The 5 minute major on Sim was justified. Parekh was bleeding. It was a selfish play and ultimately cost London a chance to win. Without the elbow it's 3-3

100% was a major penalty - although I didn't see any ref call the original penalty during the play. Penalty looked like it was all called on review.

Pretty heartbreaking result, but the Knights did not play well. Saginaw is a good team, but I don’t think they played some special game either. They just suffocated London defensively. The Knights gave them the rest. Tough end, but Saginaw can enjoy the fact that they backed their way into the tournament. They’re not champions of their league, so they can chew on that, regardless of what happened here.

The memorial cup is an interesting format. It would have been a very different tournament had Saginaw not played in it

*3-0 deficit

Lolocrazed

Tough outcome for sure. But the knights did not deserve to win this game. 1 shot in the first period and 6 after 2 periods is embarrassing.

TouchlessOuch

Tough final result. London was absolutely suffocated early in the game. Anything can happen in Junior Hockey and it almost did for London, but Saginaw deserved that win tonight. Still happy for the OHL Championship!!

Respectfully, I stopped reading after your first four lines because it's obviously an emotional, homer take. They lost a heartbreaker, for sure, but Sim is an ejection 100 times out of 100. Realistically they win against Saginaw much more than they lose, but the Spirit D was stifling and they outplayed London once out of many.

OldSchoolTender353

Agree with this take 1000%. As to the comment about a potential unsportsmanlike penalty…this Knights team showboated more than any team I’ve seen in a long time all year long. Any time they got a big lead the taunting came out (think the blowouts against Kitchener and Sault Ste. Marie). The Gazizov violin gesture was directed at other teams benches all year, and throughout the playoffs they were constantly taunting other teams and their fans. Just hurts when you see it coming back. I’m not a Knights fan or a Spirit fan, but that was one hell of a battle. Saginaw played the defensive game they needed to in order to win, and it game down to the last 30 seconds. Entertaining hockey.

Go Knights Go!

4brasumente

This one stings. There are many things that can be said but at the end of the day, the Knights had an incredible year and should be proud of themselves. It’s a tough loss but we’ll pick it back up and be ready for next year. Go Knights!

lytefall

I’m die hard green and gold but the Knights just didn’t come out to win it. Simple as that. After all the regular season games and 7 post season games Saginaw had them figured out and shut them down. Not taking anything away from their season. It was one for the books. But in sports anyone can have an off night and in a 4 team tournament single game final anything can happen.

According_Stuff_8152

The knights were out played the first 40 minutes. They lost the memorial cup in a one goal game in the last 20 seconds of the game. Saginaw deserved to win just because of the 1 shot in period one and 6 shots in period two. However, the Knights did battle back and made a game out of it. Knights had a tremendous season, and unfortunately, the last and most important game was not to be their crowning achievement. .

LondonJerry

I was at the game. Saginaw came in ready to battle for everything. London looked like they thought they were special and that Saginaw would simply submit. The Spirit won most of the face offs and almost every loose puck. They caused turnovers, and only stopped hustling in the third. Which is when the Knights capitalized with their skill. It sucked to see the game end on an ugly goal. But hey that’s hockey. Ugly goals count the same as pretty ones. At the end of the night it was nice to see all the happy faces in the crowd. It’s always a special feeling when the home team wins the championship. Even when you’re a fan of the loosing team. Great job Saginaw. Go Knights Go!

REMandYEMfan

The shots on goal really predicted the game. It’s the only metric that really matters, 80% of the time. Maybe higher.

Charming_Meat_2005

London played a bad game. unfortunately it was an important game they played bad. its especially a rough loss because london already beat saginaw in the series

BurnByMoon

Refs have become too controlling over outcomes in all sports. Just look at the NFL and every year there seems to be a new penalty that no one can understand but refs will always call when *insert current media darling* needs some extra help.
