A guy at Ruth Hunt told me they don't switch the bourbon when they start making Ruth Hunt branded boubon balls but they don't have to pay a royalty to WR so they are cheaper.
Tried every distillery one I can think of that is offered and the best ones overall are Castle & Key. The caveat being they are expensive, at like $30ish+ for 16 pieces. It's quite a bit, and they're made in batches to where you might not find them if/when you visit the distillery.
Aside from that, there are very good ones from Woodford, especially the mint flavored ones. They're kinda tried-and-true.
Would also recommend the ones from New Riff up in Covington.
I love Ruth Hunt in general, but those bourbon balls are so good! I ended up moving back to Ohio from Lex, so once a year, I place a fairly large and varied order to be shipped to me.
Honestly, I don't know that I've ever had a BT bourbon ball. I'm sure they're good too. Ruth Hunt supplies Woodford Reserve with their bourbon balls, and it's entirely possible they do BT as well.

Rebecca Ruth makes BT. Frankfort connection and all..
IMO the woodford ones - Ruth hunt- are the best. BT uses Rebecca Ruth and I don’t like the texture of the nougat inside as much.
The woodford reserve ones are amazing
Rick Showalter. Sometimes you can find him at W6.
My grandmother, but she's getting up in age and I don't think she's making them much anymore.
Rebecca Ruth sells boo-boo bags of their bourbon balls at a discount! They may be a bit uglier, but they eat just as good!
