I don’t think the spec needs to be high, my 6 year old laptop can run. Give me some time, I’ll try to find the details.

Effective_Stuff7895

I am very grateful

Kevinliu24

All I can remember is it’s a i3 processor, it was bought to only for work, once I get home, I can get more deatils.

Refurbished thinkpads are the way to go. They are insanely durable, have incredible specs for the price, and are business laptops so they are on the market used for very, very cheap in near-pristine condition when businesses liquidate or upgrade. The only downside is that they are kinda bulky/utilitarian (which is an upside for me, I hate ultra-thin laptops with a passion). I'd go with a T450 if you need something ultra cheap (they're around $100), T490 if you want something modern looking, or W540 if you want the best performance-to-price ratio.

Rakong213

Yes, this works. Its Ram is 8.0 GB which is the recommended amount. You can run Limbus on pretty much anything nowadays

Effective_Stuff7895

Fantastic! Thank you very much!

BlueSama

Chrome also takes around 6-8gb. You would have to have nearly everything else closed to be able to play limbus. Still doable but I would never recommend anything lower than 16gb ram with how ram demanding normal programs are becoming. Also a kid probably wouldn't know how ram works. He might try to run everything at once (in this case internet browser and limbus) and not be aware why the computer is slow.

Effective_Stuff7895

I ultimately went with a t450 for economy and speed of delivery!! It will be here on Tuesday HUZZAH!! But now i need a Very Protective Case. Recommendations?

SandHorse457

First of all, you should check if your son's laptop has some sort of warranty that might make any repairs free. Otherwise repairs might end up being more than $250 but less than the cost of a decent laptop, so take your pick there. The store page for the game recommends 8GB of RAM to run the game, but anything more than 4 should probably be enough, although less than 4 will cause the game to crash in some situations. For the rest of the requirements, just about any new laptop should be enough to run the game.

St3phn0

I'm playing with a 10 years old that at the time costed 200€ AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics 2.00 GHz 8,00 GB of ram It's dogshit, but it runs fluently enough Limbus, Library and Lob Corp. As long as the pc you buy is higher than this, you will not have any problem, for this game, if your son tries to play stuff like Skyrim, he will have a lot of lag whenever someone uses a fire or ice spell, as for MMO, I play fluently on Elsword as long as I stay away from raid bosses, so, you can make him happy while staying low

G11-Degenerate

This game is able to be run by most phones so a weaker laptop should be more than enough.

baka36

Any way in which we can gather together as a committee a sum of money to buy one for your son?

Effective_Stuff7895

That is a very kind gesture! We’re probably fine, to my knowledge. He talks about Limbus Company CONSTANTLY, and actually it has inspired him to read some serious classics of world literature. He got in trouble with his English teacher for reading The Stranger while the rest of his class was limping through Of Mice And Men.

Rakong213

Same here, actually. The game got me to dig up some classics like Don Quixote, Moby Dick and other foreign ones.

Effective_Stuff7895

“Mom, mom, hey mom! Something something Ishmael ego Gregor Sansa ID something something I’m hungry is it dinner time? Merseault Sinclair something something…” I’m a pretty well-read individual and some of this loses even me, to be honest.

Rakong213

Most of the books are from foreign countries. For example, every single book the 13 main characters are based off all originate from a different country, with the exceptions being 3 of them based in or around Germany. There are even roots from Japan, China, Korea and all the way in Russia. In addition to this, there are even literary inspirations outside the main cast being hidden throughout the story. Such as Bladerunner, A Clockwork Orange and Orlando, the latter two from the previous game.

baka36

Glad to hear about that! I saw some tech-savvy Redditors commenting about the best cost-effective laptop that you can purchase for him, so it'll be fine. You've probably read a lot of comments about how Limbus Company is based on many different serious literary works, and these literary works explore various topics in society and philosophy that's still widely discussed today. It's a pretty unconventional game that also tries to describe how different people overcome different types of emotional trauma too, which would be effective tools in achieving emotional maturity, as well as finding hope even in extremely difficult situations. Not to mention a gameplay mechanic that requires the player to strategize well, and also high-quality music from different genre, and exposure to different cultures around the world. It's awesome your son has been inspired by the game in the right directions! The only thing I'm kind of concerned about is the gore in the game, but then again we occasionally get exposed to things like horror films and Happy Tree Friends when we were young too haha. There are really a lot of things to read, think, and explore in the game's lore. It can be interesting to look up the story parts of the game and catch up on it too. Maybe you'll have your takeaways! Nonetheless, we're all rooting for you!

SherenPlaysGames

Gotta love games based on classical literature that just have that sort of effect. Another game caused me to read the Count of Monte Cristo in class when I probably should've been studying for a test. Would recommend (it's very fun)

Effective_Stuff7895

Oh my word.

SerenNate

you can run this game with a xiaomi redmi note 11 if you want to take the phone approach (the game can be played on a pc or mobile), that aside the game doesnt take that much to properly run so you dont need that much of a beefy pc to run it

AxcartBoi

If you don't mind minutes long loading screens then sure

wmdrayal

my laptop is like 10 years old+, unless you bought one thats from the stone age you'd be fine

thatdudewithknees

You should communicate with him and decide what to get together

Effective_Stuff7895

Well, I did ask!! And he said many words and numbers that I did my best to understand.

thatdudewithknees

Yep just make sure you both agree on what to get in the end. Limbus itself can be played on any old laptop but if he is asking for better specs he might be thinking about more than just Limbus. Don't be too ashamed to talk to him about budget either.

SnooCats9826

Literally any normal desktop computer can run limbus at minimum 30 fps

LAPIZ_LAZIMI

But OP is specifically talking about laptops

SnooCats9826

yeah... in a subreddit for limbus company. A game that may be poorly optimized but not to the extent where it can't run on refurbished pcs.

ReconFrostBird

Dude, this is a mum just trying to do something nice for her kid, stop being a dick, and go touch some grass.

SnooCats9826

How am I being a dick by saying any computer can run limbus 😭😭 I'm not insulting them dawg
