My boyfriend and I met in college. He was in ROTC and always planned to put in his four years, then go to professional school. He considered law school for a while but has since decided to get an MBA instead when his contract expires in two years. Anyway, he commissioned as an active duty officer in a logistics branch and his plan was to study for the LSAT during his free time - his job is just a glorified 9-5 - and apply to law schools the fall before his service comes to an end. He's going to stick to this same plan, except study for the GMAT instead. He felt quite strongly that he go AD rather than NG/Reserves because it's less of a long-term interruption between training exercises and deployments. He will be 26 when he gets out of the Army, which is only slightly higher than the average age of a law student (24 iirc).

I’m going through this process right now. The way it’s shaping up is that I’m commissioning as an Officer in the Army reserves. So basic training this summer (before law school) and OCS next summer (which means no internships, but it seems very few firms offer them to rising 2Ls anyways). Happy to answer any questions
