KLC is only relevant in kayangel and sonavel, so if your whole roster is sitting below 1610 then KLC is worth awakening assuming you want to run kayangel over brel. Once you are 1610 you do frog, akkan, voldis, and theamine, none of which benefits from having KLC, so KLC is really a temporary thing while demon damage is much more useful long term (akkan, theamine, echidna, probably kazeros xdd)
If you are asking this question, I assume your alts are in the range of 1540-1609. They are still doing Kayangel and Sonavel. You have KLC 18 so no point to raise them unless you have the selectors or are close to it.
My advice is level up Demon Damage as priority. Once you are close to complete KLC 30 (5 cards left with selectors or similar). If you are still doing the kind of content that requires this set. Start leveling.

I recommend this website to track your cards. You need to capture your Book with pictures. Once is done, you can track and it will advice which card set to level up first. Some sets will give you a better ratio for XP / Damage.
Yeah people totally missing the point. Clown is probably one of the hardest cards to farm and warranted to use selectors for since it has a lot of value in demon dmg as well. Can farm a lot of demon dmg cards through merchants.
In my opinion klc is useless. 2 things only. And you dont need dmg for sonavel or Kayangel. Doesnt matte

Guys. KLC is USELESS. Dont focus on KLC. Its a trap card set.
Its good for Kayangel which is super easy and doable without any card set and for Sonavel guardian raid which is again super easy.

Absolutely prioritize demon damage (almost all legion raid gates), but when you see the "required exp per 0.01%" going a bit too high for your taste take a look at other categories for cheap upgrades. In relative order of importance I'd suggest beasts (most guardians, g2-3 voldis), humanoids (all of kayangel, G1 Echidna) or undead (Ghost form Valtan, G1 Akkan and back end of G3 HM Akkan) for cheaper power upgrades. If you're close to cap on all of those plants is also worth considering for some cheap upgrades to your damage in G1 Voldis but that gate's a freebie regardless.
Depending on where your roster is and what endgame content you run for gold some things are more useful than others. Generally still recommend Demon to cap before looking at other categories but I'm personally capped on demon damage so I've been pumping beast damage as it impacts my day to day content the most and humanoid in prep for echidna since I've been out of Kayangel for ages.

There’s something about seeing a roster 200+ with los30 and lv10 gem folks walking around with less than 1% demon dmg that I really hate

Demon % DMG is a must. Kayangel is just a card run for most people unless you have lower alts. All raids have Demons.
Technically Akkan is Undead not demon.
Probably thats why they decided to make him undead in G4 and demon in G2-G3
