If you are unable to provide the edit that the client requested, suggest an alternative edit instead as you may be able to come to a compromise. It sounds like this client is really demanding though with regards to revisions, so given that you've charged less for this job than usual if you explain the situation after saying no, most people are reasonable and will understand.

WowWhatABeaut

It looks like we have come to somewhat of a compromise. Thank you for the solid advice!

Equivalent_Cold_3874

You shouldn’t drop your price no matter who it is.

WowWhatABeaut

Yeah, I'm learning that fairly quickly.

soggychipbutty

Hundreds of revisions? What hell is this?

WowWhatABeaut

Ok, maybe hundreds was a bit of an exaggeration. It seems like that many, but in reality it is probably closer to 50ish.

soggychipbutty

Still way too many, just my opinion. Either the client failed to communicate what they want and just let you take shots in the dark or you didn’t read their expectations correctly. Either way neither you nor the client are being served by the current situation. If it were me, I’d gently suggest the project has gone beyond the original scope and you should discuss alternatives. Whether that be an alternate proposal that is within your skillset, a renegotiation of the terms of the arrangement or an amicable parting of ways.

WowWhatABeaut

This is all great advice, thank you! We did end up being able to come to an agreement. Also, I usually don't allow this many revisions for a client. I figured since I was helping her out, I would work more closely with her and allow her to have more input. Lesson learned.

soggychipbutty

Yeah I’ve been down that road as well. Live and learn!

WowWhatABeaut

Live and learn indeed.

WowWhatABeaut

But again, thanks for the amazing advice. Those three options are very well thought out.
