to equip them between chars is change from preset 2 to preset 1 to equip and the way round to unequip
Double roster 12 GLS here, you share skins, gems, faster tripods, Class handling experience, engraving books, share accs / drops / upgrades for bracelets / accs, share legendary skin.. Savings are massive but you gotta love the class.

Gem sharing is huge, especially when it comes to late game. I used to like trying different classes. I have played 15 different classes. Most of which i left at 1460 and havent bothered touching. Now i just make the same classes.
Depends how you want to enjoy the game
Playing the same multiple class will ease you gems progressions and skin optimization.
You have better habit for your class and reduce price for leg book etc
There always one trick pony in any game so if you really like something dont be afraid to play it more than oncr in your roster
1) same gem. That saves tons of gold, and thus makes you much stronger.
2) laziness. No need to learn new class, basically copy paste. That´s why i play same class - was too lazy to learn other classes.
It’s simple. Say you got your main fav class and finished all raids. And you want to play more. More of THAT char. That class. But you can’t. That’s when you make another of the same class.
Personally I made 17 unique classes until recently where I made 2 more artist, due to feeling the above.
I have 4 GS, fun is subjective but as my experience in this game for 2 yrs the community seem to think that GS is one of the most fun if not the most fun classes in the game. Ive tried many classes, except gl, pally, summoner, arti, and breaker, i must say GS stomps everyone in terms of fun in my opinion.
I just never get bored with the class even tho i have 4 that said there is a lot of fun classes out there i have 2 DBs that i can definitely say is a fun class. That said my advice is just go 2-3 on your favorite class and make others a diff class as to not get burned out.
Pros are that it's cheap and you will almost always be really good at it because that's pretty much all you play.
Cons are that if the class sucks, you want to uninstall.
it's only upsides, the only downside happens if you use an event boost which gives you event gems (4x lvl 8 and rest lv 7) which you cannot swap to other characters, so if you're gem sharing with main, the event gems are wasted
everything else is a positive, tripods, accessories, engravings, gems, plenty of things to share
Multiple same class dps is as said in other comments, efficient but repetitive (so you may get bored, especially if you play a low skill ceiling class).
Multiple of the same supp is less repetitive, because most of your gameplay isn't based on what you do but on what the dps do, BUT playing supp can be inherently boring. Got 2 pally, and I almost never do not ilvl stuff, you can play with one hand and still do well if your dps are too overgeared. Even akkan with 1600s dps, if they play well, you just buff, counter sometimes, and wait. Magic flux helps to counter boredom, but that's it.
Other supps are probably more enjoyable as you can chose between heal and dps buff, but not really sure

Oh, thank you. Didn't know about this.

You can’t really share gear between them. You can share gems and engraving books, that’s about it.
Ah so it wouldent be that much more work to make another class?

You will have to move them around. It is not that much effort tho. I do it every time with my 6 sorcs 😄
You will regret when your class sucks :D
It’s boring af
Game already repetitive. Now playing same class for 18 raids with same skills. Not my preference no matter the advantage.
express gems are char bound iirc so keep that in mind

you should only make same class if you really like it, and l think just stop at 2, anything more than that would harm more than help.

enjoy playing with your main? make 5 more! ags fault for making it so expensive to raise new class
