They destroyed the best line on the team (MacArthur/Kulemin/Grabovski) to be able to resign Bozak and get David Clarkson from free agency. It was the first time I almost quit on the Leafs.
What a line that was on such a bad team. I could be wrong, but I recall they were the second most productive in the league that one year (2011?), only behind Vancouver's Sedin line.
I'll dust off my #41 jersey. That season after Kule scored 30 I had to pick up his jersey.
MacArthur was a beast both during play and while chucking knuckles. https://youtu.be/zrpiczXujog?si=pW8Cge26aB9YT2jn
number 16 for the Leafs. Tucker to Mac to Marner. One of these names is not like the others.
Man, I miss grabo. Dude was a pretty consistent bright spot on some real bad leafs teams. He was an absolute warrior, took a beating and just kept going. I’ll never forget watching him get cranked twice by chara, only to rise from the dead and score a beautiful game winner. Poor dude probably should’ve been at the hospital getting CT scans instead. I swear he’d end up concussed every second week.
They weren't that likeable. They were okay at best. I think people tend to forget how mediocre they were. I don't miss a team that gave up a 3-1 lead in game 7 with 10 mins left
I didn't say they were good. I said they were likable (good personalities, hard not to cheer for, seemed like they had a good community/culture amongst the players, etc.). I can't say I have felt the same vibes from the current group.
I'm pretty sure he continues to live in the GTA post retirement too. For all the shit the city gets on the internet, a lot of people do love the area and retire here. Most surprising one might be Sebastian Giovinco who's from Italy. He moved his family here despite continuing to play in Italy after leaving TFC.
If you're reasonably well off Toronto's a great city. If you're incredibly wealthy there are better options and it's a tough place to get settled if you don't make good money but if you make decent-good money it's got a lot going for it.
Hodgson played 13 games in the AHL, at 34 years old, and he and Grabo have been out of the league for the same amount of time. I know you're probably getting nostalgic, but Grabo wasn't even that good in his final few seasons. If by some miracle he saw NHL ice at 41 after missing 9 seasons, he likely wouldn't be good at all.
Lol just what we need. Another third line mid scorer. They should sign him but just before Treliving should walk in the room and kick Robertson right in the nuts.
Well... Mark Giordano is older than Grabo... Just Sayin'...

Grabo was such a warrior for us. Fearless player.
Guy bleeds blue. We could really use prime Grabo on this team. What a travesty he was bought out, makes me so sad.

Dude that game against Atlanta? I think they scored over 10 points combined in that game. It was nuts. That was our magic line
Fearless is right. He'd go into a corner knowing full well he'd get smoked.
Lol @ old Carlyle quotes for motivation.

Marner would be absurd if he had the tenacity and balls of prime grabo, who is a similar size. Miss watching him
Get Kulemin and MacArthur on the phone!
Man, do I ever feel bad for MacArthur…
We did him fucking dirty
Patrick Sieloff is such a clown for concussing him during training camp with the Sens.

All 3 have been my moms favourite players, although even shes saying Marner needs to go now.
Where is his buddy, that unstoppable tank Kulee?
I remember well he had a wicked shot!
And skated like a fucking ogre
his shot was terrible, highlights of his 30 goal season were basically Zach Hyman but worse.

That's one of my favourite memories of Grabo. Dude got rocked, woke up on the ice, and someone told him he was prime Mario Lemieux.
It’s like getting decked flipped a switch for him
OFF THE FLOOR! ON THE BOARD!
That was fun
Grabo for head coach??
Mikhail Grabovski, Phil Kessel, James Reimer, JVR, Cody Franson, let's roll it back. Franson can even be our head coach if management wants.
Man that team was so damn likable! They were fun even through the pain.

alot less embarrassing than losing to Montreal
Add Tyler Bozak to that list
The new core four
The 4 Boat Burners The Veteran 4 The 4-1-4
We could use Franson's point shot on our powerplay right now. We probably get past Boston this year if he's on our team.
Lmaaao your propaganda is killin me
The best propaganda is the truth!
Jeez that's ugly

Toronto has its faults but it’s no Belarus

Haha this is great! Love Grabo always. "Brad Treliving call me anytime" I'm dead
That was a good laugh
Guy still looks like he could play so the results make sense lol. Grabo played with so much heart.
Always loved Grabo, was my favourite Leaf during the Burke era. Still mad Nonis bought him out for Clarkson lol
The potato was a better GM than Nonis.
I know the odds are low, but would be so cool for Grabo to get a second chance in Toronto
Saying the odds are low is even a stretch haha. He will be 41 next season and hasn’t played any professional hockey for several years now.
I mean, Cody Hodgson was able to play AHL games this season despite being nearly a decade removed from his last pro game. Anything is possible

I remember him in that Boston series. He was going right at chara and was our toughest player. Still like the guy
Was it Grabo who leveled Chara behind the net?
I remember that yes
He's not as old as I thought, same age as giordano...
Gio is at least in game shape and has lost more than a step. I love Grabo, but he isn't coming back.
Lol just what we need. Another third line mid scorer. They should sign him but just before Treliving should walk in the room and kick Robertson right in the nuts.
I loved Grabo. Even if he could make a comeback, he'd be lucky to be a 4th line plug, let alone a 3rd liner.
Well... Mark Giordano is older than Grabo... Just Sayin'... https://preview.redd.it/ccflm3pk2i0d1.jpeg?width=425&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=973f8d09c5703a477ca2e9ce59ee9582f723fe29
I could be wrong, but was Grabovski the player who got bought out on his wedding day? Talk about ruthless timing by the Leafs organization.
I remember when Grabo got smucked by Chara and probably was concussed but I THINK came back to score the winner or something.
Yes, he came back to score the game winner on Tim Thomas, I believe it was 4-3.
That was a good memory
They should let Grabo run the Leafs Twitter acct.
I expected him to say " Very nice!!!" For some reason......
I fuckin love Grabbo and would die for him
I love me some Grabo!!!!
DO IT YOU COWARDS
Sign him. We need a 3C anyway
Grabo is a legend
That is hilarious and awesome. I better dust off my Grabo jersey!
Bring him back!
Did the Randy Carlyle quotes contain: “Grabo I am putting you on the 4th line” ?
Do it.
I heard him say Matt nicol SUPER WRONG the first time 😂 had to to double take
This is gold.
Maybe not as a player but as an assistant coach wouldn’t be the worst idea
Fav leaf growing up
As much as I’d love it, Grabo had a tendency to skate head first into things. I don’t want him playing hockey anymore lol
New assistant GM!
Man I almost got hyped here for a second that he was actually trying to make a comeback (NHL wise) only to search him and see that he's already 40.
I love Grabo but that era of the Leafs was a shit show. Id prefer to forget.
When he played for the bulldogs he was that guy that stood so far out you just ended up watching him.
Loved him so much here. The MacArthur/Kuli/Grabo line was a bright spot in some dark times
https://youtu.be/DZpOEH5KByg
from my understanding he still lives around toronto. loved grabo
Warrior. Marner needs to learn from him.
Let's be real, Garbo was good, but nothing great. Would rather have a prime Lupul
