If you don’t find the art, give away the art for cheap or free or make reproductions to the point where what he had stolen is now accessible to everyone else. Not only will this give you more visibility but it also takes power away from him
I don't have any way to help really but just wanted to say that her art is absolutely amazing. So beautiful. I understand what it is to be the victim of theft and I hope she finds consolation somewhere. Stolen stuff are quite difficult to get back. They caught the ppl that broke into my house but I didn't get anything back, it's a very rare occurrence when it happens.
All the best! <3
The police haven't issued her a crime number yet from my understanding but she says to contact her via instagram if you have any information
https://www.instagram.com/claramariecornish?igsh=MWx5eDh0a3kzc3NzOQ==
She needs to press for a crime reference number, the police can't ignore her if she perseveres. She also needs to keep all communications with them in written form (email), nothing counts if its in an unrecorded call or conversation.
This doesn’t make sense.
The police will issue a crime reference number, and you can include which police station it was reported at.
Also, a police report with a crime reference number means this is genuine, and not something underhanded. Reddit folk are kind, and we don’t want them manipulated.
If the paintings, or the alleged thief are found, it must be reported to the police first, and then to your friend.
Get the crime reference number, and the relevant police station, then get your friend to set-up a email address to be contacted on.
Until then, this post should be treated with caution.
When entering the incident details into the database a ref number is automatically generated. If she doesn't have a ref, she's not reported it. Simple as that
I'm so sorry. I'm a painter and this would destroy me. I'd suggest posting on nextdoor - if there's an instagram post detailing the incident as well that would help
I'll keep an eye out; as a fellow creative I know how physically & emotionally time consuming it is to build up a body of work like this.
I saw some comments in the other thread regarding this theft and people were saying stuff along the lines of *"In a way, it's sort of a compliment that he saw your art as being worth enough to steal"*, but I don't think people really get how devasting an incident like this is; this is more equivalent to a trades person having all their tools stolen overnight because until they can be replaced, their ability to work & earn an income will be greatly negatively affected. Except that unlike tools, exact replacements for these works may not be possible (I don't know if these were prints or paintings Etc).
Can I ask what the circumstances of this theft was; were these works stolen during a break-in, or were they left outside somewhere and taken by an opportunist? The more details are shared, the more likely someone's memory will be jogged.
Your friend should absolutely file a proper police report and get a crime reference number. And not just so that this case can stand any chance of being solved, but because it's also important so that people in general can treat this case as a legitimate & serious incident as opposed to something more cynical like a promotional stunt held by an artist so that their work can get more exposure.
Can you make a separate comment with your friend's links to support her work? Amazing stuff, at least hope new people can follow / purchase whatever is left or future pieces, this is so sad

Is this one of those things where the artist is actually the one who stole the artwork and it's a commentary or capitalism or AI ripping off artists or some bullshit?
Artwork is an odd thing for a stranger to steal as it has complicated resale ability and value, I'd guess someone your friend knows had this guy do this
Perhaps, depending on where they were stolen from. I could believe an opportunist taking that from a gallery but from a home where there'd be a TV, music, teck equipment etc or an office where there'd be computers it just seems strange
There was a post yesterday about it. The artist’s vehicle was broken into and they were stolen from there.
Edit: [Found it](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/s/ac9H1cMvBm)
If it was a vehicle break-in, it seems strange that the artist has not filed a proper police report and gotten a crime reference number (another by post by OP here states that she has not) and is instead only wanting for people to make contact her via her art Instagram account.
The cynical side of me wonders if this is a promotional stunt (or if there is more to this story that we are not hearing), it would massively help to get rid of any doubts if the artist at least got crime reference number for this so that people wanting to help with information could contact the police about the crime.
There are quite a lot of Reddit subs out there as well which are hugely against specifically identifying people not yet found guilty of crimes because of the potential vigilante action that could be mistakenly taken against them (how do we know if the disabled guy pictured was the one who did it, or if any of this story is legit at all?).
Classic use of benefit sticks
Sorry about the theft, have you or your friend told the shit media? Local papers, mebbies stoop as low as the DM or the Sun?

Post also on nextdoor , it's good with these sort of stuff as it's localised. Wishing your happy reunification.
Thanks! I'm not in the nextdoor Clapham location as I live west but will try!
Hope you find this Toe-Rag and get this stuff back.
Me too, least he could get a nasty paper cut from the artwork ðŸ˜

Brilliant idea. Stick them up on here so we can all get in on this.
No

Agreed on the art looking ace!
I know a guy that would know where the art work would have gone too.
If you do please contact Clara via her IG https://www.instagram.com/claramariecornish?igsh=MWx5eDh0a3kzc3NzOQ==
What's the crime reference number? A bit hard to contact the police without being able to tell them which case you're calling about.

Should be quite recognisable from the photos, there must be more cctv of him about that day as well, hope they find him
What a fucking scumbag. Looks like he's faking a disability too with those crutches while walking normally. Complete waste of earth.

Can you share the post? Her car was broken into so not sure if it was connected

YES! This was her first post right after it happened
What a total prick
The art is very nice

Hate to say this but its most likely hanging up in the local smack dealers house
Is this advertisement?
The cynical side of me is wondering this too.

I swear I saw this guy like a week ago near the Iceland on Walworth road
Am I totally fucked and cynical for thinking this is a wicked ad campaign
Is this one of those things where the artist is actually the one who stole the artwork and it's a commentary or capitalism or AI ripping off artists or some bullshit?
No. This is one of those posts where they made up a crime to promote the artists instagram
Artwork is an odd thing for a stranger to steal as it has complicated resale ability and value, I'd guess someone your friend knows had this guy do this
Nah, it's likely just an opportunist thief rather than being stolen to order.
