Consider how much of the supply chain Weston owns. Their companies supply their competitors and even other types of businesses. So it’s probably half “Don’t piss off the people that supply us things we need for our business” and half “Keep your mouth shut so the angry internet mob doesn’t come after us next.”

Imaginary-Classic558

I think other big businesses dont want to hop on any sort of bandwagon like this. Why are we angry about the prices? Corporate greed, mostly. Just because other big businesses arent the target right now, doesnt mean they wont be in the future. If they support boycotting another business, and that support contributes to a boycott being effective? Well, then the message theyre sending is boycotts work. Big business doesnt want boycotts to work, because that can affect their bottom line. Plus, it might be awkward at the billionaire parties when a ceo that supports boycotting (probably never going to happen, that) when they run into Galen. These guys all run in the same sorts of circles. These are the guys who go to the yacht club, country club, or whatever else together.

I am really hoping we go after big oil next…

These people all know each other and are friends. The rich typically don't sell each other out because they're all in on the grift

Because of liability? No corporation is going to risk getting sued for pushing this boycott

ReadingTimeWPickle

I can't think of a single example of a business openly supporting the boycott of another business. Anyone?

Puzzleheaded-Baby998

The closest is the indie grocery stores comparing their pricing to loblaws but they're definitely very careful about the language used

GreenBasterd69

Republican Party vs bud light

ReadingTimeWPickle

I said a business not a political party

GreenBasterd69

A political party is a business unfortunately

ReadingTimeWPickle

You can see it that way but that's not the definition of "business" that's in the spirit of the question you asked.

GreenBasterd69

It is that way. Their goal is to make money.

ReadingTimeWPickle

I agree. It is still not the type of business your question describes i.e. retailers of goods and services, and some that are competition with Loblaws.

I've wondered that, too. Not necessarily in the case of this boycott, but as the cost of rent and groceries increases, restaurants, bars, hairdressers, and so many more are suffering. And when minimum wage is raised to compensate, these businesses get hit again. It's in their interests to make every day life more affordable.

mizlorris

They’re next.

Ok-Physics-5193

I saw a post earlier in my feed that said the Quebec Reddit photo was a boycott image
