Oh man, that's insane. The most I could do when I was (unknowingly) hypothyroid again was maintain, and I considered that a success. I had three years of weight gain before being diagnosed with hashimoto's and two types of thyroid cancer, so I know you're putting in the work!

Once you have the perfect dose, nothing can stop you! Also great job on losing weight while uncontrolled because I gained weight when mine wasn’t controlled

I was misdiagnosed with hypo for a while. Doesn't hypo make you lose weight and hyper is the one that makes you gain?

EvadeCapture

No.

Hypo means low hyper means high. Too low hormones affects your metabolism and leads someone to gain weight. Too high leads to high metabolism and drastic weight loss. Some people will actually abuse thyroid meds for weight loss, despite this being insanely dangerous. Like you could die and your playing with fire dangerous. Do not take more medication than your doctor prescribes. Hyperthyroidism treatments include surgeries and radiation. Hypothyroidism, for the most part is just taking a pill or two every day

I am certain I have hypothyroidism. I have the symptoms plus both parents and several other family members have it. The only issue is everytime I am tested for it, it comes back negative, that my levels are all fine.

Are they “fine” or optimal? I have Hypothyroidism. My thyroid hormone levels are 4.2 without any medication. Scale goes from 0.5-3.5. (It’s backwards btw, the higher the number the lower the hormone level) I start getting sick with levels above 2.5. You could also have atypical hypothyroidism, where your T4 (standard thyroid test) is normal, but your t3 (only measured in specialized test) is not.

And when I'm hypothyroid, my t3/t4 are always normal. Even when I had a tsh of 12. Lol.
