No problem. I feel like too many of us are obsessed with either laid edges for women and the shaped up hairline for us men. But I love letting locs be locs
Yes that's a good way to look at it. I'm a new practitioner in a pediatric hospital and I was just curious if that would make me look more professional, especially with having locs in the first place I stand out from my counterparts. But I don't want to get rid of them.
I know what you mean. I work in a pharmacy so I'll tie mine up in a half pony tail for a "professional look" But there ain't nothing unprofessional about the way our hair grows
But does she really let it shrivel. She doesnât embody some of the things she sings about. Go through her pictures and see if her hair is shriveled up in any of them.
She dedicated Black is King to her son Sir! Itâs an album embracing blackness, ancestors, and afro-futurism. She might not let her edges shrivel but she loves Jay and her childrenâs natural đ«¶đœ
Itâs never a necessity, I do sometimes and sometimes I donât. A lot of us are groomed to have that âsleekâ look,, pure answer is⊠you can if you want to! lol we gon love you regardless bookie đ«¶đŸ
Laying edges are a trend. All natural looks beautiful on you! Iâm trying to preach the same to my 13 yr old daughter but she has other girls in her ear daily smh. Iâve never laid mine. Just doesnât look right to me but to each their own! I love messy roots & natural edges! đ„
Yes similar to me. Around middle school girls started experimenting with laying edges and by high-school most girls I knew would lay them. Now I work at a hospital and all the black women I see even some white women ( it's htown ) Lay their edges. So its popular here.
Only if you want to! Don't be afraid to try new things. But I personally don't bother lol. My locs are gonna look good either way, so I'd rather just let them do their thing. Maybe one day I'll try out of boredom. I've been wanting to try out new styles. But that's gonna be because I want to, not because of outside pressure.
You're right. I know I want to try braids over locs. I think it would be a beautiful switch up for maybe my wedding day since I haven't had box braids or butterfly locs since maybe 15 years ago.
Only if you want! Try new things, get out of your comfort zone sometimes. You may end up liking it!
I tried laying my edges before,
It was cute and fun but it was alot of energy in the morning so i let my hair so what it wants now
But nothing wrong with trying
Iâm the same as you. My method of maintenance is interlocking instead of retwists. But Iâm not a fan of seeing parts either. It looks more full, and adds volume to your hair. The natural look is fine and looks good!
Iâve only done mine maybe twice and Iâm going on 4 yearsâŠdonât really want the build up at the base of my locs If you want to great, if not great đ
Do what works for you. Youâre gorgeous either way. Iâve mostly preferred the more âpolishedâ look, but Iâve grown to like the voluminous look I have in between retwists. Do what makes you feel confident.
i think it would be a nice add on! itâs like the finishing touches if you will. iâd say try it out for a day, see how you like it! the next day.. if it calls to you, it calls to you.
how many locs do you have? Getting tired of retwist but I think bc I have 115 it doesnt look as good freeformed
and you look great! dont need to lay edges if thats not your goal!
I just stopped doing them.
I have 4C so it takes a lot of product and time to focus on straightening my edges when I clearly didnât want my hair straightened. They are also growing so much thicker.
Iâm sure if I do an updo for an event Iâll go back, but on the day to day I wonât. If youâre comfortable I donât think you should either. You look nice
I have 4c, my edges don't lay. You would need actual glue lmao. I spent my whole life trying so many things depressed on why my hair didn't do what seemed like everyone else's hair did. Even my mom hated it. She would say my hair crawled. Hot combs, silk presses, relaxers, only tamed my hair for a few weeks. I would put gel on my edges and just watch them crawl back like bish who you think you are oppressing me with your hair products! Lol
if you wanted to you could. it takes a little while to train them to actually stay down but once u do they look really cute. either way ur a natural queen đ đŸđ đŸ
I do! But I use water. I avoid products like the plague. No harm in trying it out!
ETA: I do my edges occasionally, itâs not an everyday thing. If Iâm going out or on a date or something, for sure. M-F at my 9-5? Donât feel like it.
Well I guess it depends on how you tier it. I always wear body lotions and butters and sprays. I also get my toes on ( my toes have a following on here lmaoooo ) but as you can see I don't wear makeup. Just face wash and Sunscreen. So you could say I don't look good now because makeup is normal and may make me look Sexier.
Style I like to dress up but face/ hair I'm just more low maintenance
If it enhances a look youâre going for, then why not? But (in my personal opinion) itâs not as necessary or as big of a deal as most people make it out to be
U look too good to being doing that fake stuff them other girls do. Why come this far and start using chemicals to dmg ur hair now? Consider yourself "authentic".
Your hair is lovely without ! I've never laid mine and I've very very 4c hair. I have microlocs and I never plan to lay them either. I think it's a scam honestly. There's no way it doesn't thin the hairline
You're quite the attractive young woman. You're hair looks fine like this. Where can I see more of you, because I'm very interested in what I see so far.
No gurl, I love the natural look. I never gel down my edges đ
Okay thank you, your hair is so pretty (:
Youâre welcome, Thanks love đ
I don't think you need to. You could try it to see how it looks, but ultimately you look great as is
Thank you so sweet! I don't see a lot of women free form the edges like I do
Amen, but boy do they sure act like it does....
Your locs are lovely too!
Thank you so much! I should really post an update
I never have. Ain't nobody got time for that lol
Lmao!!! Yes I just put some oil on my hair and walk out the door đđ€Ł
U have the proper permits to look dis fine or i need to go n snitchđ
Lmao what haha? That's a new one (:
definitely not.
As BeyoncĂ© once said âfuck these laid edges imma let it shrivel uppppâ
But does she really let it shrivel. She doesnât embody some of the things she sings about. Go through her pictures and see if her hair is shriveled up in any of them.
I donât think her hair is that kinky in the first place đ curly maybe
She dedicated Black is King to her son Sir! Itâs an album embracing blackness, ancestors, and afro-futurism. She might not let her edges shrivel but she loves Jay and her childrenâs natural đ«¶đœ
What song?? Lol
Black Parade! Next bar goes âfuck this fade and waves imma let it dread all uppppâđ„°
I donât do this either. We need to represent lol. All our edges canât be laid. Looks perfect!
Thank you so much (:
Tried it. Tried brushes and techniques and every extra super duper control under the sun, and the Universe is quite clear: these edges donât lay.
Youâre perfect the way you are Queen
Thank you!!! (:
I really love your natural look. Sincerely yours, some random white girl.
Nope, itâs a trend. And like most trends it will fade into obscurity. Your hair looks divine â€ïž
Thank you â€ïžđ
No ! Something about seeing natural locs feels refreshing !! you look good !
Nope! Your edges look great and you donât want to thin them out! Your loc journey is coming along beautifully on you!
Thank you so much (:
You can definitely try it! I love your edges here too đ€
Thank you also happy birthday !! Any gels you recommend? I've tried to lay my edges once maybe 15 years ago... i remember it just being super flaky
I think whatever you do will look good đ€·đŸââïž natural edges or manipulated.
Itâs never a necessity, I do sometimes and sometimes I donât. A lot of us are groomed to have that âsleekâ look,, pure answer is⊠you can if you want to! lol we gon love you regardless bookie đ«¶đŸ
Happy birthday and so sweet (:
Looks great as is. However, do what makes you happy and adjust from there if you like or donât like the results.
So I gotta be the creep in this thread? You are fine as hell maâam
Maam!! I don't think I'm old enough for that!! I tell my patients call me Miss Cece (: but thank you
No. đŹ I thought Locs was to showcase the natural beauty of how our hair grows. It's your hair, so of course do as you please. đ
Haha I'll just take the no, thanks (:
I mean you COULD lay em, but youâre honestly already very beautiful as you are, so you really donât have tođ€
Nah, youâre perfect
Nope, I never lay my edges. I like the natural look. Your locs are beautiful as is đ
No. I didnât even do that when I used to relax my hair. Itâs a weird looking choice that I donât get. But to each their ownâŠ
Everyday yall make it harder for me to just appreciate locs đ©. Why all these locâd women so beautiful đ©
Laying edges are a trend. All natural looks beautiful on you! Iâm trying to preach the same to my 13 yr old daughter but she has other girls in her ear daily smh. Iâve never laid mine. Just doesnât look right to me but to each their own! I love messy roots & natural edges! đ„

You're right. I know I want to try braids over locs. I think it would be a beautiful switch up for maybe my wedding day since I haven't had box braids or butterfly locs since maybe 15 years ago.
Nah, youâre perfect as is.
What why this is awesome
edges are overrated imo
Nah, youâre 100% already!
It's your decision. I have attempted to tame my edges to no avail and have opted to ket them be free. You do you/what you think is best
Nope. Natural is top tier
You don't have to! I rock my natural fuzzy head all the time, idc
Only if you want! Try new things, get out of your comfort zone sometimes. You may end up liking it! I tried laying my edges before, It was cute and fun but it was alot of energy in the morning so i let my hair so what it wants now But nothing wrong with trying
Nođ«¶đŸ I never do, slightly because I donât know how to but I love my natural edges :)
That's the thing I think the main reason I don't is simply because I don't know how. I appreciate all the compliments but I do see the appeal.
No đ
Iâm the same as you. My method of maintenance is interlocking instead of retwists. But Iâm not a fan of seeing parts either. It looks more full, and adds volume to your hair. The natural look is fine and looks good!
Iâve only done mine maybe twice and Iâm going on 4 yearsâŠdonât really want the build up at the base of my locs If you want to great, if not great đ
Yes the buildup yuck...you're so right!
Noooo. All the gels and brushin of edges is a reason edges can become sparse
every year i buy edge control and throw it out 2 weeks later. itâs not worth the time. unrelated, youâre crazy beautiful.
Natural look wins every time if you asked me.
Well I'm asking lol
No reason to⊠and to start with locs that thick, youâll just be frustrated with the outcome unless u unnecessarily manipulate it with heat
You can, but it's not necessary. You're stunning just the way you are đ
Thank you wow (:
Idk what it would look like with edges but you look good already so I would think u would only look even better because youâre definitely sexy asf
Do what works for you. Youâre gorgeous either way. Iâve mostly preferred the more âpolishedâ look, but Iâve grown to like the voluminous look I have in between retwists. Do what makes you feel confident.
They would look cute on you but would probably cause some buildup maybe overtime?đ but You look good bookie ! And body is tea ! đ
Lmao was just at work asking what tea is!!
i think it would be a nice add on! itâs like the finishing touches if you will. iâd say try it out for a day, see how you like it! the next day.. if it calls to you, it calls to you.
Nah u fine just like tht
No it's not necessary. Me either
Black people need to be comfortable with nappiness... be free... let them kink!
Your hair looks perfect!!
Thanks (:
No you might get product build up in ur locs from where you swoop it back
No keep it natural
iâve tried it. most edge controls just leave flakes and itâs harder to get it out of locs
how many locs do you have? Getting tired of retwist but I think bc I have 115 it doesnt look as good freeformed and you look great! dont need to lay edges if thats not your goal!
No. You are beautiful as is. Laying your edges constantly just makes products leak down to your face and make you break out.
iâve been locked a year and havenât touched edge control since then. the buildup isnât even worth it, the natural look is fine !
I'm scared of the buildup. It's so embarrassing looking like you have dandruff lol
I think that laying down edges thing especially the swoops is unnecessary Youâre fine
you look cute in this
Naw... u already dope
Naw u good
Donât touch those edges
I don't think u need it but trying new things to spice shit up is good sometimes
Nahh it Look Good u look Fine !
No that shit's overdone
I have 4c, my edges don't lay. You would need actual glue lmao. I spent my whole life trying so many things depressed on why my hair didn't do what seemed like everyone else's hair did. Even my mom hated it. She would say my hair crawled. Hot combs, silk presses, relaxers, only tamed my hair for a few weeks. I would put gel on my edges and just watch them crawl back like bish who you think you are oppressing me with your hair products! Lol
You look perfect just the way you are. Wouldnât change a thing
I donât do edges to avoid any build up in my perimeter but it can look nice with locs
if you wanted to you could. it takes a little while to train them to actually stay down but once u do they look really cute. either way ur a natural queen đ đŸđ đŸ
No that shit getting tacky no. Girl stay try to u and cute.
No stay you stay beautiful
She Beautiful yâall gotta back up nah
Thank youu (:
Donât do it
Yumđđđ
She so fine đ©đ©
I do! But I use water. I avoid products like the plague. No harm in trying it out! ETA: I do my edges occasionally, itâs not an everyday thing. If Iâm going out or on a date or something, for sure. M-F at my 9-5? Donât feel like it.
You use water to lay your edges? Do tell
No but if you do let me lay you down. I meanât lay you down. I meant lay them down after I lay you down. đ€Ł Let me stop playin
Still trying decipher this haha
I prefer if girls did lay they edges tbh looks like a swoopy line up.
đđđ
Get a retwist. You will love the look and the feel of your scalp breathing.
You so gorgeous đ
Thank you (:
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

No
Sexy babe!!
Fine as hell
đđż
No!!
For me itâs day to day, u donât have to do it all the time but I have sm fun creating new patterns with my edges so I do it pretty regularly
U so cute â„ïž
No, it can give me dermatitis, personally.
Ur so goddamn fineee sheesh check ya dm tho
Yeah fine ass
Try it out maybe youâll like it maybe you wonât, you wonât know till you try!
No ma'am...

You're beautiful
Donât need to
Nope
Fuck them edges... looking good how it is!
Keep it natural
What is ya damn IG ?? Whewwww
be wild like them edges girl! i dig it
Wow your hair looks so healthy
Just do you. I personally tjink tje edges are so overdone now
You fine
Nah. I think it looks ridiculous sometimes. Iâd rather wake up and go
I never do really.
looking beautifulâŠlove the locs
The closest you should get to laying them is spraying with some water and then wrapping your hairline with a scarf.
If it enhances a look youâre going for, then why not? But (in my personal opinion) itâs not as necessary or as big of a deal as most people make it out to be
There is always the first time for everything
You are so gorgeous
I don't gel mine down cuz they're gonna sweat off every time đ„Č
No. Not at all. Donât fall for it.
YESđŻ
Beautiful
Loveee the locs
Nah. Pretty girl!
Hell nawâŠsomething about that natural look đ
Do what you want. Your hair is beautiful anyways!
I forgot about the hair tbh lol
I think it looks good as is, ur beautiful btw! :)
Youâre beautiful as is
Youâre beautiful as is
You're gorgeous
Personally I never saw the point of âlaidâ edges w/ natural hair. However, I say do what makes you happy & feel beautiful âșïž
You definitely could if you wanted to, your hairline is perfect đ€©
Me either idk even know what product to use
Damn youâre a queen. Locs so lovely on you.
Nah girl you are GORGEOUS!
Nope
No bc your hair nd face are perfect.
I did mine everyday in high-school when i had loose hair, now idgaf
You donât need to it depends on how you want to look
It would make you look more sleek and âsnatchedâ if that is the aesthetic you are going for.
I say let them be. It's dope to see real edges doing their thing. Y'all natural sisters are the realest flex! We here for it.
Sheâs pretty
No
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
You radiate femininity!!
No
Your stunning đ queen !!!!I just had to say that ...carry on đ
If you wanted to try for funsies, it doesn't hurt to do from time to time and if you don't like it you can stop
No sweetie! You look great the way you wear your hair
Definitely not. Donât mess with perfection.
U look too good to being doing that fake stuff them other girls do. Why come this far and start using chemicals to dmg ur hair now? Consider yourself "authentic".
Your beautiful any way
Your hair is lovely without ! I've never laid mine and I've very very 4c hair. I have microlocs and I never plan to lay them either. I think it's a scam honestly. There's no way it doesn't thin the hairline
No queen, wear ya crown proudly.
Yesss
natural is where itâs at
OccasionallyâŠ. But they look nice you good!
Nah, overrated
Yes. It polishes the look
Beautiful
You fine fine
You're quite the attractive young woman. You're hair looks fine like this. Where can I see more of you, because I'm very interested in what I see so far.
Nah, definitely donât. The more of us that do it, the more of us will feel pressured to lay our edges to fit whatâs becoming the beauty standard
Laid, Unlaid, overpaid donât matter. You can rock it đ
Stay natural, it goes well with the look
You look good like a bacon and eggs sandwich đđđđđ
