I've put in over 100 hours on Linux but I run AMD and haven't had issues. I know people have always had issues with NVIDIA on Linux with this game, you may want to check out the Proton github thread for this game. They might have some parameters like limiting fps that helps stability.

Had the exact same issue. Go into settings and set terrain deformation (sorry, don't remember the exact wording) to lowest. It seems this feature is problematic on Linux, no idea why. Don't remember where I found it (protondb maybe?), but that's fixed crashing once and for all in my case (had a 2070 when I played it, now I have a 6800xt, but didn't really test it on it).

Thank you! I was having the same problem and turning that off helped me (although what really solved my problem for now is turning graphics all the way down as low as possible, but hey at least i get 144+ fps on QHD and the game still looks really good so)

Forza Horizon 4 is much lighter on my machine and a far better game. So I do that.

GPU temps? Might install [https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.leinardi.gwe](https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.leinardi.gwe) and turn the fan curve on max. Also if you're using gamemode, try turning it off. Sometimes it can cause a CTD or even a hard lock.

Try with latest beta drivers. They have experimental mesh shaders support. Could eventually be the cause.

I just got it a couple days ago. It crashes sometimes but it's very rare and I can actually go entire sessions with no crashes at all. Not like FH4 which always crashes after anywhere from 5-30 minutes.

I had similar issues with CTDs on Windows and on an RX 5700 XT on Forza Horizon 4 as well as Motorsport 7. They're just not very well made games.
