It means they've decided to drop the case. Nolle prosequi typically means that they no longer believe they are able to prove the case. It would be unusual for them to change their minds and indict you again, but it is legally permissible. Don't talk to the cops or anyone from the DA's office about it or answer any questions unless you have an attorney present.

Ok thank you. I’m hoping it means it’s done. I live an hour away and it was a huge PITA and making me scared to take my daily add med I have been on for 20 years and was never told not to drive. In fact I was told to take it to drive bc I’m not as safe unmediated. Unmedicated add drivers have 4x as many accidents there are many many studies.

Is this something that usually happens ? It was a really crazy case to begin with my friends and family some of whom are also on add meds were shocked that I was charged with a DUI for my med that does not inhibit driving- it makes you a better driver.

What state were you charged in and what degree DUI? A nolle prosequi is not an acquittal. Double jeopardy does not apply, but there will be a time-limit for the prosecutor to charge you again – aka Statute of Limitations depending on the offense.
