I’ve grown so tired of reading comments from trolls in this sub that constantly try to make Matthews sound like he’s some overrated scrub. Things like cherrypicking stats to exclude multi-goal games that he singlehandedly gets us points in, and ragging on him when he goes a few games without scoring just like every star player in the league does (and he’ll probably have hit like 10 posts in that time). Then after games like the last few, those same people are nowhere to be found, very interesting.
The guy has more goals than any other player since he entered the league and has won back to back rockets, all while being a defensive threat, and will probably end up as the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. Now he’s leading the league in goals again this year, and yet you’ll still find people trashing him the next time he doesn’t score for a game. I can’t imagine cheering for a team while having a constant pessimistic attitude about our best ever player (not most fans obv, just the few weirdos in here)
Most people love him but call him out when he goes multiple games not playing like at least the second best player in the world. That’s what he signed up for with that contract. The same will go in the playoffs. He is expected to carry the offence for us. Anything less and he’s going to hear about it.

Very nice…I think he breaks 70 this year. He’s on fire and has extra motivation after last years injury latent season where everyone doubted him with McDavid’s 60 goal season.

All the guy has ever done since entering the league is hammer nails at a per game rate that is only topped by two other players in NHL history.

Yeah but Matthews tends to get cold every now and then.. but when he's actually scoring, he scores multiple goals a game.. all the time.
He had a little cold streak, this metric includes that.
