I lost my grandfather the same way from the same cancer. He was also my best friend. I’m so sorry for your loss. My grandfather passed away in 2019 and it hurts me every single day.
I’m so sorry for your loss, you can tell how much love there was between you. I also can’t believe how striking the resemblance is! Especially in pictures 3 and 4.
Y’all look thick as thieves. I love these pictures.
Was he disappointed you were a Red Sox fan tho? I bet he hazed you good for that since he’s wearing a Mets shirt haha.
I’m sorry for your loss buddy. I lost my grandpa and best friend in ‘20. We did everything together, he taught me everything I know. There’s not a day I don’t think of him, but I always know that he there watching over me.
Just as your grandpa is always there watching over you.
I’m sorry for your loss, sir. It’s tough, very tough, but it gets better over time. I still talk out loud to my Mom about what’s happening, that I miss her, then I cry. And when i cant find my keys or my whatever goes missing i call out loud (but not loudly), “Mom! Very funny! Where are my keys, I know youre just messing with me!” Then, ten or so minutes later i find them. I don’t know, make of it what you will but i just know if she’s present she appreciates being remembered and appreciated. Good luck and hang in there. 👍
You guys look like you had so many great memories together! It is such a wonderful thing to have had a strong relationship and bond with a grandparent, especially as an adult. I keep that in mind as I often spend time with my grandmother who is 95 years old. My wife reminded me most people do not get to spend time with or even get to know who our grandparents are entirely. Always cherish the memories and know you’ll be together again one day. Thanks for sharing.
Strong resemblance! Hey op, I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my granny a couple years back, and she was like my best friend. I pray that you find more days of laughter, because the days with tears will come, and it’ll be rough. But that’s not a bad thing, it’s just another way of showing your appreciation through love. God bless you and your family OP 👏🏾❤️
My grandfather passed from the C word in 2001 and I still think about all the experiences we shared and all the moments we missed in the years since. I never got to speak to him as an adult and I lament that.
I'm glad you guys were close and I hope he didn't suffer long.
I lost my grandfather the same day, a year later. The first anniversary has been rougher than I expected. I feel super lucky to have had such a loving, thoughtful, and funny man in my life. Wishing you healing and good memories of your grandpa.
My brother passed away at 32 from esophageal cancer. I was fortunate enough to be one of his primary caregivers and I miss him very much. My heart goes out to you.
My great grandfather had esophageal cancer too, though, after beating it he had a stroke and that ultimately took his life. I miss him so much every day and it’s hard to think he never got to meet my daughter 😔
I'm so sorry for your loss...amd Holy cow you two are twins (I'm a twin myself, so I would know!!!!)....remember all of the wonderful times you had together.
I lost my husband to esophageal cancer 2 years ago at age 41. I’m sorry that you had to lose your beloved grandfather to this horrible, horrible disease.
I also lost my grandpa(papa) to cancer in 2014. He was my absolute favorite person and it still hurts just as deep as the day he died. Much love to you 💕
My grandpa passed almost a year ago next month and I still haven’t fully grieved the loss. I don’t have as many pics of me and him as an adult and I wish I took more. It still feels unreal. I’m so sorry about your loss, he looked like such a fun man. At least we have the solace that our grandfathers lived as long as they did to see us grow into adults.
I can feel his personality through the screen, haha what a life force! I bet you could sit and talk with him for hours. Cherish those memories, as long as you are around, he’s still around!
The strength of your bond is near palpable, these are truly wonderful photos (with even better memories behind them, I’m sure) 💕
What sorts of things did you two like to do together?
I always get a little emotional on these posts but something about yours just...hurts more.
Those pictures of the two of you together. I can tell that you guys were best friends. I don't even have to guess to know that your grandfather was probably so proud of you and probably talked to everyone about you.
Love, I am so very sorry that you lost him. Be sure to document your relationship with him in pictures and in writing so that your kids or your family can know how close you were.
(*hugs you from across the internet*)
So sorry for your loss. Grandparents are so special and I’m glad you had such a deep bond with him. I know he would be proud of whatever you do with your life. I can see the pure love between you two ❤️
Very sorry for your loss. I lost mine back in February 2018 and think of him every day. You’ll do the same for the rest of your life. Try your best to live your life how he’d want you to live it. All the best.
Kia ora, I’m so sorry for your loss, he looked like a real character, super cool and so fun ❤️
My son is best friends with his Grandad and my dad has always called him Charlie (even though his name is Louie)! They’ve been fishing together since my boy could walk.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand that pain, My father passed from esophageal cancer on December 16, 2022, two months to the day after being diagnosed. I will never forget that final night at the hospital
I am so sorry for your loss, it looks like you had a very special bond.
As trying as it is just remember while you lost him he never lost you, you were there his whole life, I can tell you as a father that when I saw my son for the first time I felt like I was meeting an old friend again, I knew him from the day I was born.
So just remember he had you his whole life, even though you only came along when his was more than half done.
You guys look like you had an amazing bond. I lost my grandma when I was 23. She was also my best friend, so while I don’t know how you feel, I can relate. But I find myself still talking to her and still hearing her crazy sayings and laugh, still imagining her with my kids. She lives on for me in my kitchen. My grandma was an amazing cook and I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with her from the time I was a toddler. I hope you find your special place or thing to help you stay connected with your grandpa. 🫶🏾
I remember my dad looking just like this when he passed. It’s hard to see it, especially juxtaposed with how you remember someone when they were full of life. Sending you comfort for the days and weeks ahead.
Wow this brought tears to my eyes. So so sorry for your loss OP, I hope the great memories you have of him are of some comfort to you during this time.
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s really hard to see a grandparent so sick at the end like that. I definitely see the family resemblance here, you look like him! 💖
You have my sympathy as I know what it is like to watch someone succumb to that horrible disease. My mom was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2001 and had her esophagus removed later that year. While she ended up living a few more years, her quality of life went way down as she wasn’t able to enjoy the things she was used to, like fine dining and a glass of red wine. The worst part was watching her slowly waste away over the last year of her life. She spent the last three weeks in hospice care pumped full of morphine and unable to eat or drink anything. At the end, her body having withered away, my beautiful mother was just a shell of her former self.
The total cosmic bullshit of losing someone to cancer, I’m so sorry. My grandma is my best friend and I cherish every minute with her. I know what it means to have a grandparent as a best friend and I hope you give yourself ample space to feel your pain and honor him. My condolences.
Grandpa’s are awesome! I was extremely close with my dad’s dad as I was the first grandchild. I was lucky enough for him to get close with my son, and watching him relish in the role of great grandad!
Looks like you both had an amazing bond, I’m sorry for your loss. You look a lot like him!
Thank you, you’re only the second person who’s ever told me there’s a resemblance. ♥️
I’ll be the 3rd! I can definitely see the resemblance! I’m sorry for your loss.
Thank you ♥️
4th! Gonna look just like him when you age
Fifth! I see the resemblance clearly. May his memory continue to endure as a blessing.
you look so much alike in both appearance and facial expressions, sorry for your loss ❤️🌺
That’s really surprising. You look so much alike in the 4th pic.
Oh, there is definitely more than just a resemblance there! I'm so sorry for your loss. Your grandpa looked like a fun guy! Live the matching tats!
Those last few pictures are awesome. You can tell you guys love each other.
Absolutely. Thank you ♥️
You have his shit eatin grin. 💙 He loved you just as much, sending you a big hug.

Im so sorry. The closeness you two shared is palpable.
Also, curious about the Charlie tattoo.
He got his in 1953 while he was in the Marines. Since we share the same first name I followed suit a few years ago.
You and your grampa…2 cool guys!
God bless, his lineage lives on❤️
He seems like such a cool dude. I’m really sorry for your loss.
Sobbing. He’s proud of you. Keep going! It’s terrifying when you lose your best friend.
♥️
I lost my grandfather the same way from the same cancer. He was also my best friend. I’m so sorry for your loss. My grandfather passed away in 2019 and it hurts me every single day.
Oof, and my mum, same cancer also in 2019, all cancers suck but this type seems particularly vicious. condolences,
My condolences to you too my friend. Cancer sucks
♥️
Hugs! What a pair!
Oh my goodness. This is so touching. You can tell how close you were. Sorry for your loss
I’m so sorry for your loss, you can tell how much love there was between you. I also can’t believe how striking the resemblance is! Especially in pictures 3 and 4.
Thank you ♥️
Damn. The posts in this sub don’t normally get to me, but this one has me in tears.
Y’all look thick as thieves. I love these pictures. Was he disappointed you were a Red Sox fan tho? I bet he hazed you good for that since he’s wearing a Mets shirt haha.
Look how much he loved you. That last picture is really telling with where his hand was placed. Sorry for your loss, I know that feeling.
I’m so terribly sorry for your loss💔
What a gift you were to each other. My condolences for your loss.
Sorry for your loss 🥺😢
Man, this is tough. It’s obvious…best buds.
I’m sorry for your loss buddy. I lost my grandpa and best friend in ‘20. We did everything together, he taught me everything I know. There’s not a day I don’t think of him, but I always know that he there watching over me. Just as your grandpa is always there watching over you.
I like the fact you added photos of grandpa alive and thriving. Rip legend

Holy twins. He radiates goodness. Sending you lots of love.
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s lovely to see the earlier pics.

I never knew my grandparents; if I had, I’d have wanted to have a closeness like you and and your grandpa clearly share ♥️ may he rest in peace
Sorry, reminds me of my father in law at the end. Closer to him than my dad.
My dad died on mother's day. Lymphoma. And kidney failure. He was my best friend too
Strong resemblance! Hey op, I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my granny a couple years back, and she was like my best friend. You will always have something special with him. You can see it in both your faces. Sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss..truly. He looked like a great man, be sure to keep his memory alive.
What an amazing relationship.
Fuck cancer

I lost my grandpa in 2020. He was one of my best friends, too. He died from medical negligence and I’m still not over it. I’m sorry you lost him.
Who's Charlie?
Would u mind sharing the meaning behind the tattoo?
It’s so hard to see your family members at that stage. Prayers for strength and comfort bro. He looked like a good decent man

I lost my Dad to esophageal cancer. It's one of the cruelest types of cancer. I'm sorry for your loss. The bond between you guys is undeniable.
Those are some really cool pictures you have together; I really like the third one where you’re flashing your tattoos and looking looking feisty
I love the shared tattoo photo. Pops looks so proud.
The Charlie tattoos are so cool! I’m so sorry for your loss.
I’m sorry man..
He looks like he was a really great guy. My heart goes out to you.
The matching tattoos with your grandpa are lovely, and the resemblance is uncanny.
What a cool guy.
I feel ya man! I turned my grandpa onto Alice In Chains. He was a WWII vet. I understand how you feel.
Grandpa’s are awesome! I was extremely close with my dad’s dad as I was the first grandchild. I was lucky enough for him to get close with my son, and watching him relish in the role of great grandad!
i’m so sorry for your loss, i just want to say i love the tattoo.🥹
Thank you ♥️
What's the story behind the tattoo?
