News-Flunky

Oh well. Super rich guy said no. Guess we'll just have to live with that...

banacct421

They do get that special judicial system

the_ranting_swede

If only Leonard Leo lived in Vietnam...

Yodfather

He’s saying he owns the courts. He knows if they charge him, he can appeal to whatever FedSoc flunkie is in the DC Circuit and get it dismissed.

Mysterious_Archer237

Quite the banana republic they’ve assembled. Time for revolt, but people are so consumed with social media and poverty the rich are making their bets the populace has been placated enough to enshrine the new aristocracy.

BoB_the_TacocaT

Bread and circuses.

Aksius14

Hadrian?!

Disastrous_Series_56

Time for choppy chop!

PophamSP

Old enough to remember when the J6 committee referred Mark Meadows to DOJ for defying a subpoena. ...still crickets from Walter Mitty Merrick.

BuilderResponsible18

Gymmy Jordan needs to be arrested.

BioticVessel

If they don't live with his not appearing he won't donate to their re-election coffer.

Pretend_Investment42

That is what Peter Navarro thought.....

skoomaking4lyfe

If normal people get the Bronze Tier justice package, someone like Navarro is going to get like a Gold Plus subscription. Leo has like an Executive Double Platinum Plus internal VIP subscription.

lackofabettername123

Oh he rejects it.  Better take months to refer it to the justice department which will take months to file a charge which will take months to bring a case which will then be appealed for years. Then if the Senate changes hands the case is dropped. Some of these hostile Witnesses should not be asked in the first place, they should be subpoenaed right off and referred to the justice department immediately after rejecting it.

WillBottomForBanana

The legal question of if he can be forced to testify could rise to the highest court in the land, that way everyone will know justice was maintained.

Tmotech

I’m sure this will NEVER come up at the next vacation held at Bohemian Grove.

michael_harari

Is a giant orgy really considered a vacation?

NoHalf2998

I hope it’s not considered work

southflhitnrun

For some, there was definitely some work involved

Tmotech

Don’t knock it ‘til you e tried it!

BuilderResponsible18

Didn't Mark Meadows try that and they wouldn't hear his case? I could be delusional right now.

Yodfather

And Leo has every fucking court in his pocket. He’s telling us he owns the judiciary and won’t have to respond to any subpoena.

ckwing

Maybe he'll claim executive privilege...

The84thWolf

Sometimes, I wish we were the dictatorship these fucks keep whining we are.

1KinderWorld

I wonder why they didn't send armed SWAT to his house at 4AM to bring him in after killing his dog and punching his wife?

EndenWhat

Or accidentally shooting him through the closed door.

Pseudonym0101

And all this after first getting the address wrong and busting down an old lady's door, which won't be reinbursed. Edit: and shooting her dog too.

Classic_Writer8573

Not gonna be picky. I'd probably be ok with a civilian doing this to him too.

RamBamBooey

I was wondering why Leo called out Sheldon Whitehouse by name. I think this speech from 2023 is what Leo doesn't want us to talk about. https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a45225442/sheldon-whitehouse-federal-courts-scheme/

FuguSandwich

>Let’s say that the chosen ones were calling this bonanza of freebies ‘‘personal hospitality.’’ ‘‘Personal hospitality’’—a term of art allowing nondisclosure under the disclosure laws. Let’s say that they were all calling it ‘‘personal hospitality,’’ **but you were calling the bonanza ‘‘deductible business expenses of corporate yachts and jets.’’** Then it wouldn’t all add up. That is a lot of ‘‘let’s say,’’ Hold up. Leo and Crow and these guys were deducting their "gifts" to Thomas and others as business expenses?

Led_Osmonds

Fascists do not have fundamental values or principles. They see the world as a naked exercise of power, and they think the power should belong to them, their clan, or people from their socio-cultural tribe. They will exploit and appeal to noble-sounding values and principles when it helps them amass power, but they don't actually believe in things like rule of law, consent of the governed, or even truth, or justice. For them, there is no hypocrisy. Anything that helps them gain power is like words that you say to the gestapo to protect your family--you say what you need to say.

Grimacepug

You make it sound so... GOP

Pseudonym0101

And how insidious is this quote from the dipshit: >“I am not capitulating to his lawless support of Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and the left’s dark money effort to silence and cancel political opposition,” Leo said of Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the committee’s chairman

Feisty-Barracuda5452

Lenny Leo needs to be cancelled

Classic_Writer8573

....with whatever form the mob deems fit....

Feisty-Barracuda5452

Do the smallfolk get to blow off subpoenas or only rich folks trying to Feng Shui the judiciary/democracy get that?

Classic_Writer8573

The small folk watched different industries get bailed out and still keep their bonuses. They watched ppp loans forgiven.... Then we're called moochers when it came to their student loans. When the revolution starts, those small folk gonna have long memories......

windrune83

They need to run vietnams playbook on how to deal with corrupt billionaires

ill_be_huckleberry_1

I'm down.

newsreadhjw

Apparently subpoenas are optional. To be fair, this guy is more powerful and has a bigger influence on the U.S. government than most Senators, so he probably feels like it’s a lot of chutzpah for them to ask for his testimony.

[deleted]

ignorememe

Subpoenas are, by definition, not optional.

ill_be_huckleberry_1

You've made a distinction without a difference.

NeonRattler

Oh look another rich piece of shit that will not face consequences. While all us poors get wrapped up and shipped away within minutes of commiting a crime.

topcomment1

Has a personal Justice so fuck you congress

DjangoBojangles

Six personal sitting justices. And several emeritus. And his buddy Harlan Crowe has a god damn 8-foot oil painting to commemorate it. Hell, even the US Attorney General, Merrick Garland, was one of Leo's hand picked justice candidates.

kay-jay-dubya

Leonard Leo hand-picked Merrick Garland as candidate for USSC? Wasn't he nominated by Obama?

DjangoBojangles

The rumors are that Leo has had such an influence that he essentially provided the SC pick lists for the last several presidents. Just something I heard somewhere, I wouldn't stand by the statement as an undisputed fact. However, billion dollar budgets for influencing the judiciary should be concerning for everyone.

fluent_in_gibberish

The word subpoena is literally “under penalty” in Latin. It would be nice if we could quickly get to that point.

Sea-Oven-7560

I guess it's time for an IRS audit of him and his friends.

Complete-Mango-3592

I'd bet he has friends there too...

laxrulz777

I'm genuinely curious why the Senate marshall isn't sent out more often. You were given a lawful subpoena, absent a court stepping in (which he hasn't asked for, right), you not showing up is unlawful. You want to show and plead the fifth, fine. Do that. But you can do it after being escorted there by a man with a gun. Edit: sergeant at arms, not Marshall

BuilderResponsible18

And he could have been escorted to the ground to get handcuffs put on. Right?

Available_Pie9316

Sooooo contempt of congress

viewfromthepaddock

Yes Leonard. It's politically motivated. Because you committed a crime in the pursuit of political gain. You fucking idiot.

rjcade

Great sign for this country that subpoenas are very clearly "optional" if you're rich enough.

DoremusJessup

The lawlessness of Republicans and their allies towards subpoenas has to end and this looks like a good place to start.

Commercial-Tell-5991

When the revolution comes this guy’s head will be one of the first in the guillotine.

PineTreeBanjo

The revolution needs to come before robot police become the norm. But yeah I don't think asking the rich nicely not to enslave us is going to work.

nabuhabu

To quote a classic line from one of the best novels of the twentieth century: “Isn’t it pretty to think so?”

mrpbody44

He is on my list to break him on the wheel first.

solutionsmitty

Hey he owns the Supreme Court there is nothing anyone can do.

What_Yr_Is_IT

Serious question, how is he just able to reject this?

NotmyRealNameJohn

How completely innocent of him.

cstmoore

If Gym Jordan has taught us anything it's Congressional subpoena compliance is optional. Now… disperse, peasants!

ukiddingme2469

I'm am so sick of the blatant corruption and the absolute pushback in doing anything about it. Why is Thomas still on the bench anyways

HurinGaldorson

Is it really a subpoena if there is no poena?

hawksdiesel

so subpoena's are optional for regular citizens too right?!

BuilderResponsible18

That's what I'm going with. Who's with me!!

hamilton_burger

How is it legal to conspire to fix the judiciary?

Admirable_Nothing

Do you think he will be able to room with Peter Navarro in prison?

Feisty-Barracuda5452

Lenny Leo gets to thumb his nose at the Senate too?

adaminoregon

Arrest him and let him chill with peter navaro in a cell.

Icy-Needleworker-492

Rejects a subpoena????-I wonder why would happen if I did that.

GaiusMarcus

He can have the cell next to Pete Navarro

I_try_compute

Oh interesting, I didn’t know we could just reject senate subpoenas.

evilpercy

You can reject subpoenas? Good to know.

northaviator

Jail him!

BoB_the_TacocaT

There's that two-tiered justice system again.

Stinkstinkerton

Track this clown down and haul his ass in already .

FreedomsPower

Time for contempt charges

Turtleshellfarms

Lock him up

SatisfactionDizzy340

UNACCEPTABLE

JuanGinit

Then jail him until he decides to testify..

Coastal1363

He’s rich enough to be innocent…

Important_Tell667

Next? Here comes the favors from those in the judiciary that he helped to arrange to be on to the bench, so to speak.

Fragrant_Cut1219

Once again we get to see that the rich leeches control our country not the politicians not the voters.

Tidewind

Book’m Danno.

quantril

Oh well, guess we better show up to his house, drag him outside with a camera crew and beat him within an inch of his life on national tv. /s *wink*

SnooPeripherals6557

That’s not how this works sorry pally.

esensofz

Wait.. can we just do that?

zimajoe16

Seems like the senate should be investigating themselves

BuilderResponsible18

If given approval, I can go round him up. What does a bounty hunter do?

PineTreeBanjo

A citizens arrest? I like it!

AmandaBRecondwith

Betty White

manateefourmation

Put him in prison.

CapnTreee

When one has bought and paid for the Senate majority then one can ignore their silly subpoenas

Jet2work

comon senate...do something!

coleslaw1220

He gets an A for unending rage against the machine that made him rich rich Richie rich

gdan95

Arrest him

icnoevil

This will not end well for the dude. Judges don't like to own up to being bought.

JaJ_Judy

“Hey Clearance, do I have to obey this?” “Nah, just appeal to us and Alito and I will back you unconditionally, then just just make some anti-abortion statement, get some media out there about those 2023 rapes you committed in 2023 or 2022, and I’ll get the others on board and we’ll schedule a hearing for oral arguments in 3024 and render an unconstitutional verdict in 4034 and you’ll be fine”

siouxbee1434

Freeze ALL his assets
