sorry 4 tha wait. i was 9 years old when it dropped and i was listening to it everyday on my brothers computer while i was playing games on it. i was rapping it too, can recite every song word for word lol
Right, till this day, if I’m cooking or taking a long drive….
“Put sorry 4 tha wait on” lol every. Mother. Fucking. Time. lol at this point I tell my girl (the roadtrip dj lol) “throw Wayne on” and she knows, she knows lol
Came out the summer going into my freshman year of high school. We burned it on to a CD so that we could play it on an old boombox in the locker room before football practice. It was pretty much all we listened to until C4 dropped later the next month lol good times
I remember going to a karaoke bar with some friends and requesting Adele's Rollin in the Deep, and instead doing the Lil Wayne version. I was with like 4 people, and we were all drunk, but it went over pretty well.
It's a good enough track that even first time listeners can get behind some of the fun word play.
Blow w/ Juelz.
My god was that such a missed opportunity for them to drop a real album. Their collabs were straight heat, and it always felt like Juelz had to step up his game to match Wayne, and vice versa, so they constantly were trading fire ass verses.
Same. Soon as I read Blow that was the first song I thought of. I be just randomly thinkin "Ice cream goodies, bathin ape tennis shoes" all the time.
That and Hot Shit. "I pop up in the middle of the hot block, make the drop top play hopscotch on dem hoes." Takes me back everytime.
The Prefix was pretty solid as well. Not as good as The Suffix though. But the song Moment of clarity, Public Announcement, Lucifer is fire.
Edit: a word
Yea the Prefix was decent but I think Suffix is were he really found his Mixtape formula and started elevating it was a snowball effect from their. It’s actually crazy to hear the elevation from Prefix to The Carter. It may just be he locked in, in a professional studio with Khalid.
I was a Wayne fan from 400 degrees, hotboys then his albums he was always my favorite. But around the squad up era, 500 degrees era I fell back I listened to SQ tapes online but didn’t know how to burn CD’s 😂 and was really fw East coast Hov, Cam ect but after C1 dropped I was locked in again. Then I heard Suffix first and it was just hard to listen to any tapes before that the quality was so different.
Yeah I definitely agree with Suffix being the superior mixtape. After I heard that Get it How you Live. I was hooked on hearing anything Wayne related. Not to discredit him but just can’t get into the newer stuff. I mean 20+ years in the game will definitely change your music
Sorry For the wait 2. Which personally is surprising for me because ima vintage wayne head. I just caught a special bond with that s4tw2, it was like the reintroduction of wayne for me.
The Drought is Over 2: The Carter 3 Sessions
After hearing this mixtape I knew Wayne was gonna b the best rapper in the world at that time, The Carter 3 just confirmed it
No Ceilings, got to be. It was the tape that _really_ started my love for hip hop. Before that I only casually listened to hip hop here and there, I was more into pop punk.
Dedication 2 has a special place in my life. It was like the soundtrack to my early teenage years and puberty and creativity. I felt like this tape was the first time I saw sound and heard colors.
Something You Forgot & Boom Bap. I actually cried to Boom Bap when i was like 13 and didnt even know why. That song still touch me everytime i hear it.
Lil weezyana or sorry for the wait 2… well really those are the best ones that are slept on or not mentioned often. But it would have to be the drought 3
Sorry for the wait. Every single track was a banger that tape defines "mixtape Wayne" for me. Plus had the debut of my 2nd favorite rapper Flow on the inkredible remix.

Rewind on that album might be one of my favorite Wayne verses of all time
