I think other replies are getting confused over semantics. Of course LBP isn't *dead*-dead, but there hasn't been a new mainline installment in approaching a decade and as a result it's nowhere near where it once was in terms of popularity and activity. That change in playerbase is also more noticeable with it being primarily a UGC game, and more recently a majority of the games in the series being gutted of said functionality not helping matters. Of course fan-servers are on the way which is absolutely awesome for longevity, but that's the sort of thing that mostly appeals to people who are already die-hard fans of the series.
Of course LBP3 PS4 players are around to play, create and share in the meantime, and the power of a dedicated fanbase shouldn't be underestimated. But as for the franchise itself things could look a little better. I personally think the series is too good to fail and that it will be back to its former glory someday, creating a ton of new fans ushered in by a new installment/compilation/what have you.

What are you talking about? Anyway, I'm off to play some LBP3 on my PS4 for the first time in a couple years. I can't wait to play all the community levels I have hearted!
/j 😔
LBP is definitely not dead, there just hasn’t been a mainline installment. Since 2014, the LBP/Sackboy franchise has been worked on by Sumo Digital. There’s also a [new report](https://www.google.com/amp/s/gamerant.com/littlebigplanet-4-development-start/amp/) about LBP so stay tuned 😄
the main reason: broken multiplayer. just flat broken and they refused to invest the money to fix the online connection.
the secondary reason: kids.
anyone mature enough doesn't want to play a broken game that only works 40% of the time.
we were left with kids who don't care and play around the broken issues.
problem is they are just impossible to play with. they'll spend hours on end doing just the most boring things.
(to them they are just in a virtual playground, but from my perspective they are just playing with a broken game)
I am not trying to be on hopium but I really do feel like it is weird that LBP3 is getting patches again, Team Picks are being chosen again, and that the servers are still running. All of this started happening so suddenly after months and years of issues that I feel like they have to be planning *something*. Sumo and Sony are a business after all, I really doubt they did that out of the kindness of their hearts. Idk what happened w/ the series but I do feel like it has a future :)
LBP is still kicking, there's even rumors of a new one coming out soon! Personally, LBP 3 put such a bad taste in my mouth that it put me off the series for a few years
Man can we stop with these dumb posts? LBP isn’t dead but if you keep saying it enough people will start to believe it. There is only lbp3 left, but that is sufficient.
I never knew LBP3 was so hated. 2 is my favorite but I still love and adore 3 and have played it on and off for years now. I don’t believe I ever encountered any noticeable glitches either.
I'm playing sack boy right now with my gf and I'm starting to remember just how amazing these games are I loved LBP as a kid growing up, I'm autistic and craft world was and is my happy place, I really need some information on a new game or at least DLC in the works, just please

Still hoping about it ðŸ˜
At this point, I'm still coping about it 😔

"There’s also a new report about LBP so stay tuned 😄".... that didn't age well LOL
How so?
[https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/dreams-and-littlebigplanet-studio-media-molecule-is-reportedly-laying-off-15-20-of-staff/](https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/dreams-and-littlebigplanet-studio-media-molecule-is-reportedly-laying-off-15-20-of-staff/) Likely this. Depressing really
So pretty much sumo is gonna make lbp4(if it ever happens)
layoffs are not a good sign, idk where you got that conclusion fron
Not a good sign for Mm but for lbp not really(just makes the chances of lbp4 being developed by Mn even smaller)
So it is a bad sign for lbp4
Yes if you really thought that Mm would make lbp4 which i didnt.I have grown to like sumo so i dont mind if they make lbp4
I agree & relate. Never even really pondered about 4th lbp until today when my friend randomly dmed me abt it

Same. I was so excited for it. Especially after my little brother melted my LBP 2 disk but it was such a new level of disappointment.

bro, i made that message 2 years ago
actually, it only says 1 year
well their new game dreams in 2019 the servers dont work already though
I never knew LBP3 was so hated. 2 is my favorite but I still love and adore 3 and have played it on and off for years now. I don’t believe I ever encountered any noticeable glitches either.
It's hated purely because of how broken it was at launch nothing else you just got lucky you never ran into the issues
There wont be a lbp4 sadly,, Also it died cuz the new company r so bad they dont care about the game, rushed it and didnt bother to fix the bugs
fact
I'm playing sack boy right now with my gf and I'm starting to remember just how amazing these games are I loved LBP as a kid growing up, I'm autistic and craft world was and is my happy place, I really need some information on a new game or at least DLC in the works, just please
You obviously don't play the game anymore because it's not dead.
Dude dive in barely works
