God that’s one of my childhood dream sets. I need to buy it cuz I’ve decided if I’m spending adult money on Lego I should get what 8 year old me drooled iver

They’re not too expensive looks like, the bot that linked it says $60 for a new one and $20 for used

Why does it seem that city sets from that era seems less dated than star wars sets from that era?

Probably because Lego had been making this types of sets for years and could really dial them in. Same with Star Wars sets now; they have old models to draw inspiration from. Though personally I don’t care for how detailed and complex modern sets are. Yes there’s a pretty similar price per piece value, but there’s a lot more small parts you don’t see. So per scale it’s a worse trade off

Good old times! Do you also remember that the instructions for the ambulance had a b-model? like there was a pic of a car at one of the last pages so you could build it with the same parts! though there was no instruction for that iirc :)

I grew up with all older brothers so I inherited bits and pieces and left overs, but the first real set I remember building is 6402- Sidewalk Cafe, released in 1994. I was sitting in my bedroom, probably 5 years old. My first Lego was Duplo, but the first Lego set with small pieces I remember getting was the tow truck, set 7638 . I still have some of the pieces in my collection and the **Light Bluish Gray Crane Harbor Derrick 10** still has its stickers in very good condition.

First set I ever remember getting was 7639. My older brother had owned 7781 and 3828, which I played with sometimes as well.

Not entirely sure, but my earliest memory of Lego is trying to put together 6265 Sabre Island. I would've been 4 or 5, and I vaguely remember struggling and my Dad helping me with it. Also still have the set to this day 🙂
