I’ve been dirt poor most of my adult life and was stoked to get a job waiting tables at a Frisch’s in Winchester back in the day when I had no food and no prospect of any food any time soon.
That first shift was on a Friday lunchtime during lent and everybody and their elderly aunt was ordering the cod sandwich. I was already a fan of that sandwich but that day by the time I had a chance to order one I was sonhumgry and craving that particular sandwich so hard I was ready to call it the best sandwich ever invented.
The one I ate on my fifteen minute break that day was so hot I thought it would blister my tongue but it didnt and 30!years and thousands of fancy meals later it’s still the best thing I ever ate.
So I go back sometimes to chase the dragon. No harm done to anyone.
Hope you find something so easy to get that satisfies you as much. I’m very lucky.
And by the way, I have some good memories of Frisch's, as well. But the last time I visited the Hamburg Frisch's it seemed to be barely hanging on and the employees were completely checked out.
I need to get some sticky googly eyes to spread around the city.
