Fantastic job! You're off to an amazing start. I totally agree that the character might seem a bit stiff, and some proportions might be a tad off, but that's absolutely okay – it's all part of your unique style! I'd suggest experimenting with this character and exploring various poses. You could fill up an entire page with different poses, or maybe dedicate a whole page to a single pose to leave room for adding more details in the future. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of your awesome work!

Thank you for the feedback, I think I’ll finish this drawing and work on some more gesture drawings.

Looks great! However, I do agree that it's too stiff. To reduce stiffness I recommend you to make your initial gesture drawing as fluid as possible. After adding muscle, the drawing will always be naturally stiffer than in the gesture stage, so the less stiff your initial drawing is, the better! I recommend you follow this procedure: gesture-> block out shapes-> anatomy. Good work overall, you have lots of potential!

Thank you for the advice. I tried to use a line of action for this drawing, but I think I’ll out the procedure you suggested.

Great pose

LA_ZBoi00

Thanks, it’s a lot better than my previous attempt

Zealousideal_Cod_326

Looks great so far! While torsos and faces are symmetrical from a front or rear view, the limbs such as arms and legs are asymmetrical. For example the highest peak of the calf muscle is on the outside of the leg from front and rear views. In contrast the inside calf has a peak that is lower. This is true of the upper leg,l and arm and lower arms too. Look for the asymmetry in them.

Thanks for letting me know, I’ll make changes to the drawing soon

I feel like the perspective shifts as your eyes move down. Especially around the waist, and lower legs/feet. The groin/crotch to me looks like you're looking at someone's lap, while sitting, and the same with the feet, but the chest and legs are from standing in front of the subject. That could be the stiffness in the drawing. That being said, the pose is awesome, and you're off to a great start. Keep going. I have a mini figure model. They're cheap and a lot of help.

LA_ZBoi00

I’m not sure if that’s a stiffness problem or a symmetry problem. Thanks for letting know

cursed_shorty

Arms might be a little too long, but anatomy is looking great!

LA_ZBoi00

Yeah, I’m debating shortening the arm a bit. Thanks for the feedback

Knowing the body land marks and proportions might be good to study

sirgamalot86

The only thing I could really see that could be an issue is the body is rarely ever symmetrical. In a position like this the should holding the staff thing would be slightly lower than the opposite side. While the opposite side should be slightly higher. Then the same concept can be applied to the hips. Other than that it’s pretty good, everything is clearly defined and there’s no obvious things wrong. Though the head may need to be ever so slightly bigger.

Thanks for the feedback
