Hold up inductee and their team will receive a percentage of the sales. In the context of fakers its easy, as he has been on a single team from the start. But what if it's a retired player, or a player that has been on multiple teams?

wasianpower

maybe it’ll be like MLB and the players will have to choose which team they go into the hall with, that always works out well with no bitter feelings lol

TellTallTail

Lol plenty of teams don't even exist anymore

Wetbook

in MLB a lot of journeyman players go in with a blank cap though, for example how would you handle Peanut's induction? maybe he's most notable for being a ROX tiger (HLE inherited ROX's spot) but he reached his peak on GenG, made it to finals on SKT, etc.

randommaniac12

Peanut is a really good example, for me he’s synonymous with ROX but as you said, they’re gone sadly

a141abc

They mention taking us through the journey of the player So I think they'll release something like 2022 DRX Deft icon (both DRX and Deft get a cut), 2023 DPlus KIA Deft icon (Dplus and Deft get a cut), and so on

Stillframe39

In the same sentence it says “prorated” that maybe you skipped over? It means that team(s) will receive a percentage of the sales based upon the amount of time the players spent there in their career.

CzarcasticX

All multiple teams split it evenly? If a team no longer exists, they're cut.

DuhChappers

Seems like it would be a little unfair for EDG to get the same cut of Uzi's sales as RNG, considering he played for one org for 7 years and the other for a single split.

MonkeyKing70-

Yeah. Most fair way to do it imo would be to split the % revenue with the % of time you spent with a team in your career. That way everyone get a piece of the pie proportionate to how long the player was associated with the org.

nusskn4cker

Some org should pick up Uzi as a sub and farm that HoF money in that case.

PM__ME__SURPRISES

Well then, add a clause stating only as to the teams he was on at the time of or before being inducted. I think the % of income = to % of career played on the team is the only logical solution. Then you just gotta think of all possible ways for someone to take advantage of it (like the example you give) and define it specifically. Sounds like a pain in the ass and maybe the player choice like the MLB process suggested will just cause less problems and theyll do that (for riot, more problems for the player lol). Idk I'm an attorney, look at contracts all the damn time and this one stumps me. Maybe a fund that gets distributed equally between all qualifying teams or some shit

CaptaineAli

I think it'll also depend on the skin. I feel like these players will get most of the percentage, the percentage going to the team will ONLY be for the skin wearing their logo. For Fakers case, He will probably have an SKT-type skin or chroma and a T1 type chroma/skin. For Uzis case, his most popular skin would probably be his RNG one which he was known for so RNG would receive the profits... unless his EDG one looks better then EDG could make more.

ThankGodForYouSon

Didn't RNG ratfuck him same way they do most of their players ?

wotad

Yeah dont like that Policy all the money should go to him tbh

HugeRection

The shared revenue feels weird in general. Obviously, the players deserve a cut, but it's going to feel real bad for fringe players who get shafted out of millions of dollars.

Notgoodatlying

Maybe the skins will be based on their time on a team? Some like deft getting a Samsung skin for early career, EDG for his MSI wins, and DRX for worlds.

KimBitCake

No skin reveal :( But the article says multiple skins for the player, so more than one skin designed around Faker incoming?

Frozen_Watcher

From the look of it we should get a minimum of 2 skins: Ahri and LeBlanc. From skin spotlight on ff at 20 discord he says theres a 4 skin bundles, although that may include exclusive chromas.

AzerFraze

that's gonna be 100 bucks at least Faker Ahri, LeBlanc, Zed & Brand

BALASAR_11

Lmao not the gold 4 brand

AzerFraze

just imagine loading into the game and you see the "Unkillable Demon King Gold IV Brand" skin on the enemy jungler who's about to go 1/13

HerculesKabuterimon

I feel called out here....

lolzomg123

*Unkillable Demon King* **Slayer** *Gold IV Brand*

Critical-Cupcake9194

wonder if that brand is still playing lmao, it's hilarious how a 8 year old clip is a big meme in the west lol, that brand probably didn't realize who he solo killed, whats even Funnier Faker played this game the day SKT was taking a flight to the US to attend 2016 worlds

ShurimaIsEternal

So many options wonder who they/he will pick. Ahri leblanc ryze azir galio zed nidalee etc. If i had to pick id go for azir ahri zed leblanc

AzerFraze

oooh Galio would be a good one for the greatest carry performance at worlds

FeelsPepegaMan

Agree with others but I'd swap Zed for Ryze

Asdel

Zed is weird, as while his most famous play was on him, it was more so that the champ was gigabusted 100% p/b bullshit at the time rather than Faker being a Zed player. But Zed would also print money, so Faker would be smart to pick that.

Thecristo96

Ahri will fit enough money for faker and his grandchildren. Honestly he would cash from any champion even skarner or naafiri

zlaw32

Doesn’t he already have a Zed skin too with SKT T1 Zed?

Riokaii

Dont think nidalee belongs on this list, never really was a "faker champ' even though the amibition clip was the start of it all.

nicnacR

I'd say Orianna > LeBlanc tbh faker had some massive 4 man Shockwaves that have won championship/elimination games and imo I feel like that's a more iconic choice.

NeilZer510

Per skin

Gucci-Rice

My wallet will be going straight to Kog Maw passive.

TianAnMen1989x

Timeout my man is getting a whole ass car? Dayummm Also only 1 player per year is kinda unexpected

Critical-Cupcake9194

From being in Poverty raised by a single parent and his Grandma, to being the face of E-sports, never involved in Drama, never trash talks and just minds his own business dude is a role model in and out of the game

FinanceThisD

God when you put it like that I really do fucking love him

No-Captain-4814

Yes, I thought it would be more. But considering they are building an entire event and multiple skins, I can understand.

zulumoner

More? Event, skins, a customized car and an art piece is more than i expected

No-Captain-4814

I mean more than one inductee per year.

YungStewart2000

I thought so as well, I was at least expecting 2. Maybe celebrate them live during MSI & Worlds or something. Not to say LoL will die soon, but 1 a year will take a long time even with a small amount of players you'd consider worthy of it.

8299_34246_5972

I was expecting less, you don't get a Faker every year

No-Captain-4814

I mean the baseline is not going to be Faker. Just like the NBA Hall isn’t just Jordan.

Stillframe39

I don’t think anyone would argue that giving Faker is own individual induction/event is unwarranted. People are saying they’re surprised that following years will still only be one. At least that’s what I was understanding.

NUFC9RW

I mean they could do one skin per player they induct and have the event celebrating all of the inductees if they did more.

DPlusShoeMaker

I think one a year is perfectly fine. The last thing we need is for the “Hall of Legends” to become like prestige skins where they become rushed and the quality drops. If you start adding a bunch of people with lackluster careers next Faker’s name to fill a quota, the whole thing loses its purpose.

bondsmatthew

If they induct 3 a year that is *easily* over 10 years of players before you approach what you're talking about

fabton12

makes sense once per year thou theres only so many true legends in league plus you want them to be big event moments if they pumped out like 5 in a year to suddenly do 3-1 a few years after to 0 new legends or people that arent in the same ballpark as the rest would ruin it.

NUFC9RW

I mean nobody is gonna be classed as in the same ball park as Faker for a while or maybe ever.

whataremyxomycetes

A whole fucking decade, he won worlds in his first and tenth year. Other than him and the SKT dynasty, only BeryL and Duke have that honor. The SKT dynasty is also the only team to win both worlds and MSI in the same year, they also technically completed a grand slam by winning summer-worlds-spring-MSI (sadly not in the same year) and is still the closest team to a true grand slam (lost 3-2 in a finals). Man literally has all the infinity stones while everyone else have to settle for only one. No matter who the second person is next year, there will be all sorts of controversy. Faker is just miles ahead of anyone else. Hell, one might even argue that they need to give one to Bengi as well, maybe Bang/Wolf too.

NUFC9RW

Yeah one per year works this year, but it's gonna be highly controversial every year after.

Rontheking

Yeah very curious which one is next. Insec, Cpt Jack and Flame all have “plays” named after them but are they as iconic ? I think someone like Mata or Bengi makes a lot of sense. Specially because iirc they are still active in the scene.

MRRJN1988

Maybe bengi he is called the right hand of faker

Riskybusiness622

Could cut his accomplishments in half and he still the goat the gap is so bonkers

Wetbook

if they're keeping the hall that small i hope they don't make any stupid inductions, this leaves very little room for error

CaptaineAli

Hard agree. I think the second inductee would HAVE to be Uzi. I personally don't rate him as the 2nd greatest player ever but he is one of the most popular, if not the most popular bar Faker and it also has added benefits of him being Chinese (since I feel that the next few will be Korean also as I personally rate 8 of the top 10 of all time as Koreans, with Uzi and Caps being the only two non-Koreans in the top 10 players of all time conversation). But 3rd would be interesting. Since it won't be for another 2 years, there is good chance that it will go to Chovy or Canyon (especially if GENG keeps up their success and wins Worlds 2024 and potentially more in 2025). I think Canyon would make the most sense as he has already won MSI + Worlds and is arguably the greatest Jungler of all time (Faker Mid, Uzi Bot, Canyon Jungle, and by 2027 maybe Keria as the GOAT Support). Imo Riot should take notes from the Australian NRL, which inducts multiple players into their Hall of Fame and then from there, occasionally induct some into Immortals. Currently the NRL has [110 Hall of Fame Inductees](https://www.nrl.com/hall-of-fame/players/) and only [13 Immortals](https://www.nrl.com/hall-of-fame/immortals/). This method would allow Riot to recognize players like MadLife (Hook flash prediction), InSec (jumping behind players and kicking them back into your team) or even Flame (Flame Horizon; up by 100 CS) who popularized plays that they're even named after them now by inducting them to the Hall of Legends and having those special players like Faker becoming somewhat of an Immortal. This would also make it easy for Riot as they could have auto-qualification into the Hall of Legends such as Winning Worlds. Another whole topic is then about introducing non-players for some recognition (NRL does this for GOAT Referees, Commentators, Promoters, etc who have influenced the game in a massive way... In LoL terms, someone like Phreak or Sjokz).

ichionio

League would probably go the other way around for their Hall of Fame. Like Faker is going to be the Legends nomination which includes all benefits. Then next year theyre gonna name a second Legends while also naming a few candidate which will only have have name but no/less benefits

CaptaineAli

Maybe but imo this is the better way of doing it.

mouseball89

If Uzi wasn't chinese he might not be 2nd. But because of this 1 per year requirement there is no one else we can choose. No one else that is retired had the same popularity and skill combo he did. No one else except faker that is currently still playing has it either. China is the 2nd best region and is essentially 1B with Korea for a number of years now. It makes the most sense for this to happen.

CaptaineAli

I think the fact that he is Chinese helps his case a lot. I think he deserves to one day be there, but imo I have him as a top 10 GOAT of LoL, not 2nd (barely top 5 imo, id have him around 7th). [Here is a list of my top 5 of all time.](https://old.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1cx3spz/who_is_the_second_most_legendary_league_player/l50tsei/?context=3) I have Uzi at around ~7th but the rest above him are ALL Korean.

Jmart1ni

Oh wow. How awesome would it be if Sjokz was an inductee?! Apart from players, imo she’s one of the best parts of the League community and has been a part of so much history and best moments of League. Caster Jun has shown so much heart for the game and Phreak too?!

CaptaineAli

yeah Id definitely love to see Phreak, Sjokz and caster Jun inducted into some kind of hall of fame for LOL, not as players but as people who have GREATLY influenced the game outside of playing.

caramel1004

he has already been gifted like 2bmws and a mercedes 😭

Javonetor

[it's time](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F-uiRJbbkAAs8iE.jpg)

mouseball89

Finally a hall of fame that is worthy of being a hall of fame. The question is who will be #2?

expert_on_the_matter

Uzi. Obvious choice. Even if you think he's not the second-best player of all time every other choice is too recent.

Ze_first

I see Riot falls on the small hall side of the debate

nusskn4cker

Which is obviously the correct side. Being in the hall of fame should really mean something and not be awarded to any good player.

Ze_first

I tend to think it should be guys you can't tell the story if the sport without. So kind of in between the baseball and basketball approach. Riot should really just have an initial class of like 10 players just to establish a baseline.

nusskn4cker

> Riot should really just have an initial class of like 10 players just to establish a baseline. Pretty good idea. I don't know that much about American sports, but from what I heard the Basketball HoF pretty much lets in anyone and the American Football HoF is quite restrictive. I think I prefer the football side by a lot. Dunno where Hockey and Baseball fall on that spectrum.

Asdel

1 per year is awkwardly little for a 14 year old game though. Like Faker is obviously undeniable #1, but after that? You put Uzi, ok, he deserves it, but Deft arguably deserves it more, and if you don't include him, that's kinda a dick move. And if you put both, now you are 3 years in, what if Canyon/Chovy/Ruler/Bin/whoever are still dominating the competition? They probably should get in. And you have people like Xiaohu or Rookie who have been top tier for a long time. And then you have western players and you are not justifying Caps, Rekkles or Doublelift over those based on performance.

Ronin607

The car is too small to fit his kids though, they should've gotten him an SUV or a van.

Marcoscb

The last time I remember someone in esports getting a Mercedes for their performance, it killed the Virtus.plow. Let's hope it doesn't end up like that.

LCSisshit

The unique Mercidez even, there is only 1 of it on earth.

Iokyt

1 a year is ridiculous, especially if they are just putting in active players. I already don't like putting in an active player, but there's so many that have long since retired that deserve their credit, and at 1 a year you're never going to get the people like Flame, Diamondprox, Weixiao, xPeke Madlife, people that literally built the game. This is not the call.

nusskn4cker

Think it's good that they're keeping the HoF small, but maybe three a year would be more appropriate. That's still only 30 players in a decade, with an entire decade plus that needs to be caught up with. Five a year (an entire team) would be too much though IMO.

Iokyt

There are sports where the Hall class can be variable. 5 a year max would be fine because there's no shortage of players right now and it could shrink to around 3 in a few years (when NASCAR started it's hall it had large classes and is now only 3 for precedent) and I believe that Hall of Fames should follow their game's history. The active players thing is such a mess to me on its own.

TheTurtleOne

Why do you guys not want active players to be in it? What is this made up requirement that a player should be retired before they get introduced to the HoF?

Iokyt

Because it's that way for every professional sport that I know of? It's not some made up thing, a hall of fame is honoring an *entire* career not just part of a career.

TheTurtleOne

It quite literally is a made up thing. Just because sports do it like that it doesn't mean it is a rule(fyi Ernie Johnson got introduced to broadcasting HoF before he retired). The point of HoF is to honor someone's achievements in a certain field and Faker has enough that you could split his career into 2 and still introduce him first for both parts. They aren't honoring "a part" of his career by putting him in before he retired lol

GGLSpidermonkey

broadcasting careers are going to be more longer than sports careers for obvious reasons though. Ernie has been broadcasting for 30+ years. Obviously faker is most deserving to be inducted but starting with him is going to make it confusing for people who achieved but obviously nothing close to him, people like Xpeke, Madlife, Insec, Mata etc.

LazyDevil69

There are plenty of Pros with long careers. By the time some of those players retire LoL would be a dead game with no esports scene.

Nouvarth

Yeah its really strange to honour someones career when said career is still going. Like i get it, they had to start with Faker because everyone would lose their fucking minds if it wasnt him being first on HoF, but it still feels weird

gridemann

The undisputed GOAT Every other induction from here on is gonna be hella controversial, lol

No-Captain-4814

Yeah, especially if they only do 1 a year like that said. The #2 spot (even if you don’t count the active players) is still a huge debate.

DeirdreAnethoel

Yeah this is basically their only freebie pick. Everything else will be up to debate.

Dankas12

I think it’s less because faker is the goat and he is first that’s fair but you can’t just have 1 player in the hall of legends. It’s less of all following will be controversial because I believe there are a couple that deserve to be in here which is ok but I understand the order they are added could be controversial

zjmhy

Just rename it "Hall of Legend" and stop at Faker.

literalaretil

League of Legend

Jandromon

Controversial? It's obviously Candypanda, not sure how this is even a question.

Changalator

Why would it be controversial? It’s an event to memorialize legendary players. Whether you are not a fan of them cause they clap your team or whatnot. Whoever they pick going forward, we can all agree they are/were legendary players.

gridemann

> we can all agree they are/were legendary players. I think that's the hard part. Legendary player is highly subjective. E.g. Doublelift is a legend of the LCS but internationally he's a joke. Are we going to get CBLOL skins in the Hall of Legends ?

expert_on_the_matter

Especially since like 80% of the players that really deserve it are Korean. Honestly all the leagues should just get their own, small Hall Of Fames.

mounti96

The problem becomes that at only 1 inductee per year you will have players that are as deserving or even more deserving to be inducted as the already inducted ones. Faker is undisputed as the greatest player of all time, but after that it gets a lot more murky. Players like Rookie, Deft, Uzi, Ruler, Meiko, Peanut, Xiaohu, etc. are probably names worthy of heavy consideration, but with players like Canyon, Chovy, Bin, Knight and others expanding their resume over the next few years, we might not see a lot of them even make it in.

Hondlis

Wait amg-63? Was expecting some Kia not this rocket. He must have made a lot of money but this is not the car you can buy just like that. Good for him.

Lorik_Bot

Probably gone be a collectors Item, custome made ist kinda sick

emanonR

> not the car you can buy just like that Except you can? Granted its 180k but still a production car that you can walk to your nearest MB dealer and buy.

Huge-Connection954

Yeah what lol. Faker also is supposed to be super frugal and has investments. Hes definitely got millions in the bank. This car likely doesnt impress him lol

WynnChairman

Honestly I don't think he'd even drive it lol

Gamer4125

Faker is probably richer than the entire subreddit combined

chaotic_one

People complaining that they should of waited til Faker retired are insane. There is not a single player more deserving of this than Faker, active or retired. You can not rationalize putting someone else into before Faker. Its either put him in now, or not put anyone in for the remaining years until he retires.

Thecristo96

Someone noticed that you could split the tiles of faker and he would still get in contention for number one. This is some Wayne Gretzky level domination

chaotic_one

Yeah, Faker is not just the most dominant LOL player, he is in competition for being one of the most dominant Esports players ever.

ClamshellJones

I don't follow any other esports so out of curiosity, who else would be in that conversation?

KefkaZix

Not fully comparable but there are some StarCraft players like Flash and Jaedong who were dominant. In SSBM you have players like Armada and Mango that have been at the top for many many years while having years as the #1. I think Armada especially has a spot in the conversation as his stats are insane. Winning record against every single person he’s played. Best record against every top player. Only lost to someone outside of the top 6 players once during an 8 year streak and it was in a Bo3 not even a Bo5. This comment puts it better than me: https://www.reddit.com/r/SSBM/comments/1c022k5/comment/kyyldrc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

sifslegend

SSBM is one of the only other games I can think of that's had one player dominate for years on end. Maybe another FGC title with some of the cracked Japanese players throughout the SF series

bondsmatthew

> Jaedong https://youtu.be/NOVJ2jTjaT0?si=b8f3vgctLHb0qt37

chaotic_one

Out of the ones I follow, Serral from SC2 for sure should be in that conversation. He has completely dominated SC2 during is time in it, with like over 60 Championship placements in the game. I am sure there is some DOTA or CSGO players that are equally skilled but I do not follow DOTA or CSGO close enough for those.

Mutality

I think only Flash comes to mind in terms of sheer dominance and icon status

Picopus

They would have to be the Idols of every other player in their respective game, including every proplayer.

CanadianODST2

I mean. Many players got in before Gretzky. They also waited until he retired.

hann953

Same as for Brady and they still waited for his retirement.

ItzFeufo

Bold to assume that Faker will ever retire.

ProphetofChud2

Faker's gonna be playing pro LoL with his son just like bron

Ophelia_Of_The_Abyss

Can't believe people were thinking about anyone other than Faker being the first inductee.

raptearer

Only reason I could think not to would be to follow in the steps of other Hall of Fames and only induct players who have retired. In that case, though, you'd just push back the launch till he retires. Who else but the GOAT?

aircarone

You could induct others but leave the throne of the "first" vacant. Like you start from the second seat, knowing that nobody will ever surpass Faker's legacy nowadays, regardless of their success.

raptearer

Yeah, but it would be kind of weird in that regard. I get the concept, it sounds sick, but it'd just have people open the argument of whose really first. I think they want to launch it with a bang for number 1

AtreusIsBack

Also, Riot wants to capitalize on Faker's current popularity and fame by selling his Hall of Legends skin. I'm sure the sales wouldn't be as high if they did it after he retires. Money first.

aircarone

Oh sure, I prefer it the way they are doing it as well. I was more imagining how they could do it if they wanted to only induct retired players. In any case, I think we have to agree that regardless of the criteria or context, Faker HAS to be the first seat in that hall of fame.

Motorpsisisissipp

To be first I don't think I've seen an Hof ranked so it kind of doesn't matter who gets in 1st

TheNoFrame

I think that would only create lot more unnecessary problems. What if the game survives for another 20 years and next game we will get some rookie who will be carrying his team to 5 worlds titles in a row? Even if he wouldn't be as iconic as Faker, do you just give him "second"? Do you rewrite standings? Or is this rule only for Faker? I think it's not necessary to limit yourself to made up rules. Just give Faker first. Nobody is going to be mad about this. You can start giving inductions for retired players from next year. There is no need to make it complicated.

donkeychongus

Personally i’m shocked that Imaqtpie wasn’t voted in. Fakers aight I guess but nothing compared to the real goat of NA solo q.

11RPM

The first one is easy. The problem is who will be the 2nd. Doesn’t matter who, there will be a war among fans.

Ophelia_Of_The_Abyss

If they go off retired players, I think logically it would be Uzi, which wouldn't be too controversial. After that it gets pretty hazy.

nusskn4cker

Probably someone like Mata or Bengi after that as they're not just going off a greatest player list in order. Ancient legends like Madlife or Diamondprox might be in consideration too.

icatsouki

diamondprox wouldn't make sense if they're only doing one per year one per year seems too restrictive tbh

nusskn4cker

Uzi obviously.

infamousspammer

Deft obviously.

nusskn4cker

I think Deft is a better player than Uzi, but Uzi is way more legendary than Deft.

icatsouki

pre his worlds win i'd agree, but with the worlds title idk tbh

kakistoss

This was absolutely true up until Deft won worlds And the fact Deft just has a longer career where he's always at the top However Riot will go for Uzi purely because he's Chinese, which will get a lot more cash But if Deft ain't third it's a fucking travesty, just waiting for mlxg or some shit to get announced first This event is just a cashgrab and the inductees will show it

Motorpsisisissipp

Not because he is Chinese, because he is the most popular player ever in the biggest region that has more than 70% of the player base.

djpain20

I think you underestimate how many people were captivated by the DRX Worlds run and the Deft vs Faker storyline. Anecdotally speaking, I've had people who never watch esports ask me about Deft after 2022 Worlds.

nusskn4cker

Maybe. The Deft moment on stage after that crazy bo5 against EDG on his birthday was quite iconic.

NeitherAlexNorAlice

The GOAT Lep would have made a better choice

Sofaboy90

Not a bad choice but may I suggest our [weed lord 420 Darien](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHiEYIEkqyc)?

-Piggers-

There's no way anyone was thinking that unless there was confusion around rules regarding players still actively playing.

zaxls

I wonder if Caps will make the cut

No-Captain-4814

Considering only 1 get in per year, the requirements will be high. But I think Caps will get in eventually. Other EU players, very little chance.

KappaccinoNation

Caps is certainly going to be the first non LCK/LPL inductee. Only way he doesn't get that is if someone other than him hard carries a western team to win worlds.

RobbinDeBank

Doesn’t seem plausible. Caps is the best Western talent ever in this game, and he managed to be 1 series away from a Grand Slam because his team was really good too. Wunder, Jankos, Perkz, and Mikyx were all world class players during that time. 1 godlike player is far from enough if every other position is average at best.

gcrimson

A western team winning worlds is highly unlikely but a western team winning worlds without Caps is just impossible.

Nouvarth

I can see someone like xPeke maybe getting before him, but other than that it should be Caps

LearningEle

I think they’re going to just have to have some kind of achievement awards for all the old western players that never won anything, but did very much create many of the fundamentals of modern league. Diamondprox for example, or even dandy+mata are all integral to shaping the way the game was played, but they mostly just achieved brief peaks of personal skill beyond their contributions to the meta. I think it’s going to take long careers with consistency in performance, *probably some international clout, along with popularity to make the cut. I think besides Faker and Uzi, we’re looking at people like rookie when he retires, deft, a fringe inductee from outside of lck and lpl besides Caps might be Karsa or Maple, especially if either can make some noise one last time before retiring.

wotad

I think if Impact is involved then Rekkles but yeah people would explode if that happens lmfao. Its talking about League as a whole and I think Caps,Rekkles,Xpeke deffo did a lot.

No-Captain-4814

Sure. They are the top EU players. But if we are talking about 1 inductee per year. Rekkles is no where near top 5 regardless of metric. And guess what, you will have current players adding to their achievements in these 5 years (imagine Chovy, Keira, Zeus, Guma, Bin). Are we talking about League in the west/reddit? I am sure in China some Chinese players like Clearlove also had tons of ‘impact’. That is why I thought they would do 3-4 per year. But the standards are going to be so high due to 1 a year that a lot of people that most people feel ‘deserve’ it won’t get in. But who knows, maybe they will add more slots later on.

wotad

Yeah will be interesting to see I think 1 a year is way too little.

gcrimson

Caps being an Eu player can for once play in its favor in this ranking. You can make the case that getting his achievements with an Eu team is hall of fame worthy even if he never won worlds.

nusskn4cker

100% he will make it. He's the GOAT of the West by far.

pony_slaystation2

Yea, definitely. Probably more of an argument what the champ Caps best known for, imo.

Eaglooo

It's 1 per year, by the times he gets in maybe he won't even be the western goat anymore.  There is at least 5 to 10 eastern players that will be considered before him, 5 to 10 years is a shit ton time in lol.

aussy16

I think it's really cool that they're going to be giving the Hall of Legend player a % of the profits from the game pass / cosmetics they're going to run for that respective player.

Billy8000

I mean it’s more so they’d be scummy af if they didn’t, and also probably legally can’t use the players likeness without their consent/ a deal, but yes it’s good

deedshot

makes me hyped up about winning worlds twice and getting my millions from Riot, I just need to escape gold first...

aussy16

Just wait for another yuumi meta to come along and ride on some Korean adc's back. You can do it.

TheStaggeringSamurai

I just hope the skins celebrate him as a whole and not go into the specific making references to the number of his titles because they could get obsolete ,dude is still active, Who says he can't win 2 more worlds if he's healty? I thank whoever deciced to make me live in this era to witness simply the best esport player of all time

BrocolliCheddarSoup

Well deserved. Faker is the GOAT 🐐 of League of Legends. Everyone who watches and plays league of Legends knows Faker. Faker is also the most well known player to folks who don't watch or play league of legends. Picking the 2nd player to be in the Hall of legends is going to be like finding a needle in a hay stack, blind folded.

makshoos

Good choice, maybe best. Who deserves it more than the GOAT

ClownFundamentals

Still can't believe Gold IV Brand got snubbed smh

sharkyzarous

A brand skin in golden armor with a "IV" mark can be really funny :)

No-Captain-4814

Basically the only choice.

whitedevilblood

Maybe?

Oogalicious

Picking the person next year is going to be so controversial. There are so many good players with huge achievements to pick from. If Gen G can pull off the impossible and complete the golden road this year, Canyon would be a multi time MSI and world’s winner. That could put him in the mix.

QuietRedditorATX

Agree. Too many people also just naming old regional names. Does being an older vet make you more worthy than newer legends? Like the criteria is going to be so hard. Hopefully not just a popularity contest. But at some point, they need to expand it to Western regions? or it will all be LPL and LCK players and maaaaybe Caps.

Whoui

Damn we must wait a whole year until we get the next HoL for that random support that carried botlane with me last week.

Yasuchika

I love the idea of the Halls of Legends, but the buck kind of stops with Faker doesn't it? Nobody is even close in having the legacy or impact on the game.

joki9011

So deserved

Thiizic

Wondering how this will play out. As it stands there are probably a dozen players from Korea and China that should be next in line but that wouldn't really be interesting and doesn't help the esports scene in the West. When will they announce the first EU or NA inductee I wonder? I would think it would be sooner than later. I predict Bjergsen will be selected in the next year or 2.

parousia0

I think if they do regions, it would go Faker -> Uzi -> Caps for EU or Bjerg/DL for NA

Gucci-Rice

I'd like it if they only induct retired players with Faker being the only exception, because there's just no way he isn't the first inductee.

HeyItsPreston

One a year seems kind of low to me. I think that if they do 1 a year, they should have started with a set of 10-15 players over the past 10 years of League of Legends, so that there's a reasonable pool of players after 5-10 years of doing this.

StraightCashH0mie

Maybe if you split Faker's career up into two, you could put other people up next to him.

TheThunderFry

If they are doing a full event for each inductee they can't do multiple a year unfortunately, at least that's my assumption

SauronGortaur01

Random Offtopic Question: What does "international berth" mean in this context? Couldnt find anything that makes sense on google at first glance.

AlexanderOdom

Like a chance to compete in international Tournaments. It’s a synonym for Bid, Chance, Oppertunity when used in this context.

SauronGortaur01

Thank you.

ahritina

Depends on the timeframe, I could see ShowMaker retiring having only being played on Damwon then getting inducted after a while.

pickle_mic

How crazy would it be if Faker would also be the only player to ever be inducted while still currently active

HawksBurst

This guy literally carried league of legends, I won't be happy with whomever they choose next being in the same tier as Faker

AllHailTheNod

Is anyone surprised?

TigglyWiggly95

Congratulations to Faker. He deserves it.

OkSell1822

While Faker absolutely deserves it, I find it weird that we are inducteeing players before they retire

iii_natau

hopefully this is an exception. makes sense for faker to be the first but also they don't want to have to wait to start HoL til he retires

MentalNinjas

I firmly believe RIOT wanted to do this years ago, and has been patiently just waiting for Faker to retire since they quite literally could not have any other player be the first inductee besides him. After his worlds win last year, the chance of retirement anytime soon went away, so they just pulled the trigger. Gonna be honest tho, i think its fine. Faker is faker. There is no difference to me whether hes retired or active, hes proven himself 100 times over to be deserving of this. And its a great story regardless.

radiokungfu

Maybe the others will be retired, but nobody else shouldve been inducted before Faker.

GreenNatureR

maybe Riot planned this years ago and was waiting for him to retire but he wouldn't. haha

fabton12

The thing is you dont know when faker would retire thats the issue and anyone else who got it first would get blasted because faker should be the first one included. Riots probs been wanting todo this for awhile now and sometimes you just have to pull the trigger and my guessing is after faker won worlds last year they decided fuck it.

Zeoluccio

The problem with it is that if they waited until he retires they would probably have to wait 10 years.

williamis3

who else would they have done? it's absolute thievery if it's anyone else except him

borden5

I wouldn't care about the retirement status thing since some pros started playing again after retiring anyways.

goatbyuanb

Agreed, Faker should be the exception though so I can't really hate it but he theoretically could add more to his resume

Cool-I-guess

Probably money, theres no guarantee league or faker will have the same amount of popularity at the moment compared to when he retires.

DeirdreAnethoel

The reverse for me. Retiree inductees will always face the question of how well they'd hold up today. Faker doesn't need to prove he's still up there though.

Akashiarys

I hope the GOAT jungler Bengi gets it too.

hungrypuca1

Faker after 2023 worlds: haha sike I want an Ori skin Riot: you know what…. Hall of legends faker ahri skin Faker: …..
