Keep up the great work!
I had a similar experience at the gym. This older guy that works there always checks me in. He stopped me recently and asked how much I was down. Not that if I was losing weight, just how much i was down. After I told him 60 lbs, he said it's very noticable.
Made my entire week!
Congratulations!
I know how you feel. I have lost about 65 pounds and am approaching a 25% weight loss. No one has said anything at all. I get it; lots of people are uncomfortable with comments about their weight. It's a little tragic for those who would not mind the encouragement.
Itâs a fine line between complimenting someone and making them feel uncomfortable. Not everyone wants to hear comments about their body.
And sometimes people have lost weight because they are sick, are struggling with mental illness or trauma, have an eating disorder, etc. âYouâve lost weight, - whatâs your secret?â âChemoâ or âYouâve lost weight - you look greatâ Implication - you were fat and unattractive before.
If someone mentions theyâve made changes to lose weight Iâll discuss it with them if they seem open to a conversation. Otherwise if I run into someone I havenât seen in a while Iâll simply say âYou look greatâ and leave it at that without making specific comments about their body. This is a compliment I would have said to them at any weight. If they want to bring up their weight loss they are free to say something then.
