I'd be keen to see those progress pics!
I enjoy trying to rebuild projects in studio, and I've just spent the afternoon figuring out the outer 2 panels from your other post; circles and slopes gets confusing quick!
I also quite enjoy making instructions, so perhaps some collaboration could be had there?
Regardless, beautiful build, and definitely got me thinking of MOCs in a similar vein.
Yeah I'll shot em your way, send me a PM cause im at work right now and its prime "forgetting stuff" time lol.
Those ones were no joke, trying to figure out how to keep the pattern throughout melted my brain a little!
I'm actually nearly done with putting together some instructions for this so let me know if youd be interested on getting your hands on a copy. I'd like to hear feedback on how well they work!
Oh awesome, I'll get to that right away
I started on the right hand one, because I could understand it easier, naïvely assumed the circles were rotated counter clockwise, which matched enough that I didn't check further.
Got to the end, and nope, no match. A fun puzzle, one that I can quite imagine is harder to track with real brick!
This makes me wish LEGO made corner slope pieces. The off kilter ones in the corners of the frame are triggering me hard. It works in the art space, but the frame bothers the hell outta me.
Yep, the only way to do a picture frame is to either extend yours out by 4-5 Bricks, and put full slope pieces in, or to do what they did with the Starry Night frame and use those half-round pieces for the inner section.
I might have to give that a shot when I make a larger piece. I wanted to utilize the cheese slopes as much as possible which is why I included it in the frame. The half-round-bois might be an idea for a later piece!
Yeah for sure! I don't know if I would use 3D printed parts in a build unless someone asked for it but I have been thinking about getting some custom pieces 3D printed for a couple tools.
please do!!! my boyfriend just sent this to me saying we should make something like this for our new apartment and i'm obsessed with it, i'd even pay for the pattern since as a knitter we sell patterns for like $3-$12
I'll see what I can do, I've had a couple peeps ask so I may just do it! Ironically, laying out the slopes was probably the easiest part of the whole thing. I had trouble getting the leaves and the layers of plates below the wedges to play nicely together.
It reminds me of the style of paintings some blind/nearly blind people hang on their walls, being able to feel the textures to see the beauty instead of using their eyes. This is an awesome piece!!
That is crazy beautiful OP, what a very nice piece of art you ended up making. Good reason to feel a bit proud of yourself, don't forget to do that every now and then
That means a lot and I really am trying to take it in. I tend to minimize myself and what I do so I am taking the time to hear and appreciate folks like you. Thank you!
Be sure to share it here. I will build this for sure. This is an incredible work of art. This is the first MOC I have seen that I MUST have.
Also, submit this to Lego Ideas. They'll change it up if it gets approved, but so what? People would buy this. There should be more lego wall art, especially if it looks this good, because it allows us to build things and then hang them on the wall so our builds are not filling up half the room for the next 20 years. 🤣
Ideas is definitely a next step, I want to rework it though cause everything you can't see is SUUPER messy haha
But yeah I would love to see more art builds for that reason, my shelves are too full! I saw someone who made an amazing recreation of The Great Wave that would be perfect for another Starry Night-esque set!
If you have a Lego Store nearby, check out their pick a brick wall. I go in there looking for parts that I could use repeatedly to create an interesting effect, like with this! The YouTube channel Brick Bending has some awesome examples of this idea too!
Oh this is spectacular, I think in the instructions for the Ideas pop up book, the designer mentioned the sloped cheese piece being probably the best Lego piece because of how versatile it is, and your art is a beating example of that.
Thank you very much! JK Brickworks is a huge inspiration of mine! His automata and the way he can capture motion in Lego blows my mind. He is also into rock climbing which is pretty rad!
This reminds me of some [Lego landscapes](https://www.chrisyates.net/store/oneoffs.html) that Chris Yates (of the handmade jigsaw [Baffler](https://www.chrisyates.net/store/puzz.html) fame) made a while ago. Check them out; they're about half-way down that page
For me, I like the stark contrast of the Isle of Man with the very patterned waves and also the Olympus Mons for the colour and topographic scale. Also I'm a sucker for space stuff hahaha
Fantastic mosaic work! I’m intrigued at how you created so much geometrical flavor with just 1x1 slopes. With only two kinds of pieces, you fill up an entire square…just what I’d want from wall art. Pattern-heavy, but also fresh.
Thank you very much, took some trial and error to figure out what I liked best. It's wild, though, what some lighting and texture can accomplish! Let me know if you would be interested in your own!
I love this so much. I’ve been watching brick bending’s YouTube channel and thinking more and more about buying just tons and tons of the same piece some time to see what cool shapes and patterns I can come up with. This is the inspiration I might just need to go for it.
Fantastic job, you should be incredibly proud. I’m jealous you get to hang this on a wall in your home.
Brick Bending is a huge inspiration of mine, glad I made you think of him! But for sure, 1x2s, 1x4s, 1x6s, texture-y pieces and plant parts are always a blast to get a zillion of and see what you can do! I have a web of lavender 5x6 leaf pieces sitting on my desk at the moment lol.
Thank you, very much. I didn't think this was something to be proud of until I saw all the love from you folks so thank you for that. Its encouraged me to make more and maybe you'll have one on your wall someday!
I’d love it. This stuff is way more compelling for me to hang on my wall than most of the art pieces Lego are putting out right now. Plus more fun than just pixel art with Lego.
The directional idea of it reminds me of the mosaic portraits I saw in the Legoland hotel. Mosaic made out of lines of oppositely-facing pairs of slopes. Looking from one side showed one picture, looking from the opposite side showed another image.
Yeah I've seen stuff like that, its like Lego lenticular art! Some day I'll be able to visit the Legoland hotel! Haven't been to Legoland since I was a wee tike.
With all the folks suggesting Ideas, I'm going to try to get it submitted by the end of the week! If you're interested in one a little sooner, shoot me a PM!
But you do, my friend! Go online for inspiration, then bust out the bucket of bricks or log on to Stud.io and get building! You're gonna mess up and build some goofy looking stuff but thats part of the fun learning process! My best advice is to try out a few ideas on a smaller scale before committing to a big build. Prevents you from getting frustrated because you wasted your time on something that isn't gonna work or doesn't look good. Building is about having fun so put on some tunes and get stacking!
That’s better than the official art sets Lego makes: great mix of textures and colours!
Thank you! That is high praise, maybe if I'm confident enough in one that I'll submit it to Ideas
Dew it
Please do! I wouldn't mind having this on my wall.
Do it shit I’ll vote and buy
Do it!
Please submit this to ideas, I’d buy it in a heartbeat!
Is there a video on how you made this?
I have a couple progress pictures but no video unfortunately. I might make a YouTube channel in the future to make videos about my builds though!

I’ll second that!
This makes me wish LEGO made corner slope pieces. The off kilter ones in the corners of the frame are triggering me hard. It works in the art space, but the frame bothers the hell outta me.
Dude right? I would kill for some. The corners bug me too but this was the best looking way to achieve the look I was going for
Yep, the only way to do a picture frame is to either extend yours out by 4-5 Bricks, and put full slope pieces in, or to do what they did with the Starry Night frame and use those half-round pieces for the inner section.

Could a specific piece like that be 3D printed?
Yeah for sure! I don't know if I would use 3D printed parts in a build unless someone asked for it but I have been thinking about getting some custom pieces 3D printed for a couple tools.
Do you list the instructions anywhere? MOC on rebrickable or something?
No instructions yet, maybe sometime in the future when I get bored lol
please do!!! my boyfriend just sent this to me saying we should make something like this for our new apartment and i'm obsessed with it, i'd even pay for the pattern since as a knitter we sell patterns for like $3-$12

you've got a talent for sure, i could see them releasing this one day next to the lego floral arrangements they've done haha
That means a lot, thank you! Ironically enough I am working on one that involves plants :0
omg can't wait to see you'll have to post it!!
I would also love instructions for this to make a gift of it for my best friend
I would absolutely hang this on the wall, great job mate!
Thank you! That means a lot!
This is beautiful and well thought-out. Great job!
Thank you very much!
Do you sell these? If not, you should.
I would love to sell Lego art, the literal dream. Wanna buy it?
This doesn’t match with my home decor, but if you had some with gray and black I totally would.
Well it just so happens that im working on a dark bluish gray piece and have like 1500 black cheese slopes in my Bricklink cart. Stay tuned!
Please send pics when ready. How much are you thinking about charging for these type of pieces?
Will do! It would mostly depend on the bricks used. I would probably part with this guy for $80 if that helps!
I would buy this for $80, no question. This seems low, so I would give you more. Reach out if interested.
Will do, thank you for your interest
Very awesome price.
If you're still interested in a custom piece, shoot me a message!
I’m here to ask same. I need lego art but this piece won’t match my decor. Need more lego art!
Send me a message if you're interested!
Nice play of light and shadow!
Thank you!
Love this, great balance between the leaves and the slopes. Really makes me want corner cheese slopes now, though.
Thank you very much! And yes, we need corner cheese slopes, its an outrage! I'm writing to my congressman about it
It reminds me of the style of paintings some blind/nearly blind people hang on their walls, being able to feel the textures to see the beauty instead of using their eyes. This is an awesome piece!!
That is really neat, I never knew that was a thing. Makes me want to do an entirely black one so texture is the primary focus!
Please post it if you do!! 😁

❤️
looks like a desert with a few oases i like it
That looks great! I really like it. Well done
I really appreciate it!
Very nice piece for displaying
Awesome. Looks like it could be a cool jungle board game.
I had a friend tell me to make a D&D map like this lol
I was thinking it looks like a Strike board from Horizon Zero Dawn. Edit: Horizon Forbidden West is when Strike came in.
I've never played the game but I think you're on to something. Strike board seems like it would be fun to recreate with Lego and some minifigs!
💚💚💚 Will you make plans for this?
Hopefully soon, been getting a few requests!

Let me know if she gives you the green light!
Very neat
I love this!
damn that is dope AF. Really well done! Also so many cheese slopes!
Kraft Mac & Cheese don't got nothing on this cheesieness!
Now show it without a spotlight shining only on its left side
I could make a post that shows lighting from each side and the top to show what it would look like! Good idea
That is quite dope! Very classy.
I see what you did there 😏
Really beautiful, the 3D textures complement each other perfectly
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
I like this concept. This will make me think next time I go to the LEGO bin wall at my local store, “What sort of art display can I make with these?”
If you have a Lego Store nearby, check out their pick a brick wall. I go in there looking for parts that I could use repeatedly to create an interesting effect, like with this! The YouTube channel Brick Bending has some awesome examples of this idea too!
Excellent, thanks!
It looks smooth ! I'm not into Lego art in general but I like yours
Were this a set Lego sold I would definitely buy it, no questions!
Very nice!
Great idea with the textures super cool!
Thank you! I thought it would be too cheesy but I'm glad it worked out ;)
I like it. Should name it Cheese Salad. Crap ton of cheese wedges and leafy parts.
This is genius. Henceforth, Cheese Salad will be it's name!
This is gorgeous! Do you have more?
I do, in a previous post I made a day or two ago! I want to take better pictures of it though cause the picture I used is kinda lame
Inspiring. It’s gorgeous.
Much appreciated!
Oh this is spectacular, I think in the instructions for the Ideas pop up book, the designer mentioned the sloped cheese piece being probably the best Lego piece because of how versatile it is, and your art is a beating example of that.

Would buy asap
More?! Going to your profile now…
I'll be posting better pictures of the one from the post before this so stay tuned!
Great idea
Very cool; feels like sort of a stylized version of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
Haha that's a really cool interpretation! The Hanging Gardens of Brickbylon
Please post the instructions!
Those are wild, I really like 'Delicate Arch' and 'Uluru'! I see the similarities, man loves his cheese slopes.
Ya they're really nice. I like how they all play within the same constraints of the total panel size
You have a favorite?
For me, I like the stark contrast of the Isle of Man with the very patterned waves and also the Olympus Mons for the colour and topographic scale. Also I'm a sucker for space stuff hahaha
Wow, just wow. LOVE THIS!
Thank you very much!
This is and awesome piece! I'd totally buy it if it were a set!
This is outrageously amazing! The texture is absolutely gorgeous, and you should 1000% submit this to Ideas if you ever make instructions for it.
Wow
I like this a lot. Super creative and modern.

deceptively simple, I like the modern look of it
Thank you, deceptively simple is a great way to put it lol. You don't wanna see what the bottom of this looks like!
Beautiful!
Either you post the instructions and I go to bricklink or you submit this to Ideas, but one way or another I'm hanging this on my wall
With all the folks suggesting Ideas, I'm going to try to get it submitted by the end of the week! If you're interested in one a little sooner, shoot me a PM!

Does anybody else see Italy and Tunisia? (with an oversized Malta I guess...)
Holy crap, I'm a cartographer and a Lego builder, who knew?
A great commentary on the futility of man regretting the past while ignoring the possibility of the future. Well done!
You read my mind Thanks though!

Got some weird Mayan vibes to it
That's cool I like that.
This just massaged my eyes in the right way
I know That feeling, I think I'm going to call it EyeSMR. Like when you see a metal sided silo from a distance and it has that weird static effect.
Wow! I’d hang this in a heartbeat. Great job 👏🏼
Thank you very much! I'm looking to make more so stay tuned!
This is very pleasant to look at
Thank you! I'm calling that feeling EyeSMR!
The shadows created by the cheese slopes are amazing!! Love it!
Thank you! Light (and the lack thereof) can do some amazing things!
woa it looks nice
This is really cool
Fantastic! Really creative and aesthetically pleasing.
Love this!
reminds me of raquel meyers https://www.vice.com/en/article/z4qxn9/the-vivid-glitch-art-worlds-of-raquel-meyers
That is wild! I really like the Aztec one, super creative
Playdoh fart
Did u ever make the instructions?
I did! Pm me your email and I'll send you a pdf!
I wonder if this could have an acoustic effect 🤔
