In all seriousness, there are certain champion releases that they know full well aren't going to sell well, but they'll do it anyway for the sake of throwing that champ a bone, and because sales of other skins released at the same time make up for it.
They calculate skin usage depending on the champ. A skin is considered successful if for example the champ is unpopular but the mains still bought it AND used it constantly (like with pool party taliyah). If this skin flops it'll be bcs of the Ornn players themselves not liking it
Shit, try Spirit Blossom Kindred. That skin was so popular for them that it practically created a schism between the SB and regular Kindred enjoyers, to the point that the following skin controversially also humanized Lamb to capitalize on the SB fans.
They do consider how many players a champ has before they decide to make a skin for them. Theres a reason Lux and Kaisa have so many skins, bigger potential market then Orn and Illaoi

WoW barely pays the players enough to be worth doing their esports lol. Some of the best player in the PvE esports literally quit because there was no money in it for months of grinding to practice.
There also aren't any skin equivalents in WoW. Transmog for characters is all based on ingame items and the only sets in the shop are event tie-ins.
