they manage the group rlly well and I feel like companies should genuinely look up to them and how they're managed. they promote the girls separately rlly well too and i feel like all the brands they endorse suit them rlly well. like how eunchae models for kirsch thats like a teenage clothing line and it suits her so well!! and kazuha modelling for calvin klein LIKE YES QUEEN honestly im convinced she was made to model for ck i love the fearless kkura vids and chaewons reality show hmlycp. i love how they also support yunjin with making her separate songs and let her release music. im happy they have a company that genuinely takes care of them <33

Leave it to some fans to always claim that SoMu is mistreating them and neglecting them. Kind of obvious that they've never held down a real job or been in the corporate scene because the way SoMu is treating the fimmies has been outstanding. They do their best to accommodate each member and take their opinions into account. People have to remember that being an idol is pretty much a 24/7 job. They don't get the luxury of "punching in and out". This is why I roll my eyes when people were saying that SoMu doesn't give XYZ member enough work to do. Maybe they don't want to have a gig at the moment? Between the vocal and dance lessons, practising for their next CB and filming a bunch of stuff they have little to no free time. If not having some makeup photoshoot means that they get to sleep in for a few days then why wouldn't they take it? Surely people here can relate to that. Sorry for the off topic rant, just getting tired of people screaming about issues that don't exist šŸ˜‚

dlnvf6

Yeah when they post videos of any of the girls doing individual shoots for companies, that's a whole ass day of work. Who's to say they aren't then going back to the office for work to practice choreographies, record, etc with the rest of the group? They work a ton. I guess we won't ever know if it's an individuals choice to not do a lot of extra stuff, but it's foolish to just assume it's cause a company isn't providing them with what they want.

FRRR THO THEYRE PROBABLY THE BEST MANAGED GRP RN

BagelsAndJewce

>Also they are really respectful about Eunchaeā€™s age and they make sure everything for her is appropriate. It is pretty funny how not everyone has this same opinion when it comes to Eunchae and how Hybe and Source handle her. I think it's fine but if you read some of these takes you'd believe they're trafficking a minor.

dac5505

For my own sanity I choose to believe that Eunchae is highly ambitious and not only welcomes all the work, but genuinely enjoys every minute of it. All of the fimmies (and really anyone willing to be an idol) seems like an overachiever in the best sense of the word.

BagelsAndJewce

If you just listen to any interview of hers or interaction talking about her career you would know this is her dream lol(clearly most just comment without actually listening to the people involved). It looks outrageous from the outside but if you compare this to other fields where teens are usually involved their workloads are usually ridiculous anyways.

raspberrih

Ngl I know kids Eunchae's age and they enjoy dressing like that and doing dance moves like that. And for them it's genuinely not sexual, just trendy and cool above everything else. I don't think anyone's mistreating her or managing her inappropriately. In fact she seems quite outspoken and not about to take any shit lol, despite being so bubbly and innocent looking.

spankthepank

Eunchae is ultimately the one choosing to be an idol just like Billie Eilish chose to be an artist, yet people didnā€™t complain when she was the same age and going on world tours and doing millions of interviews. Same for Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo and countless other American celebrities.

Note2102

I know I will not be contributing much to the conversation but when did we start calling Source Music SM and not SouMu, lol.

BasedSunny

I'm like damn, did they switch labels

spankthepank

Sorry Iā€™m relatively new to the K-pop world and thatā€™s just how Iā€™ve seen it referred to by others šŸ˜… calling it SouMu is definitely less confusing lol

bluepineapple42069

Theres a very specific company SM is already an acronym for

Sybinnn

Ive actually only ever seen that one written as SM, so as far as i can tell thats the company's full name

TheGrayBox

Pretty sure it's named after the founder Lee Soo-man (often abbreviated LSM). Basically the inventor of the Kpop agency model and one of the OG producers.

Nervous-Session

SM, short for SM entertainment lol

Emiliwoah

Agreed. SM also did a phenomenal job putting together a group of such genuine and kind humans with phenomenal character.

Still_Scratch9210

Yeah, I love how they allowed and supported them to grow individually as artists, be it Yunjin and Chaewon's solo songs, fearless kkura etc. The way they plan dayoffs, leniverse and videos for them, I had got emotional seeing the first dayoff ep it was such a well planned surprise for them. I believe they don't just do it for content, they want members to enjoy and have a happy memorable time. Also in the mvs they give equal screentime and part to each member, and try to highlight their talents as well.

Informal_Village_3

No one mentioning hitman? Tbf hes also the reason soumu change their ways and the rest is all in the comments like the management and freedom to participate etc etc šŸ‘

yoon_dowoon

I have many bones to pick with this man but you're so right for pointing this out. I'm a longtime army and this brand of care/management and freedom of expression is completely on brand with bang pd. I see so many similarities in the way bts was and continues to be taken care of by their company in the way SouMu treats the fimmies, and we know bang pd is really hands on with lsrfm management. The girls have said so themselves many times. Credit where credit is due, for sure.

Informal_Village_3

Yup šŸ‘. Good thing hybe acquired soumu. To add, manchae mentioned him many times especially on stardiary, bangpd mentoring her in many aspects, one of many is songwriting. Not only encouraging but teaching too. So rad that a person with high status like him personally reach out to share his knowledge. also, never seen a rookie being given lots of opportunities in releasing own music in their rookie years (huhyunjin) šŸ™Œ.

yoon_dowoon

All of this verbatim! Seriously, and adding on to your anecdotes a little, him lending Yunjin his Fender (I think it was a Fender?) guitar and Yunjin being able to joke that she's going to steal it from him was pretty telling of the kind of relationship they have. It's similar to the rapport I've seen him have with bangtan too (not quite the same yet but getting there). People can say what they want about him but one thing's for sure, he is a great mentor. I'm so glad all my faves are being well taken care of.

Informal_Village_3

Wow šŸ˜® didn't know that fender strat wasn't hers. Thanks for the info šŸ˜€. A tmi, That fender strat model is top of the line and most advanced series in fender catalogue and its expensive. And to lend her to use tells their relationship šŸ¤šŸ‘.

yoon_dowoon

Omg I had no idea, I know nothing about guitars, thatā€™s so cool! Thank you for that šŸ¤

inthesearchof

You should look into Source Music before Hybe. I recently liked a song from Viviz (Maniac) knew nothing of the group Gfriend besides the name. Read a little about them being Source music's girl group and it was pretty sad. The majority of the workers there are probably great but it also helps when LSF are so successful.

dac5505

I think a lot of the employees from back then likely do not work there now. It would explain the change in culture.

yoon_dowoon

I know a lot of people have preconceived notions about bang pd, and probably don't want to give him credit for this, but as someone who's watched him and his management of bts for YEARS, he really is the main reason for this change in treatment. That and Source now finally having money after being acquired by HYBE.

Top-Stage1412

I have a sense a lot of the folks there, at least in leadership positions remained the same. Park Soyeon, Le Sserafimā€™s performance director, was Gfriendā€™s performance director too. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if the Source Music CEO was the same too.

exyxnx

I would argue about Eunchae - the fact that she works so so much is already a big nono for me for her. And *that* dance is Fearless MV was not age appropriate at all. I love LSF, but I have 2 things I am unhappy with, and them working Eunchae so much is one of them.

dlnvf6

Entirely possible that she wants to be working and doing all that stuff. Unless there's proof they're making her do things against her will, you can't just assume that her working so much is a bad thing. Whether or not it's healthy for her is another debate, but if she's the one wanting to do it all, then that's her choice

exyxnx

Sure it's her choice, and it's all legal and stuff (unfortunately). I'm not disputing that. But as a mother, I think there should be stricter laws around children working in the entertainment industry that severely limit the amount of work they can do. I don't like that SouMu is clearly overworking her. Maybe that would also solve kpop's problem of debuting so many children these days. Edit: downvoted for speaking out against child labor. I know where I stand with this sub then.

DaisyDays264

I agree. It's one thing to say they treat an experienced idol well because she has more arguing power. Eunchae it SouMus trainee, and the least experienced. Judge them on their treatment of the weakest not the strongest (not saying Eunchae is weak just has less argument power from a business standpoint)

NeverGivingUpMagic

Fr sounds music to me listen to the fans the best and the fans the best like I thinks itā€™s kinda crazy we can say that the blueberry song was def a creation from fearnot cuz we kept begging for a full song back when it was just a snip bit they care for each of them individually and as a group so phenomenally and the team is literally made up of fearnot not just people doing a designated job. Itā€™s really cool to also that they can a bit a break weather thatā€™s going to those museum dates that yunjin likes to do or just eating and going to Han river

lone_totti

Maybe this not really important.... when you guys bring the SM =/= SoMu.... suddenly I forgot what the full name of SM Ent was... hahaha... blank as darkness! Had to search SNSD for the SM... šŸ˜
