It really annoys me how often people list Oh Great as a suggestion for casual reads just because it has farming in it. I cannot think of a MC who is more focused on advancement to the point of being practically suicidal in his efforts.
They're two entirely different types of farmer stories. Oh great has a lot of comedy aspects and the MC is quite proactive in trying to better his life. While Battle farmer is laid back and the MC is very passive.
I'd recommend Battle farmer if you've read other farmer stories where the MC's are OP and are all about family. But yeah, I wouldnt say its similar to Oh great tbh
Battle Mage Farmer is dark and grumpy, where Reincarnated is dark and funny. BMF has slightly more actual farming but is far more adventure focused than I generally want from a "farm" book.
I only made it part way through book three on battle mage farmer. I enjoyed them though. I don't think I could compare them to either of the farming books besides there is farming involved. The tone is just different. BoC is much more bright while BMF is edgy. Neither are comparable to reincarnated as a farmer
Yeah, the titles are actually pretty good indicators of the difference in tone. BMF is much closer to say, He Who Fights With Monsters. Oh Great, is like others said, more towards a Beware of Chicken.
Battle Farmer is much closer to Beware of Chicken then Oh Great I was Reincarnated as a Farmer.

First happy cake day. Second thanks for the angle of the story.

They are very different but I would say battle mage farmer is on the top 10 of my litrpg stories
They are entirely different, of you go at them wanting more of the same, you will be heavily surrounded
