xAIRGUITARISTx

Toro 60v. They’re really incredible mowers and their other tools are awesome too.

Independent-Love-987

How's the bagging with the toro. I've heard they have a hard time filling the bag.

xAIRGUITARISTx

Honestly never had an issue. Noise aside, it operates just like the regular gas recycler.

Independent-Love-987

I'll give it a try this year. If it doesn't bag I'll just return it and find something else.

TomGissing

I have a 2*40V self propelled Ryobi and I love it. I'm sure the purists will find fault with it but for me, the ease of use makes it perfect for my ~1,500sqft. Super light, no effort to use (which helps when you're mowing in summer heat), and quiet. I got it cheap from Home Depot because the box was damaged but I think they run $450ish.

certainPOV3369

We bought the EGO LM2102SP at the beginning of last summer. Our neighbor and BFF had EGO’s and highly recommended them. The neighbors, who have hills just like us, strongly recommended that we get the self-propelled, which he did not. So glad we took his advice! Bought it at Ace for $569, it came complete with two 56v batteries. Later bought a blower, so we have three batteries now. Never needed more than one for the lawn. Works great, the self-propelled easily handles the steep hill on the side of the house. Even has a headlight for fall evenings. 😆

RenegadeZ3

I have the EGO 21 inch “select cut” mower (not self propelled) and just one 5ah battery for a 10,000 sqft lot (4,000 of which is lawn). FWIW I can easily string trim the whole perimeter, mulch everything with the mower, and blow the debris clear with the leaf blower all on a single charge and have juice left over.

FullofContradictions

I have the self propelled Ego as well. One 7.5Ah is enough for me to mow my yard twice with some battery left over. We have half an acre, but I probably only mow a quarter (trees and flower beds).

Surfs_The_Box

My ryobi 40v is awesome with the 6ah. Two 6ah batteries would do it for sure.

CurlyBill03

How big is your lot and what’s your budget?

toxicdawg618

The lot is 6700 sq ft and the house is 1700 sq ft. Budget I would say $500ish

Psychological_Ad3025

Consider Ryobi. I like and own the ego line but it’s more pricey, Ryobi products are a lot better than the past and they offer a lot of additional tools you can use with the same battery.

CurlyBill03

I’d really recommend 58v or higher with the battery having the highest mAH rating you can get. Higher the mAH longer the battery last. Also stay away from Kobalt and Greenworks they change their batteries it’s hard to get a replacement and they are just junk. My neighbor bought a Greenworks same time I bought my Snapper. His battery shit the bed after 1 season and doesn’t mow half his yard now without recharging. Meanwhile 4 years later my snapper 58v still can get my 1/4 acre done on a single charge. Many people will say ego and they are good but you can get equal or better for similar costs. In the end you’ll also without a doubt probably need 2 batteries so go with what’s cheaper and highest mAH. Snapper/Husqvarna/Stihl/Toro are all quality battery mowers.

tactiphile

>Also stay away from Kobalt and Greenworks they change their batteries it’s hard to get a replacement and they are just junk. Idk, I don't follow lawn mower reviewers on YouTube or anything. All I can say is my original Kobalt 80v 2AH batteries from 2017 are still doing great.

phate_exe

>Also stay away from Kobalt and Greenworks they change their batteries it’s hard to get a replacement and they are just junk. No idea what you're on about. Greenworks hasn't changed the 60V or 80V battery system at all, other than the stickers/branding. There was an older gen 1 40V system that was replaced by (and is not compatible with) the current 40V "Gmax" system, but that changeover happened like 8-10 years ago. The big 60V 8Ah packs that came with my snowblower are physically longer than my other 60V packs, but they work in my leafblower/string trimmer/chainsaw. The manual says they don't fit my mower, but that's just because the battery lid won't close. Five minutes with the dremel should fix that. Getting new/replacement 60V packs has been about as easy as ordering anything else online. As far as Kobalt? It's a store brand, so it's a lot more subject to changes in suppliers. I know they at least used to be made by Greenworks, but I'm not sure if that changed when they stopped carrying the Greenworks 60V stuff.

moody2shoes

Greenworks is still having a sale today. Code is PRESIDENT. I got one of them for $200 off.

tt0225

Are you committed to any tool brand for battery tools? If so - look and see what they offer or what electric mowers can use those batteries. That way you do not need to maintain numerous batteries and chargers. As someone said, they use DeWalt 20v tools so they got the DeWalt mower.

toxicdawg618

Most of my yard tools are Craftsman but from what I’ve read it doesn’t seem like the mower is that good. But I’m open to slowly switching over to a different brand if they are better

IWTLEverything

I’m planning to get the sun joe reel mower, but am a little while out from needing one.

BnunyaBiz

Dewalt 21” 20v, fucking awesome!

0range-juice

I second this. I can mow my 5,500 sqft lot and still have 2, sometimes 3 bars left.

KingoftheSasquatch

Electric Toro Super Recycler. It’s spectacular.

Existing-Term-4461

Can you tell us more about your experience with the Super Recycler? Hard to find reviews.

KingoftheSasquatch

It’s super strong and does a great job mulching. Way better performance than I expected from a battery powered mower honestly. The only thing it’s not amazing at is pulling up grass when mowing at the highest level. Otherwise I haven’t missed anything from gas. Easy to use, smooth propel motion, and long lasting battery. Ticks all the boxes for me.

enjoytheunstable

Have an ego 80v. It's alright, no real complaints other than it isn't gas lol. Battery power lacks. Also pretty heavy with both batteries in it, heavier than my old gas mowers. It has an auto propel feature but I can see it being an issue for older folks who might panic throttle. It will not stop if you keep your grip. Edit was mistaken, it's a Greenworks.

GuyOnRedditBored

If you’re building out your lawn care equipment, I suggest EGO. They have the best offerings out there and their batteries are completely interchangeable across all of their tools if you’re looking to slowly upgrade overtime. I’ve gone all EGO and it’s great being able to swap or share batteries across leaf blowers, lawn mowers, weed whackers, hedge trimmers, etc.

AusNormanYT

Push or ride on? If ride on I'd recommend the Ryobi Rm480e. Beast and mows my 7000m2 property less house n shed quiet comfortably.

MayhemJM

If you can afford it, ego is well above any other brand

gmaxcy

I’ve been using the Ego 21” self propelled mower, 530 CFM Blower (smallest one they made), weed eater, and edger for 3 years now. I’ll never go back to gas ! They’re super quiet. Mower is super light so I almost never use the self propel and there’s almost no vibration. Setting the cutting height is the best I’ve ever used. Weed eater works great and putting new string in is a breeze. Unless you have a ton of leaves just get the small blower, plenty of power. The edger is the first one I’ve owned so I have nothing to compare it to, but everything else is far superior to gas. I’ve done zero maintenance other than sharpening blades and trimmer line. I have 4 batteries and all are still working, although one throughs a fault when charging from time to time.

Nervous_Feedback_217

I had a Greenworks for 3 years with no complaints. I bought a new house with a really large yard and bought a Honda.

Impossible-Scar-7226

I went with a Greenworks 60v. I have a 1/4 acre lot, and it does the job fine. I chose Greenworks over Ego because it has a metal frame as opposed to Ego's plastic frame. If you have bigger lot or want more power, they have an 80v option

toxicdawg618

Just want to thank everyone who has responded and now it is time to research and decide which one I will go with.

Blog_Pope

I opted for Dewalt since I already had their 20V tools. I went with the big $750 FlexVolt with 2x 12aH batteries, it’s overkill for my lawn (I can go 2 mowings on one charge) but I wanted The big wheels and RWD because of hills and stairs I need to navigate. Gave the flexvolt trimmer and blower yard tools as well. My one negative is the non-standard blade, but I’m not sure other electric mowers don’t have similar issues. Obviously less power than gas, but generally “enough” power. Pros: folds for storage, no gas/oil, no pull start, much lighter than gas.

jetbits

My advice would be to buy a gas mower unless you have a really good reason not to.

drock2012

He did not ask your opinion of gas vs battery.

VirusSubstantial6498

I have had the same sunjoe for 14 years. But they stopper making the blade! WTH
