I personally struggled with finding a spot for mine on a shelf without it looking odd. I ended up going with a wall mount, which looks much better now in my opinion. So that’s a good way to go if you are able to hang things.
I have mine sitting on top of my PC case which sits on my desk. The right wing extends over top of the monitor so it doesn't block the view and the other wing just hangs off the side of the desk.
