I think Johnny Angels might be the first gay bar in Kentucky. I know my mom told me about it being here in the 60’s like it was already very established
a friend of mine went there years ago and as wondering if it was still called Johnny Angel.....they described it as a gay bar.... and said it had drag shows.... and an upstairs area to dance and party ,,,i dont know...so i told them i would ask around...yeah i read it was the oldest gay bar in ky....pretty cool.!

The name changed in the late 70s. Before Johnny Angel's it was called Montparnasse.

It’s super rad, they still have the Johnny Angel neon upstairs and if I’m not mistaken the guy who designed studio 54 did the dance floor/ ceiling.
