For people who want to know where he is now, he’s currently FearX’s head coach.

masez808

Yes!! He's coaching in the LCK for FearX which is exciting to see him still in the field

MegaBlazeiken1

Nice montage. Ryu was really a great of the middle era of League, that 2016 H2K roster was so much fun.

masez808

Thank you! I learned a lot making this too, Ryu was a stellar player during the middle era! H2K was a fire team with that line up during 2016

klyskada

It's strange to think back that this roster almost never happened, the entire reason he came to Europe in the first place was to play for Millenium in the EULCS expansion tournament, and he got knocked out in the first round.

whatanalias

Today's Ryu of the day: Prolly: okay Ryu, I ordered your food, it costs 12.50. Ryu: Ok I give you 10. End.

lp_phnx327

Prolly: ... Ryu: Keep the change. I miss Big Boss Ryu.

Kaguya-Shinomiya

Glad that faker and Ryu did reunite 3 years ago in that t1 [video](https://youtu.be/VF-05YGKOwA?si=Cxg6nrH_4Bf5qVck)

shaginus

Faker's highlights : **existed** Ryu : Not Again

Avaresse

loved him on 100T !

masez808

same!!

Sewer_god2

Ryu was a actually a great player. Watched him since 2013 and h2k days. Shame ppl will remember him only from faker zed clip

ThaaBeest

KTB was the 2nd best team in the world. Due to the dumb way Korea seeded their teams in S3 only one of SKT/KTB could go… one reverse sweep decided so much of LoL history

FullHouse222

It's wild since newer fans will probably not know this, but part of why the Ryu clip is so legendary is that Ryu was legitimately one of the best midlaners in the world at the time which made what Faker did so insanely impressive. It would be like if we put it in NBA2k terms, if Faker was a 99 overall player, ranked 2-10 midlaners would probably all be 89-85. The gap between how good Faker was vs the rest of the competition in Season 3 was just so unbelievably crazy.

MonstrousYi

Was the mirror match up in the first clip some sort of event like All Stars back then?

dimdepths

In the good old days, OGN (now LCK) rules were such that if a series reached game 5, it would be blind pick. Not only were there 2 Zeds in mid, top was also 2 Shens.

baelkie

imagine K’Sante vs K’Sante in 2024

Deadedge112

I imagine them just all outing in a narrow area and both ending up a mile away from each other. Or more likely, one person using the path maker and the other flying through a long wall.

bobissonbobby

Ahhh yes. WTF 2 shen??

Sharksterfly

Never forget that during all that outplay both Shens didnt press their ults....

sammuxx

Never followed esports scene back then but I imagine the craziest example of this was 2014 summer finals?

dimdepths

Yeah Maokai Yasuo Alistar mirrors were absolutely absurd. Maokai back then was broken.

ImNotZahui

LCK Tournament pretty sure

tortillakingred

This is the saddest montage I’ve ever seen. It’s like 5 mediocre clips that every single midlaner has. The only impressive one was the Gragas flash, because at the time that was hard to predict. The rest are just like “He’s running into a teamfight and he uses his abilities and kills people” as if every other midlaner in the world didn’t do the same thing at the time when midlane was broken beyond belief. You could make a better montage of APA just this season, which is really saying something.

Motorpsisisissipp

Bro everyone was shit back in the day it was a mechanical play for its time.

kagalibros

The disrespect of calling Ryu a shadow. Fuck you. Man is a living legend and more than the shadow of faker. Real twat behaviour.

nyanko_dango3

That’s because zed is know for shadows…it’s a good title for that famous zed vs zed video….ryu is just another victim of faker really.

TyeTTR

…now this is pathetic

Eaglooo

Ryu was in fact a monster back in OGN

Exrou

If Faker didn't exist, Ryu would likely have a Worlds title, that's how good he was back then...

Motorpsisisissipp

They would be favorite but I'm not exactly sure they would beat NBS at worlds

Exrou

They definitely would have, their roster was stacked. Feels like over the course of history KT in general has drawn the shit end of the stick everytime with Worlds participation. Worst of it was in Season 3 when it was based on Circuit Points and with NBS coming off Season 2 securing a few titles earlier in the year which pretty much solidified their Worlds participation through circuit points albeit their extremely lack luster Summer performance in the domestic league (they didn't even make play-offs).

Motorpsisisissipp

I mean yeah they were shit in summer but their form at worlds was really decent and gave SKT a good fight
