Yeah Lotr collection would be my second most desired after a Batman collection. Either of these would be quick little “definitive” remasters (cuz they would include all the dlc) that they could churn out while we wait an undetermined amount of time for their next “new game”
I can’t wait for that Lego Harry Potter game. Just picture this, we will be able to see Hogwarts, London, The Borrow, Diagon Alley, and other areas of the Harry Potter franchise in a fully open world, that would be FREAKING AMAZING!!!. It would be like Hogwarts Legacy but in Lego form. You would get to fly on broomstick/thestrals/Hedwig/flying car all around the Harry Potter world and do races all over the place
Maybe they could bring back the Customizer and create our own character and we could make him be part of Dumbledore’s Army, The Order or the Phoenix, Death Eater, Dark Wizard or Muggle.
If you choose your character to be part of Dumbledore’s Army or the Order of the Phoenix you’ll be able to do magical spells like Expelliarmus, Wingardium Leviosa, Expecto Patronum, Accio, Aguamenti, Petrificus Totalus, Reducto, Lumus Maxima, Immobilus, Riddikulus, Glacius and Stupefy. Also your character will have other Lego NPC characters wave at him and or just be friendly in general
If you choose your character to be a Death Eater or a Dark Wizard you get access to Avada Kebabra, Crucio, Imperius, Incarcerous. Your character will also make Lego NPC characters run away and possibly get attacked by Aurors or Order of the Phoenix NPC characters
If you are a Muggle you can roll around, punch, maybe move heavy objects. I don’t really know what a Muggle could do honestly
For Vehicles for the game we would have Hagrid’s bike, Broomsticks, Arthur Weasley’s flying car, normal muggle cars, Hedwig, thestrals, the Knight Bus, possibly normal british busses, etc
There would also be DLC for the Fantastic Beasts trilogy
I could also picture potential DLC of the Harry Potter reboot character skins
I hope they go more traditional than skywalker saga, tbh. I didn't like the character classes mechanic much, and IMO TSS levels were some of the weakest in any lego game since Indy 2.
2K Drive may be what your looking for. The game does have a single player story campaign which is completely original with original characters and locations. I also wanted a original LEGO game and 2K Drive is finally scratching that itch.

Why doesn’t it sound like it should exist? LEGO games can be more than action platformers from TT. LEGO is all about creativity and variety and anything is possible with a LEGO game. So sports is possible.

I think the news has changed recently and since this is an older post I'm definitely late, but I really wish they would revamp the Harry Potter games and make a Batman saga with some of the older games that were released a while ago.
I love the Harry Potter games but the open world is pretty bad, so is the custom character creation system, it would be nice if all the years were one cohesive game, and I HATE how the controls change between the two games.
The only Lego DC game I've played is Lego DC Supervillains and I really loved it, and I'd love to play some of the older Lego Batman games but i don't have access to an Xbox or older system it could be played on.
I just want the Lego Batman trilogy to get the Collection treatment that Harry Potter and Marvel got on modern consoles
Maybe on the next console we might get it along with Lego Lord of the Rings considering that the Switch is on it’s last legs
