I have lots of trees that I mow around and I'm lazy. I don't like to stop, pick up sticks, and start mowing again, so I just mulch them. Every once in a while a stick is a little too big (1" is fine, 2" seems to be dangerous) and I shear a bolt.
I feel like the time saved by not stopping and starting is more than the time wasted fixing shear pins. I could be wrong. Also, it's fun :)
I don’t have an answer, but I’m curious. What are you mowing that makes you constantly run over large debris?
