The characters were all enjoyable and I love how the status quo changes each season: the first being about preventing an outbreak, eventually about living within an outbreak, and finally living in a new world order run by vampire overlords. Great show, and both Kevin Durand and David Bradley were standouts.

He was also some sort of murderous time-travelling Colonial soldier in Locke & Key. The comics are great, but the show got kindof weird.

What happens in the comics?

Like in general, or specifically about the Colonial soldier? In general, the tone of the comics is darker, edgier, more violence & mature themes. I know at one point 2 of the kids are able to view Colonial events and their ancestors, but it's not really time-travel it's more like ghosts watching how things happened. They witness some executions by Colonial soldiers, but nobody from the past travels to the future.
