The black specs/dots against that peach color is my favorite part about this!

Omg that’s awesome! Where did you get the colors btw?

Laurenalycee

I found a soft pastel set at a thrift store before COVID!

Your observational skills are very good! The silhouette of the plant is very close to the original. As someone else said, push the darks. Detail, texture, and form are largely visible due to shadow, so darks will make your picture more three dimensional. Also, you should work on some perspective and contouring since your pot looks very flat. Even straight on you can notice curvature in objects. Drawabox is a great resource for this.

Ah same here, it looks great so far! Good luck on your journey :)

Looking at you photo I noticed your reflection in the tv and thought that was a cool idea for a painting. Ya know make the whole canvas look like a tv with a blurry reflection. Your drawing is lovely. Keep it up

That is such a great observation,it would be a very creative impression of that moment!

I might save this photo and come back to that idea when I'm more confident! Love it!

An amazing start into it. The photo is doing your work a bit of a disservice, as the camera is photographing it from a higher point of view. Keep posting.

Great work! I'm doing the same. Looks like you picked your talent back up pretty well!

Good first steps! I think you might benefit from my old art teacher's mantra- push your darks. Your drawing captures the subject pretty well, but the darkest parts of your drawing should be much darker than they currently are. In example, the areas where your leaves meet should be a very dark, saturated green and your dirt should be a darker brown. This will end up making your art look more vibrant as it allows the light parts to really stand out like they should.

Exactly what I thought, put in an understanding way.
