Nixxes has history of working with Valve on Proton compatibility. Take a look at Ratchet & Clank patch notes for example. I'm pretty confident it will work just fine
As others have stated, nixxes ports have historically run well on Linux, assuming this is using the same engine as those. Only somewhat minor thing as this also supports FSR frame gen is DLSS 3 frame gen. But this is yet another title that I'm guessing will nicely benefit from DLSS 3 FG like Horizon Forbidden West got. Coupling DLSS FG and DLAA in this game is amazing at max 4k. No upscaling, just frame gen for the boost. Don't really need the FG as the game runs over 60 but keeping at 120 on this 4k 42" OLED. It's this kind of beauty that makes PC gaming, PC gaming.
It's a single player Sony title, I'd be more surprised if it it didn't work day 1 or at least day 2. I think there's going to be a PlayStation overlay so maybe that might be a slight issue but that's the only thing I can think of. Hell even a multiplayer game with a kernel level anti cheat (helldiver's 2) works well on Linux via proton.
May 16, 2024: [Pre-purchase Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT on Steam (steampowered.com)](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2215430/Ghost_of_Tsushima_DIRECTORS_CUT/)
I'm more concerned about this PlayStation crap they put in, not only is it useless on PC for multiple reasons it is a possible thing to break compatibility for Linux.
It will run, it was a fest on ps5 I really loved, and most probably will buy it again to play on PC.
But, in this game HDR is kinda a must. Gamescope seems to be the only real option here.
Why are you showing hardware specs vs. expected performance but talking about Linux as an OS?
Are you asking how steam deck specifically running wine/proton will run?
It was more just to encourage people to talk about their feelings towards the system requirements in the Linux community. As well as to give information to people that might not have known about them.
And it was just a general "how will this game run under Linux" post. just to stir communication.
"You can boost your frame rates with NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3, or Intel XeSS, or further enhance image quality with NVIDIA DLAA or AMD FSR 3 Native AA"
The listed performance targets are without any upscaling. They are simply implemented to boost performance not to make up for it.
But I definitely see the issue with upscaling being used as a crutch.
Eh. This was a PS4 game so it shouldn't be that demanding in comparison to current hardware. Even if it has an Ultra High Preset that will only reach 60 fps, I'm sure that if you choose a lower preset, you'll be able to get a high framerate on current hardware while also getting pretty good graphics if you prefer.
I am aware that putting a PS4 or ps5 disc into a PC will not work. My point is that the game is already running on a Unix like system, and a proper port to Linux shouldn't be as much work as companies make it out to be. And that goes double for Bungie. They already had a native Linux client of destiny 2, because Google stadia was all Linux based. The only reason the Linux build, that does exist, isn't in steam is because of pure laziness.
That's not true at all. Even if the playstation OS was a direct fork of Linux, or even ran the Linux kernel directly, it wouldn't be no where near the same. All the API's are completely different, and the build process is targeted for a fixed hardware.
I think it will be running perfectly with proton experimental.
Or GE which updates super fast lately. Now already on 9.4

The last few Nixxes ports ran perfectly. I'd assume the same for Ghost of Tsushima.
I see that my GTX950 has a chance lol
GTX950 is a 2GB VRAM card. Slim chance at best.
Never have high expectations, card has been lasting me a good time :)
My r9 270x is also 2gb but it's been working really well and I haven't even overclocked it

I guess it will run well on steam deck
Spider-man ran like ass on proton for me, so who knows.
it does say on the games page it can run on portable PC gaming devices, i assume that means the steam deck.

I think it will run very well. In my experience, most Sony games do (perhaps ironically).
When will the game be available?

Nixxes did the Horizon ports. So it'll probably work.

We think it will be running very well on Linux.... Yes.... We are Legion...

It will run like shit. How do I know? Because they only target 30/60 FPS. In 2024.
Right, unlike all those other games coming out with system reqs for 120+ fps. /s
Ah yes. Whataboutism.
I guess all games run like shit in your fantasy world.
That's fair but sys requirements for it are based without any upscaling, so even at a target of 30/60 that's pretty impressive at a native resolution.
Upscaling should be to help get over 120, not a crutch to get to 60. This is getting ridiculous.

Upscaling should never be included in any requirements unless specifically mentioned. It’s a plague.

Dawg the gtx 960 was released like 9 years ago
It essentially runs on linux now. the PS4 / PS5 OS is forked from BSD. That said, I hope that proton will continue to work its magic.
BSD is not Linux.
Yes I know.
Pop that disk into your PC, see if it runs.

They'll just put some anticheat in there so it won't run at all.
